Based on the small progress report, the team is looking at 25-30 fps. They are still mum about the other features of the emulator, but they did say that an early version of the emulator works fine even if the frame rate is only at 14 fps.
Well, several days later, the team posted the videos for your viewing pleasure. It's said to be a "proof of concept", perhaps to silence the unbelievers. Of course, the PSP community would be divided (those who'd say it's real vs. those who'd say it's fake) upon seeing the emulator in action, but that's expected. Interesting videos, but we're still wary of its authenticity. So, until the final version is released, we'd treat this as a "potential" PSX emulator.
By the way, you have to brush up on your French to better appreciate the videos. From what we've gathered, the first video shows an Elite demo, an Amiga demo ported to PSX. If you look closely, you'd see a framerate close to 60. On the other hand, the second video shows a PSX homebrew game called Wargate. Nothing much to see but a spaceship. But that's ok, after all, it's just a proof of concept.

Sick, i always wonderd what i would do when sony realesed the offical PSX emulator and whether or not i would give up 1.5 for it. but IF this is real and IF they are realy on working on it to make it 100% speed it would make my decision alot easier =).

Not dificult to fake (just a screen capture from tv and then resize/convert to MP4 and playback it on PSP) but we have no reazons to believe it´s not.

Wow, surprised me, sounds cool. Unfortunately, I don't believe it. After al; the fake ones we've gone through, especially all the 64 ones, so if it was real, i'd be extremely surprised.
There is one also a video showing a 3D racing game, laggy, but I dunno, 'seems' quite playable to me. Though I'm not sure if they're the same team.

think thye might be able to include some sort of capability to compress iso's or something? i don't know how, but i can't fit 4 cd iso's on one 1 gig card, it's just not going to work.... although, i can't really play through an entire game in one charge of a psp...

Just wondering if a whole team of people wich are near full time dedicated will release the PlayStation emulator just for free... I believe this is a kind of fake, considering the real processing speed of the PSP, wich is the most important thing on emulating purposes, but if it makes uses of the real 3D capabilities of the psp... Well as I said. just wondering.

Too bad I'll never save up enough money for a 4 GB mem stick, because this homebrew would give me more reason to buy one. Anyways, I think it is very possible because the PSP and PSX are probably similar to program.
The so-called PS emulator that Sony will release is probably not a real emulator but just ports because a true emu uses good old-fashioned roms, and that is very different than just porting the game and re-selling it. I'm not paying Sony a dime for a game that I already own, and no one will every make me upgrade my 1.5. (1.5 PSP's are extremely rare and hard to find around here.)
I hope this is real because I might be able to fit a small PSX iso on my 512 if I delete all the other stuff on it.

i thought it would be nice to have a hombrew Psone emu and one made by sony, so you can have a flawless play through ff7 and play games not suported by the sony. that is if you have 2 psp's 1 psp with a mod chip or if thares a downgrader and or devhook support for that firmware. but i can't treat this as true just yet

Say what you want, the story is what brings people back to FF7 all the time. I have no idea how you can possibly think the story to FF9 was better. FF9 probably has the worst story of any game in the series.

And the speed of N64 is 93.75 mhz.

It can be done on the PSP. I'm fairly sure this is real because it should be easier than making an N64 emu. The N64 has to pretty much be hardcoded from the ground up to tell it what to do with a rom. The PSX works differently. It uses a BIOS to tell it how to function (pretty much like wondows) which eliminates most of the core coding. All you would have to do is get a PSP program to run the BIOS and any other components needed then load an ISO with them. Simple (the concept not the coding)

keep in mind the PSP and PSX are different systems and they read and process data differently sir.
A PSX emulator is totaly possible, but we still dont have a full speed GBA emulator so i dont think this is totaly legit. Although i could be wrong.

I think PSone in more near of PSP than GBA.
The problem of the GBA, it is they are a lot of stranges hardware fonctions (Tiles, mode7, sprite with indexed color), and lot of video mods, only 15bits color is easy to emulate but it never used.
And the processor hybrid is strange to, it can execute 16bits and 32bits instructions in the same program.
The hardware of PSone is used for draw polygon, and that PSP can do it.
I remember bleem work when i had my old k6 300 with 3dfx2. the minimum system requirements was a 166mhz with 16Mo.
The question is it is real or not.
When i watch the screenshot of teken2, i see background and polygon bugs.

obviously ps1 will be easier to emulate over n64.... n64...64 bit ps1..... 32 bit....... and also ps1 is made by sony so the psp will run it better because im sure its based on the same desgin. but n64 on psp.... there is a lot more involved.
I simply can not wait for this EMU. I remember when FF7 first came out. I was working nights for Pepsi and got out of work around 2 a.m. I had the rest of the night to play FF7. No one to bother me no interuptions.
Anywho, there are so many other reasons to want this EMU. The original Crash Bandicoot, Castlevania, Parappa, Bust a Groove, R.E. The list is endless. Not to mention this Homebrew EMU would allow us to play any and all available PSone games right now(with consideration to the L2 & R2 buttons). Who knows if that oddball game like maybe Tail of the Sun will even be released through Sony.
Oh and BTW I still work for Pepsi (salesman) and we are going to run a promo pretty soon in which we will give PS3's away. I can't wait!

when will these psp only boys learn things..... ps1 had homebrew aswell which used a swapdisc as i can remember and seeing as the emu is a proof of concept , i would have thought that meant they were able to run the amiga emu through ps1 binary code....... in otherwords they have done what monkey 64 did a while back, created an emulator but have not managed to get commercial roms/iso's to work..........
i think that the buttons will be:
L2 - SELECT + L R2 - SELECT + R
L1 - L R1 - R
D PAD - D PAD X O [] ^ - t he normal buttons
START - START SELECT - SELECT + START
analog will go into the menu
any thats wat i think would be a good button config but anyways as for the emulator looks to good to be real but there is always hope with the sony ps1 emulator coming out so some homebrew developers could use that to make one for FW 1.5
P.s all the ppl that have only the word fake to say u go and make a ps1 emulator if u cant do anything else but dis other ppls efforts

My dad works for Sony and he asked me if i wanted to help . They gave me a psp with 3.00 and a 4gig memory stick the games are all around 20 mb they are going to offer a game to port changer which lets u make all ur ps1 games playable on 3.0 The emulator is under a new icon called playstation there is also ps2 and ps3 connectivity and a game store and music store under network besides the playstation there 3 more icons. Visual(for the new eyetoy) recordings and web chat,Mail for most instant messagers/sms
And the last icon is for gps it lets u upload maps so u dont have to connect to the internet use gps and it tells wat every building is as long as it is the place is in the phone book and where psps are at as long as they are connected to the web or have an uploaded map

i looked and thares no update on it, if anyone wants to know http://www.pspgen.com should be the first site to have news on it (if you can't read french use google to translate). i will look again tomorrow incase it just didin't make it up on the site til much later, if this is not released then QJ should have an article telling anyone that didin't remember the date that the emu was a no show on it's own release date
