Now here's another one to add to cools' arsenal of wicked homebrew games, Block Dude v1.0. If you're an active member of the homebrew community, we probably need not remind you of some of cools' previous works. But just in case this is your first time to encounter this coder, he's the same guy who brought us PSP Monopoly and PSP eMail and SMS.

But enough with the history lesson, let's get to the release at hand. Block Dude v1.0 includes 11 levels and cools says that he was able to test the first nine levels. You shouldn't worry about the game being too difficult because as cools says, the first nine levels were totally "beatable". The basic objective of the game is to get past the obstacles and get to the door to go to the next level.

Controls, installation instructions, and other whatnots are all in the readme so make sure you check it out. Have fun!

It's a port, not sure if he made this though, but kudos for porting it.

You don't know who I am, but i dont care. I CAN port this calc app too, but i believe that this is a scratch built look alike.

» Attention Cools:

This is a clone of the TI-83 calculator game by Brandon Sterner. Cools, you are a good programmer, but please give credit where it is due. At least put something in the readme.

» Very Awesome

I like this a ton. I had it on my Ti-83 (and 84plus now)

and I find this to be a very good remake. (and I very much enjoy playing it, great job!)

a few things things for you to fix/change on the next release to make this game better are:

-automatic view scrolling (but still allow custom view movements as well, like in the original)

-holding down the arrows should make block dude continue to move in that direction

-make it so when you are carrying a block, and go under a ledge the same height, that the block falls behind you (as in the original)

-when you complete a level, it should automatically jump to the next level, rather than going to the main menu with the next level unlocked (It took me a long time to figure out I could move up to the next level, and thought that there was only one level for awhile)

-in the forums you said you will be having a skinned mode and a classic mode, which I think is very cool. Just never get rid of the classic :). Perhaps a menu to choose themes, and maybe a nice folder setup for custom themes would be nice (much how PSPRevolution did with it's themes)

all in all, a great first release of the game, its going to be one of the few I keep on my PSP. Keep up the good work!

» not original

But the ti-83 game was based on a computer game called Block Man
