A very interesting homebrew game came our way recently. DreaDNoughT wrote to us (thanks for that!) about this game that he has worked on called "Hackers Vs Sony". The good developer together with virons (who was responsible for the gfx) slaved on this one for a week and the game is well, you guessed it - hackers going up against the Sony people.
The story revolves around how Sony, who was once considered as an ally of the gaming community, betrayed the very people who supported them. When the PSPs came out, everybody wanted them because of its beautiful features and the fact that you can hack them. And here's where the betrayal started: Sony released the 'demonic' firmware -- fw 2.0, which forced gamers to leave their PSPs for the DS...until they were saved by the devs -- such as Dark Alex, MPH, and Yoshihiro to name a few.
This one is a megaman style game and you must fight the evil Sony minions so as you can go deeper and deeper within the recesses of the Sony HQ and destroy the ultimate boss that blocks beloved homebrews. The Sony coders take the form of bluish, alien like creatures heavily armed with their weapon -- the Sonylight. You, as the hacker, take the form of a bird and you must defeat them with your own weapon -- the butterball.
And speaking of weapons, the developers mentioned to us that when they update the game to another version, he plans on enabling the 'hackers' upgrade their weapons to weapons such as "mph 2.0 downgrader" and "the dark_alex 2.5 and 2.6 downgrader". Now, if only this applies to real life...
UPDATE: DreaDNoughT just wrote to us (thanks again!) about some important details. Aside from the fact that he and homebrew developer, virons, concocted this game, he would also like to say that "he has made an update where the gunfire is a bit faster and the ability to take screenshots by holding the left trigger down in-game, I (he) also included an in-game screenshot" That's was fast! So go ahead and download the slightly-updated Hackers Vs. Sony!

Seriously Sony makes updated firmware to counter ISO loaders being used... Only 10% - 15% of PSP users use homebrew and ISO's..... no.7 is right aswell!
No offense but Sony is doing the logical thing, they dont like piracy, no dev does... Im all for Dev Hook, 1.5 firware and these great homebrew, hacks, dev's, but seriously this game has the most stupid storyline ive read...

Seriously ive been on a ***** load of forums, spoken to a helluva lot of people and the vast majority of PSP users are on 2.7. Dont take my word for it go start a what firmware do you have thread on an IGN, gamespot ect. etc. Forum..
The frequent vistors QJ PSPupdates, PSP hacks, PS2nfo ect. ect. are obviusly using homebrew. Seriously there are *****loads of PSP's in the world 3/4 of people who own those wouldent even know you can run homebrew and ISO's...

Well, considering he is unregistered and he hasn't come out with a game I would say that he isn't doing any better so it was not a retarded thing to say.
this is really gay. obviously this was put together by someone who doesn't know much about the scene. the credit given in the text is to the wrong people. people didn't leave and buy a ds after the 2.0 update. this guy is a *****al and doesn't know ***** about this scene. don't post ***** like this as news again. pathetic.
its people like this that in their self deluded rightous glory, fall short of understaning and the bigger picture. Sacrifices must be made, its a sad, harsh truth. Sony has to make a choice, to allow homebrew and the possibility of people pirating games in a rampent reakless disregard. Saying that they do it because their sticking it to a rotting coorperation, games cost to much, and so on. Guess what, if you think games cost to much, that sony is corrupt/arrogant/screwing you, you dont have to buy their systems, their games, or anything from them. They are not a monopoly like companies like microsoft. They are still bringing things to the table for you. working to make your entertainment better, even if its just for business. ok... lost track here...
sony has to make a choice, homebrew able or safe for devs. by limiting homebrew to security holes they can lessen the impact piracy reasoned iso loaders make to developer. Thus making them feel safe enough to make games for the system. A few years ago, sony said you could make homebrew for your psp, the only limits would be your imagination. They did not lie, by accident or sheer genius, they have fostered the homebrew community on the psp end. They gave us a taste of freedom on 1.0 and 1.5 and have slowly been building and working up imaginations, limitations, and decisive thinking with each firmware release. Freedom always comes at a price. As time goes by it becomes greater with more people in the ranks, thus the harsh security. Sony may seem like the enemy here by making us work harder and harder for our psp's freedom, but its all in good measure. Im sure they wouldnt have released the psp with so little security at first without reason. They held true to homebrew on your psp, but they never said it would be easy.

You're kidding, right? You're telling people with 1.50 to upgrade, even though we have the ability to run both 1.50 and any other firmware version without having to upgrade?

hackers ARE heroes of the gaming world, they are to be respected. They work hard for our entertainment. I am 100% FOR hackers in ANY games or game systems. and also, I still understand why sony had to continue making firmware updates. if they don't do this, and stop the updates right here, right now, more and more people will get bored, and eventually learn about the homebrew community. that means people will no longer buy games, and only PSPs, which will make sony poorer and poorer. They need money to continue making entertainment for us people. we would not have any isos to load if sony did not make games to turn into isos in the first place. As long as the hackers and sony exist, the homebrew community will be fine, and so will sony. exploiting firmwares is what hackers do, and sony patches up the exploits for the majority of people who do not know about the homebrew community. The two sides can coexist, and we can be happy.
let go make some peace with the sony and settle a tredy. no more firmware no more hacking.
Take the amount of users on the most popular the PSP homebrew and hacking download sites, then compare it to the amount of PSP units sold and you will have some sort of average figure of about how many people know about homebrew/hacks. The ration is about somewhere around 1 out of every 80 psp owners know about homebrew hacks and so on. Thats a bit more than 1%. And then consider than even less of that 1% even care to pirate stuff. Do you really think thats a problem or even the slightest threat to a huge mega billion dollar corperation like Sony? Sony is just being over protective pricks.
Its an interesting concept but it greatly lacks creativity.
You could have done a lot better in the art department and I feel you should have emphasized more on the bad guys being Sony employees.

first off whoever made this game forgets one thing, the ability to run homebrew apps on the psp was never a promised feature of the psp.. it was able to be done because of a security flaw..
a flaw that had to be closed.. especially if they want the psp to survive.. create a system that is very easy to copy software and pirate developers will not support the console or handheld device..
look guys im happy you guys are having fun with doing these things with the psp but dont assume that it was a feature that was intended by sony for you to be able to do.. and until that changes sony will always work on closing those security holes to stop hacks
yes lot of people must remember thats ***** french ....he asked for donation to every body on this forum , and many believed him ,like he have a downgrader from 2.0 to 1.5 .....remember the 1 september 2005 lol .....and yoshiro didnt give us the downgrader after 250 euro of donation ......MPH downgrader came some months later but it wasnt yoshiro thats all .........
