EXIT has been released on December 15 in Japan. But donÂ’t get too excited yet. The game requires v2.50 firmware to run, according to an email from Killah.

"EXIT" is a puzzle action game, which implements various kinds of action, for escaping from different situations. The players will control the "Mr. ESC", lead him to escape from buildings, hospitals, underground facilities, with disasters like fire or earthquake, under a certain time limit.

Is it the beginning of the v2.50 reign? ItÂ’s in unavoidable for sure, but still sad to hear.

P.S. I have to say that I *gulp* have already pre-ordered Me & My Katamari DamacyÂ… T_T

the upgrade is worth playing new games.

When Ubisoft makes PSP games then its gonna be great and of course they will require 2.5 or maybe higher.

Alot of new Japanese PSP games are so worth the upgrade that I import PSP games because US games plain suck when compared.

The japanese have reasons for upgrading for games but i will admit US is crap when it comes to game selection

Here's a step-by-step guide I wrote to get great fun from this game without having to upgrade.

1. Burn this UMD
2. Buy GTA: Liberty City Stories
3. Enjoy your not 2.50 PSP

I hope this guide helps.

Well, doesn't it work with the PSPSetX for FW 2.00? As long as FW 2.50 didn't change the encryption patterns it should work.

Regards.

I hope katamari doesn't require an update.

but, if there are good games to keep me occupied then i wont mind updating...

but i like having an SNES and some other homebrews... they don't suck for sure.

s00pcan i'd much rather be playing all of the lastest psp games then limiting my self to old psp games just to play emulators and homebrew games.

just face it soon a version 2.70 or 3.00 will be released with even more added sercurity and all of the games will be requiring the lastest firmware and p everyone will have to upgrade or be stuck with no games for there psp

We want to warn any team creating version changer programs that the 2.50 index.dat encryption pattern has changed, therefor you have 100% chances of bricking your psps if you try to use it in your flash.

Eventually you'll have to upgrade for every game and every game will use the AVC codec so unless custom firmware comes out homebrew is pretty much dead unless you don't want to use your psp for its games

PSP games are better then homebrew. I'll keep my homebrew abilities until I see a PSP game I want that requires higher firmware.

as for Updates... SONY will eventually slip up and wreck (millions of) peoples PSPs... now THAT would be a brilliant TURN FOR THE WORSE in there forced updates... and I for one will be LAUGHING my head-off!!!

Well hold on...
wasnt there a program that would recompile everything inside an iso to bring it from 2.00 to 1.50? this however didnt work for GTA but it did work for lots of other games.
if it dosnt work with EXIT it may probably work for a lot of others.

but who wants to go though all that trouble just to play a game.

i just want to buy a game and play it and as i need to update to play the games i will like i said homebrew emulators was all great at first but now i can live without it and would rather just play the actual psp games.

by the end of next year there will be knowone with a 1.50 psp and all games released will require a firmware over 2.50 and homebrew is dead.

Homebrew will not die. There will always be something to exploit. Especially with the GTA hello world, that should eventually be able to work on every current firmware (it already works on 2.5 and later may work on 2.6 as well if they map out the 2.6 syscalls) according to the people who created it.

When you have the minds of people all over the world working for it, given enough time, they can break through.

@stee
well i means that we can stay in the safe-zone (1.5 and 2.00) until something is done about running 2.50+ encrypted umds.
firmware emulators are coming on strong (AVC format playback already!)

The 2.00>1.50 recompiler will of course have to be re-written to decrypt 2.50

Surpose when you put it like that there is still hope with the firmware emulator but i beleave most people will just give up and upgrade once it gets to the point of 2.5+ firmware required because they can't be bothered to do go though all of this trouble each time they want to play homebrew. I mean its went from simply loading the games up from the menu(1.5) to loading up though a photo exploit(2.0) to loading it up though a cheat device which requires you to insert a umd and go though all the menus and loading just to play the homebrew. It seems each time a firmware is hacked it gets more compilcated and it makes it feel like its not worth it in the end just to play these little apps

maybe it is just me who feels this way but i think as you need to go though more exploits and different less convenent methods to play homebrew people will get bored and just upgrade so they can play there psp games.

i for one will not be giving up or upgrading whatsoever, with the exception of lumines and pop revelations, not one of the *cough* demos i have played have imho been worth anywhere near their rrp, if the free games dry up, so be it i'm off and the psp goes on ebay!!

EXIT is one of the best PSP games out there yet. I love it. I haven't enjoy a game so much in YEARS. It is worth the update. Simply as that.

Patience people, patience.

Homebrew may be slow at the moment, but in the next year or so there will be developments that will make you wish you never upgraded.. browsers that are fast, updated often and support flash; software that will allow you to launch any UMD regardless of firmware version; and of course, PSPLinux :)

I suppose it depends on what you bought your PSP for... but, not much has really changed from 2.0 in terms of functionality. Upgrading = loss of the enormous potential the PSP has.

There saying this as if EXIT will be the 1st PSP game to require 2.50

Smackdown vs RAW 2006 already requires 2.50 and so does Prince of Persia: Revelations.
