MK2k's Hearlight PSP

Do homebrew developers take a break during Christmas like us ordinary folks? We've been having quite a slew of homebrew releases these past days, and homebrew dev MK2k (known for his Sleep'n'Wake project for the Sony PlayStation Portable) joins the list of generous homebrew devs today with the release of Heartlight PSP X-Mas Preview. This homebrew game written in C using SDL is actually a remake of the Epic Megagames original Heartlight for the PC.

MK2k says that this version is just a preview of the full version of the game for the Sony PSP, that's why Heartlight PSP X-Mas Preview has only 20 levels compared to the 70 levels the full version has. But really, we aren't complaining. There's even a level recorder which records successful attempts at solving each level and a record playback. Cool. Other features like the level editor will only be available in the full version of the homebrew game.

The goals of Heartlight PSP is pretty simple: You have to get the dwarf named Percival to collect all the hearts in each level and reach the open door. Maybe the goals are too simple for you gamers, but we doubt breezing through all 20 levels will be difficult. But we do love a challenge, don't we?

Dev MK2k made sure that a lot of people enjoy Heartlight PSP X-Mas Preview as the homebrew game is available to FW 1.50 users and FW 3.xx and 1.00 users.

Get the game and tell us how you like it and how fast you were able to finish all 20 levels. Make sure to check out the readme too because it has important information like installation instructions, controls, and other features of the game. Enjoy!

Epic MegaGames original?

While it's an obvious rip-off of Boulder Dash, that doesn't make it bad. It's subtly different. This and the full version (70 levels!) will hold some puzzle fans over until Boulder Dash Rocks comes out early 2008. Nice work, MK2k! More homebrew is always good.

Off-topic

BTW, what is with the 5-month-old news being "jumped up"? Currently, official firmware 3.52 is the hottest news?? Lulz.
