Gunnar Hero v0.20 |
Ó
The first time we heard about the rhythm-based homebrew game Gunnar Hero was around March of this year. It was created by HardHat and the inspiration came from, needless to say, the highly successful title Guitar Hero. We learned today that the developer joined forces with Team Sushi and came up with a new build for the Neo Spring Coding Competition 07.
Team Sushi noted that compared to the previous versions, this is one's the most stable and with a lot of additions such as keyboard re-mapping, high scores, points multipliers, and support for multiple plays per sessions. The complete changelog for this version is as follows:
- Nicer text for list of songs (based on the filename instead of the XML)
- Transparent menu background
- Targa-based vid capturing
- High scores are now saved, so beat your high score
- Multipliers are based on whether there are active notes or active sparks. If not, the multiplier is reset to 1.
- Replay now reset properly, so score is not cumulative
- Nicer sustain bars (but still no points for sustains)
- Added intro keymap instructions

I couldn“t get the older versions to work on my PSP. I'll try this when I get home.

I think there should be a way to flip the screen upside down and then hold psp upside down too. Then use L-trigger to strum (now on the right) and the four buttons and R-trigger to hold the notes. That would simulate holding a real guitar a little better. I wish the button layout was better for this :|

It should have the LULZ inside sticker!
Remember kiddies, shortcat is shrt.

rtrigger, triangle, circle, cross, start
then use the analog stick to strum. Maybe you'll like that better.
I haven't tried playing upside down, but if I like it I'll add official support on the next version.

I followed the instructions and did everything fine.
The chart shows up.
But there is no sound.
:(
Any one know why?

I've had 8 or more testers test on: 3.4OE, 3.03OE and various 3.52M33 firmwares, and it seems to have sound for all of them.
What song and frimware are you trying? Sadly there is still the occasional crash with this build depending on your set up, but it really does work much better.

In Brendon Small - Secret Song 13 (sm4k).sng
the tag says:
+lt;MusicFileNa me+gt;bs - Track 13.mp3+lt;/MusicFileName+g t;
so it will only play if the mp3 has that name. I'll make a note to check for ones matching the sng filename in the next version.
