HLBOX3Some of you may know of David Jaffe, some of you may not. For those of you who donÂ’t, heÂ’s the one responsible for bringing the games like God of War and Twisted Metal  to the PS2. However, thereÂ’s a mysterious image over at DavidÂ’s Blog concerning his top secret “HL” project for the PSP. It still might be a secret, but he did comment on how he and his team have been removing the cut-scenes from their in-the-works PSP title feeling that a cut-scene “pulls you out of the game - it's almost like you appreciate the creativity but as a game it doesn't work”. The goal is to incorporate all the essentials plot points into the game play, as opposed to falling back on a cut-scene to move the story along between levels. “The real trick is how do we keep you in the game and make it more than a game, make it emotional and make it political."

Oh, I see, I wasn't the first to notice...

Does anyone have a clue whether the mentioned guy has any relationship to sierra or someone of the half-life people?

Well, bearing in mind there's a US flag on the cover you'd have to presume 'HL' is 'Home Land', wouldn't you?

Here's guessing it's a 'Protect the Nation' type story.

I think I even guessed HomeLand before. And yes, the flag is pretty obvious. And no, it's not going to be Half-Life. This guy isn't related to that game.

David Jaffe is right on the money. Cut scenes suck big time. I hate them and games that over use them cause they do pull you right out of the game. One second your totally into the game and the next you are just a spectator and no longer a active participant.

Game developers should stop using cut scenes to cover weak story lines / plots and invest more time in improving the games plalability.

Guys, just highlight the box, & you can see the flag easier, I'm not going to worry, but by the looks of it, it's going to be about Homeland, I'm guessing a little tribute to 9/11, maybe a mission or something to capture saddham, who knows

HL really might stand for Half-Life, because it was famous for taking out cutscenes and telling a story with scripted events. It may not have anything to do with the games title, but the inspiration. "Home Land" might be a good guess to though, seeing how politics are taking center stage more lately.
