The homebrew scene has really come a long a way and we have to thank the great and unselfish coders for that. Remember our list of PSP hacks and development icons? We're pretty sure we need to update that list in the very near future as one more developer is about to get added: Zero-one.
After making the announcement a couple of days ago, Zero-one walked into the QJ.Net Forums today and unleashed the first ever MMO homebrew video game called Triple Triad PSP. The game per se is not new because it is actually the card game from Final Fantasy VIII. It was then ported as a homebrew about a year ago.
As if we still have to refresh your memories, the important development here is the MMO infrastructure. Before we go to that though, take note that Triple Triad PSP also sports a single player mode wherein you can have: random 1 vs cpu card battle, custom rules 1 vs cpu battle, and 3 card decks, 330 cards (FF8, FF10, FF7).
With that out of the way, here are the several features for the MMO mode and Zero-one mentioned that there are a lot more to come:
Create your password protected account (yeah it's free); Choose your elemental alignement; Backpack with cards collection and money earned; Online shop (you can buy and sell cards); Online exp gain e full stats; Travel in many cities and places based on the FF8 world (find your favorite!); Standard and custom invites; Win cards in matches; Private mailbox; Buddy list; Black list; In-game filters.
As if those features aren't good enough, Zero-one was also able to provide different servers for U.S. and European players. The at-the-day intercontinental infrastructure holds one server for each location. The developer then mentioned that one more server for each is needed to prevent lagging in the coming days.
Lastly, the homebrew game still has to fix certain issues with WPA encryption and with WLan Power save ON (just turn it off). Take note that 3.03 OE-A custom firmware is not compatible with Triple Triad and Zero-one is suggesting the use of 3.10 OE A2. Triple Triad PSP can run on PSP (main platform), PC-win, PC-Linux, and PS3-Linux.

-Do they mean 3.03OE-C???? Also how is this compatible with PC/linux/ps3????
Is there any way I can contact the creator of this? I found out something he should fix before some people can exploit it and I can't say it here cause knowing how many people are here they can exploit it to show irregularities in the game.
If a noob like you figured it out, im sure it wont be long before everyone else figures it out.

im suprised no one else said anything. they need to fix the game though. whenever i beat someone they just shut their psps off. so i end up getting nothing

This is awesome, thanks man. I just started playing FFVIII and the card game was confusing.. hopefully this will help me out with some practice.

i was beat (a number of times) and after being beat the game just crashed... so they aren't all necessarily shutting them off on purpose

most of the time it crashes about 90 percent. but when i win it just says waiting for opponent. so basically ive never finished a game. tons of other bugs too. im using 3.02 oe-b by the way.
It's programmed in python. Get a python interpreter for windows....

Actually going through the code and working out the kinks takes time. Sure the bugs will get fixed. We just have to be patient.
As for suggestions, addressing what happens to the game when people turn off/lock up their PSPs should be high up on the to do list I think.
how is this mmo? just cause it supports infrastructure? i dont see how a 2 player card game is mmo.

its close enough.and about the connection problem i usually have to try about 10 times until it works. and y do people keep asking if 3.03 oe c works.
Game acts like its loading, but then goes back to main psp screen. Dont know why.
Running 3.10-2
I have 3.10-2 and it is running well. Maybe a few improvements in the whole... not crashing area would be good. Some speed improvements too.
Other than that, a button to challenge people without having to go through the couple of menus to do it would be nice. Also a match history with whom you have fought.
you have to make sure you have already setup ur network connection. Also, choose a username and password, by typing it in upon connection, and click REGISTER
And yah, this is a VERY AWESOME GAME. I have always loved the card games on FF8. Now i just hope there are enough people online to play this game against. So far i've seen some people online, but they never respond to my challenge.
make sure u also put the python folder into the ms root and put the other 2 in game or game150
Just thought I'd let you people know that it works on Mac as well. Sweet game, and multiplatform too!

Trying to figure this out, I have a 1.50 firmware psp will this work for me? And also does it have a bot function to play against offline? I'd appreciate the headsup, thanks!
Ok, I'm an idiot. It does have a 1 player function. Maybe I should read all of it before getting so excited I post. But still, 1.50?
how do you get this game to work on windows? i did what it said in the note pad. but every thing just a bunch of green sankes and im not sure if i did every thing right

ya, homebrew developers please look into more mmo games, like good ones too with ppl walkin around and stuff. if this works, im sure much different types of mmos will as well

whatever you're name is *the other person, not Kristian*, there are a lot of things that could be done, but haven't, for PSP, so you can't just say "If it was possible it would've been done." Take, PSX emulation on the PSP. It's possible now, but was hardly anything but a pipedream many months ago. Also, I don't see anything in Kristian's post that sounds like complaining. They simply said that they were surprised it hadn't been done. No need to be such an, in your words, 455. I'm sure it's possible, the game runs on Java, right, and people are working on bringing Java to the PSP, so it could be done, but just hasn't yet, like Kristian said. Calm yourself down; it's not that big of a deal.
It works fine on 3.03 oe-c, just make sure if u have it in the game folder it is set to 1.5 kernel, or else place it in game150

how do i install this into my psp? it says: To install the homebrew copy the python directory in the root of your MS,
and the two game directories to x:/PSP/GAME or x:/PSP/GAME150 if under custom firmware. wut does that mean??? i dont even no wut an ms is
