SpiceBoy GB/GBC Emulator R0 for PSP

This Arguru homebrew - SpiceBoy GB/GNC Emulator - offers full speed emulation of GameBoy and GameBoy Color on a PSP (much like Homer's RIN or GeMP). That's full-speed fps for all GB and GBC ROMs. Not bad for a day's work; it was tweaked from InfoBOY (a Win32 GB/GBC emulator) in less than one day.

Impressive as that might sound, there are a few limitations to the current version, Release 0:
  • There's no browser. You have to manually replace the rom.gb file.
  • Sound is not synchronized with the emulation.
  • Some users report color changes.
  • No savestates.

Just an observation...

But QJ.net doesn't support copyrightten material being distributed, right? Then why is QJ.net distributing a licensed Nintendo ROM with this emulator?

...

strange..why ppl keep working on the same things when we lready have perfect ones? they'd better try hard on other emus ... ...we lack 8 or so more different perfect gb\gbc emus.i guess they'll stop then
by Llanowyn - 2006-08-15 02:12:36
hmmm

I was wondering the same thing Cortez...
by - 2006-08-15 03:10:43
Why...? :P

Isn't this a bit useless, since we already have Homer's RIN?
by Jaapie.psp - 2006-08-15 03:10:51
homebrew

gameboy has homebrew too ya now so you can use it for homebrew (nobody will do that) and if you have the original game you may download it like i have super mario bros or whatever 1 on my crappy old gameboy and i may download the rom becus i have it

Hobby?

Hate to sound like one of the complainers, but unless the guy was bored, or does this kind of thing for a hobby, seriously wondering what the point was? to #7 I think you're missing the point of the complaints. There are already other properly working gameboys emus out there, so a 80% functional one, just doesn't seem to serve a purpose. Still news worthy, just wondering what the developers motivation was.

its a bit pointless if you ask me, if we already have full speed emulation why make a new gbc emu
by pauridius - 2006-08-15 04:52:33
should have spent day 2...

improving what needed to be improved. Sure its great and all that for busting out fullspeed in one day.. but dont leave crippling bad stuff if you could fix it in a day. just my opinion.

Learning

He probably just wanted to learn how emulators work, so he decided to code one and then release it.
by - 2006-08-15 06:50:03
best used

Even theres an existing program dosent mean other coders is wasting time doing another program for the same use only. >> strange..why ppl keep working on the same things when we lready have perfect ones? they'd better try hard on other emus i dont know how to use or to install the rins emulator but the other emu is very easy to use and install! Thats the reason why other coders working on same things even theres a perfect one! People has different taste on where they will be comfortable! More programs more choices to be selected depend on their own reasons!
by - 2006-08-15 09:14:12
well its not all perfect yet...

b/c as far as i know htere is no link cable function for any of the gb/gbc emulators.
by - 2006-08-15 10:01:23
Link Cable??

Why would you want a link cable function when you can have wireless multiplayer with wifi. Just to let you know NesterJ's emulator has that.

I hate bashers who thinks they are better

***** off !! smart bashers questioning the developer's motiviation you guys doesnt have a freaking clue on how the C language work !! bashers obviously dont understand the art of programming. not to say, they are just mere freaking "USERS" who can use FREE homebrews, before you guys complain, make sure you make a donation first idiots!

Link Cable

To #18

Give the dude a break. He's trying. Besides, we already got RIN and MR. (Not MRS., incase you guys don't know.) Homer's version, so why do we need another one? (Shrugs)
by - 2006-08-15 12:07:43

Its cool to have variety, and its lookin pretty good already.

post 12 makes a gd point. hes prob just trying a little side project and learning how this sort of stuff goes 2getha. i know thats wot id do neways. i use homers rin but keep it up and hopefully makes this just as good as rin
by - 2006-08-15 14:17:02
wifi

@15 i think he meant a wifi link cable cause what else would u do a usb cable. everyone would rather have a wifi multiplayer and if he needs help adding it he should ask the creater of nesterj nes emu cause that has multiplayer but that is different
by anonymous stranger - 2006-08-15 14:49:17
hey

I hope they can combine this with GeMP's file browsing, file organizing utility or something, or just someone improve GeMP... been waiting for the update!
by - 2006-08-15 15:55:24
GeMP

An update for GeMP will arrive shortly :)

Homer's RIN is NOT perfect like you guys say. On firmware 1.5 the music will disappear if you go into the menu. You've got to put it in sleep mode and then turn it on in order to get the sound back. So don't say Homer's RIN is perfect!!!

re #16

If your post made any sense at all, I'd retort, but since it's just an uneducated mumble of garbage, I'll just publicly laugh at you! HAHAHAHAHA!

re: # 16

"uneducated mumble" ? let me guess youre one of those self righteous stereotyping homebrew ADHD leechers HA HA
by - 2006-08-16 01:57:13
Stereotyping

Looks like you're the one that likes to stereotype. But since you seem to be asking for it. Let's review. >***** off !! smart bashers Wow, very thought provoking, well educated statement. >questioning the developer's motiviation Since when is there anything wrong with that? You learn by asking question. That's 2/2 for stupid comments >you guys doesnt have a freaking clue on how the C >language work !! Well, I am a SCJP, so no I can't program in C, but I DO have a clue about how it works. However that really has nothing to do with why this EMU was even made, so yet another stupid statement. >bashers obviously dont understand the art of >programming. Almost something useful here. Are you saying that the EMU was made as an expression of creativity? Or are you just babbling again? If I was a betting man . . >not to say, they are just mere freaking "USERS" who can >use FREE homebrews, before you guys complain, make >sure you make a donation first idiots! Could you repeat that in the form of an english statement? And why the heck would I donate money towards something that doesn't even work properly? And if you're going to say to help develop it, then we're right back to the first point. There's already a better EMU out there. If I was going to donate it would be to that developer!
