Snes9xTYLsmcm Test 3 16/05/08 Release - SNES emulator for PSP |
Ó
SNES emulators on the PlayStation Portable are literally a dime-a-dozen thanks to the contributions of the many homebrew developers out there.Case in point, the highly popular Snes9xTYL homebrew emulator was recently picked up by some new developers and has gone through several new improvements.
Released by a group of Japanese homebrew devs this time (as some of you would recal, YoyoFR and Laxer3a were the original coders of Snes9xTYL), this third Snes9xTYL test build of theirs takes care of fixing some of the problems with the sound quality as well as the SRAM emulation. The result was a slightly slower emulation speed, but a more stable overall output from the application.
If you plan on using this SNES emulator, please note that the developer mentioned the occurrence some instability issues, such as random sound skipping and the inability to use the sleep and clock functions. Otherwise, it works pretty well as SNES emulators go. In any case, don't forget to read the included documentation for more information on the current build of Snes9xTYL.

Wait wait wait...this release is even SLOWER? Eum...I thought the only major problem with SNES9x_TYL was the speed. I don't want something that's even slower than slow.
Even if it is getting off to a rocky start, it's great to see someone is continuing work on PSP snes emulation. My fondest memories (gaming wise) are of the SNES era.
It is amazing to hear that some one is going to continue work on this amazing emulator I believe full speed can be achieved It just takes time and some one working on it :)
the fact that it claims it is actually slower hardly convinces me to want to try this out. hopefully something better will actually come of this...
Sorry to put it so harshly but... A psp app needs sleep functionality in order for me to use it at all. Sleep function on psp rocks. Its way more of a Hibernation feature than a Sleep mode. Secondly please hold no hope for snes9x to achieve fullspeed. It is outdated years by zsnes. Zsnes has muuuuch better sound emulation compatibility and stability as well. Please stop teasing the psp community with these efforts in futility the titles are very exciting.
This version achieves same speed as original 0.4.2ME 333MHZ @ 300 MHZ. Plus Settings aren't optimized. --- > First, set speed to 333MHZ > PSP Hw accelerated w/ accur soft > FPS to ON (so that you know the speed). > Save settings as default > Disable CWcheat. Donkey kong is 100% playable at Frame Skip 1 :D -305
I noticed a huge speed up in "Kirby's Super Star". change cpu to 333 MHz (of course) and set frameskip to 2. it's close to full speed.
Load it up in Ir Shell 3.xx version. when you want it in sleep mode, just press L+select to get to the menu of Ir Shell and go into hibernation.
I remember running zsnesw on an old IBM built for windows ME. Kirby's Super Star ran on it as bad as it does on the PSP lol. I forget the CPU speed. Let' s wait and see if these new devs can make it so we don't gotta use frame***** 1 or 2 just to put 100% to a game's speed. I'd play chrono trigger if the sound and speed...never mind..
most of the games you guys want to play are remade on GBA, so just use Gpsp...
Yea I had no idea Starfox and the proper, full resolution and proper sound quality versions of Mario World, Yoshis Island and Link to the Past were ported to the GBA. Silly me, I forgot about the Actraiser port too! Dayum!
What is this game called?
why they always try to make some damn sh!% emus to a very old Console , oh yes i know because they cant do anything better, why dont they waste thier time on making emulators for sega cd or saturn or dreamcast or good N64 or any of the 5th or 6th consoles. oh, again because they cant do any thing right.
thats an awesome tip! damn irshell, is there anything you cant do?
Wanna code it yourself then genius? No? Didn't think so.. You also don't seem to understand hardware limitations. In short: You're an idiot.
there are no actraiser or starfox ports for gba. wth are you referring to?
@ xyal_zx He is being sarcastic. His point being, that even though a select few (very few at that) of the great SNES games actually got ports on the GBA, they did so with lower resolutions, less audio quality, and due to there being less buttons on the GBA then the SNES controller, worse control schemes. @ NEOL Its not that the developers cannot do it, its that not only is the PSPs hardware isnt up to the task. Hell some of the systems you mentioned (Like the DC) are not even full speed on the PC yet.
As for forgetting the SNES emulators, and moving on to something else: if I had to choose one system, right now, to take with me to a deserted island (assuming we had power lol), it would be, without hesitation, the SNES.
FFS I was joking with Strongbadunit. There IS no port and the ports I did mention were substandard, losing resolution and sound quality on the way. Bloody hell fire...
I like this updated emulator. Yoshi's Island is quite playable, Starfox works too. I can even afford to put on VSync on some games now. Good work devs! Keep up the good work.
@pauridius who do you think is the idiot, stupid face, first know who you u r talking to then try to be a smart ass and sec.i know every piece in psp system so i know the hardware limitations, and third yes i am coding one and it will take a while. @thedevilsjester nop the psp is on the jop and can emulate any system i have mention in my post , and for example the DC emulator you have mentioned is working super great in my pc and for your own information there is a DC emulator for psp & the same coder who create the DC emulator on pc is working on it, but i cant give any more details about it because as the coder say he will try and it will take a lot of time and its only a try so dont give much hope, soooo as you can see there is one so please ppl do not try to be a samrt ass because that not healthy.
dreamcast and N64 were of the same generation as PS1. very similar hardware/graphics so it's possible they could in fact be ported. but when you're simply a hobbyist coder with no budget or team like sony has, then it ain't gonna happen. and of course sony won't do it cuz of system rivalry
you have a fully working DC emu? Where can I download this one? wait... there is no one....
o my bad, but your hearing must be sublime to notice those minor changes in sound differential.
is it better than ME++?
