French homebrew developer ShaSha came up with a demo for the latest project Final Fantasy VII: Jenova's Resistance. Just like the name implies, this particular homebrew revolves around the Final Fantasy VII universe and the believed to be extra-terrestrial antagonists Jenova.

The game itself is turn-based strategy in nature. While the graphics and the overall speed can be further improved, we have to say that this is quite a decent release for a demo. According to ShaSha, Final Fantasy VII: Jenova's Resistance will be improved in the future so reviews and bug reports are most welcome.

The coder mentioned that it was tested on a PlayStation Portable Fat running on custom firmware 3.71 M33. Some users who've already tried the game reported that it doesn't work with CFW 3.52 M33.

I guess the "no piracy" policy mainly refers to discussions about the use of (illegal) ISOs, and things such as where to find them, how to launch them, etc.

Here QJ talks about a non-commercial, amateur project started by FF7 fan(s) for FF7 fans. You're right when you say that using registered trademarks, or the FF7 characters, is illegal, but come on, tell me that your post isn't serious... please?

I thought there was a topic about "Copyright infridging" stuff not ending up to PU homepage... I know that if you've made all the sprites yourself it is legal, but...

he's not making money out of this.

it's like saying fan art is copyright infringement.

they know what they are doing, so refrain from making more of an idiot of yourself.

For information, my previous post (and, I guess, Jx1's post) was refering to a post that has been deleted.

So, if my post seems weird or if you don't understand what I'm talking about (or why I'm talking about it), it's normal, because you missed the first post of the discussion... >_

ah, so I see my post has been deleted!

so (assuming this post isn't also censored), can anyone from QJ please explain, in all seriousness, + in a mature fashion, the difference between PSP ISO loaders like the DAX loader (not allowed) + e.g. CPS1/2 ISO loaders (one of the top 10 items for today)? I'm all in favour of a no-piracy policy but it needs to be credible + stand up to scrutiny + perfectly sensible questions.

...is copyright infringement.

Unless I've missed something, since when has something being non-commercial/run by amateurs ever made the slightest legal difference to copyright infringement? "What's that... you didn't make any money from copying all our stuff....oh, ok, we don't mind then", no, I don't think so!

sorry, I didn't realise I was making an idiot of myself, I thought I was raising a perfectly valid question.

You clearly seem to think (idioticly, in my opinion) that not making money from something means it bypasses all legal issues such as copyright infringement. Fortunately for me, I realise this is complete nonsense + was just trying to work out which laws we're supposed to be sticking to here + which we can just decide to ignore because we don't like them

Stop whining about copyright infringement. So someone made a free game that involves FF7 characters. What, do you think Square Enix should go after FF7 fanfic writers because their stories involved copyrighted characters? Give me a break. Nice to see someone using a game they enjoy as inspiration to try and create their own games.

exactly. i mean, they even made a movie that was very similar to final fantasy 7. It had characters that looked just like cloud, tifa, yuffie, barret, redxii, reno, heck they had ripped off almost everyone! There was even a fight that reminded me of sephiroth vs cloud! I mean this was blatant copyright infringement at the worse, yet no one cared. Besides, you want copyright infringement? Go get a wii! Nintendo is making money selling roms on the wii! Don't believe me, just google the phrase "wii virtual console". That's piracy too! Of course, since nintendo is doing it, no one cares. ninendo has corporate loopholes that allow it to infringe copyrights at will. Oh, and the movie, I think it was called Advent children.

Nintendo is only selling games that they have the rights to over the virtual console. They're allowed to do it, it's not illegal. But just say Nintendo started selling games that they don't have the rights to then they would be sued.

except.. I would rate this Homebrew a 2/10 :P

Why? It's just the beginning of this project. I like the songs though, good job! The SPRITES and engine really need serious work, and if you work on that, your good to go.

the fan game created above is somehow legal.

sharing of copies (mass copy / internet) of copyrighted games is illegal.
