PSPVBA v1.0.6 Minor Update |
Ó

A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator that will be compatible with 2.0-2.6 firmware (he's going to downgrade to 1.5 and try to improve speed using kernel access). So, this quick update is quite a surprise. But then again, you know how it is in the homebrew scene, developers just can't keep still knowing that there's still some more work to do. So, Zx-81 is back with PSPVBA v1.0.6, and we're not complaining! We love updates from the homebrew guru! The new version is not teeming with new features as it's only considered a minor update, but still, it makes GBA emulation in our PSP even smoother.
Here's what's new in PSPVBA v1.0.6:
- New screen resize option (Ymin/Ymax) to reduce the size of the screen and then speed up the emulation. This works best in car games such as V-rally 3. It's simple but it hopes to win up to 5% on CPU speed.
- Press Start+Select to return to the emulator menu (whatever the key mapping you have set). This feature overcomes the issue encountered in previous versions, wherein players couldn't go back in the emulator menu because the assigned key isn't responding.
- Added the save battery feature. This is already available in the original VBA source code, but it hasn't been tested in the new version.

HELL YEA

Wahoo....im too old for this :(
he said it may be the last emulator that works on 2.xx, as he was going to start using kernel features
Who said anything about it being the last version of the emu...
w00t w00t w00t
Me
Kernel features will make PSPVBA EVEN BETTER!!!
Zx-81, you should start dealing with kernel.
All you 2.50/2.60 people MUST downgrade.
2.70/2.71ers can't run homebrew, anyway.
So you must deal with kernel.
(HOPING FOR THE 2.70/2.71 SALVATION, EVEN IF I'M AN 1.50 USER)
Keep on, keeping on Zx-81.
@#5, he said last 2.XX update. not all updates alltogether. dont be ignorant and read carefully before making bland statements.
I edited the post to clear things up. Sorry, if that caused you unnecessary panic, #5.
Hey moron #10, you didn't see the same version that I did.
It read:
"A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator for the PSP."
Shut your immature mouth and think before posting.
thank u for the clarification.....saw both edited/unedited versions of post..........confused me a little too.
thanks Maricar V.
Looking Great Zx-81......thanks for contributing to the homebrew scene so much...keep up the good work
yay updates are always good keep up the awsome work
"A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator that will be compatible with 2.0-2.6 firmware"
Yea, learn how to read smart@ass
@#15
How about you learn to read, low life know nothing?
If you could actually read and read the comments, you would know that it originally said:
""A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator for the PSP."
And, if you would read comment #11, you would know that Jamie said that she changed the post.
Go back to playing Pokemon.
kepp it up zx
Holy ***** #10/#15 you are both idots. Your stupidity amazes me.
So uh...just curious...what game is shown in that screenshot up there??
and hey it's good to know he's embracing 1.5 because I would loooooooooooove for a full speed GBA emulator since all we have had are crappy ones so far.
Zx-81 FTW!!!
you don't have to be so weak with your update numbers... 1.06?? do something like 1.10 ... or 1.1.2 or something cool. Of course you don't have to do nothing of the sort. Keep it up dood!!!!!!!!!!
Bigger updates usually result in bigger numbers....changing a little bug here or there shouldnt make it 1.1.0....
i just want the sound and speed to be like nesterj so i can play some F#@$ wario ware
keep up the awesome work
I have a 32 MB memory stick! I have 2.6 but what's the point of downgrading if i will need al my memory to run devhook and all that stuff if I want to play my UMD's
ksnf;k
hey guys what speed (fps) are you getting ??
cmon qj hurry up this is like an hour ago
@19: V-rally 3.
@all: Thanks :).
i don´t know about you but i´m gettin´only 9 fps on my pspvba 1.06 with the minnimun settings is the best this thing can do??
i think that it is a good idea to downgrade to 1.5 and work throught K mode and anyway most psp's are now 1.5 any way so lets have some more updates and better speed!
How is sound on this one?
Something tells me that the Framerate of a normal GBA isnt 60, or 30... what is it? 15?
well good for him and his updates.. i look foward everday to waking up and finding new updates. i thought he was already using kernal mode..since not this will hopefully have major improvement in speed...if sony can make a ps1 emu, the great people can do a gba at full speed. all the snes and genisis emus are perfect now running at full speed.....its only a matter of time before it happens. also how many fps??? really want castlevania and wario ware. for the genisis lovers..try the game called pulseman. would have beat sonic and mario at the time......well mabey not marioworld.
Finally, people are showing appreciation instead of *****ing.
Good work so far on the emulator zx-81. I hope you succeed on the speed and sound issue so I can play all of my great gba games without having to take all my game cartridges with me.
I was wondering if you would be able to add a smoothing option in the future to make it look better.
By the way I have a 2.60 PSP and hope fanjita and ditlev make kernel support soon to help you out possibly on getting the results you seek. I don't want to downgrade my PSP. I like to have troublefree when playing newer games and the other options.
Thanks for all your hard work.
@28: it depends of the game you run ;).
@31: 60 fps ...
@34: image smoothing is for now done using the main CPU (not GPU) so if you want a good looking result, it will be very slow ;).
Pspgba 1.1 which was released ages ago has just been updated to version 1.2. Doesn't sound like the guy wants to continue work on it though.
What game is on the screenshot? Looks cool
ok ok umm i have but a simple reequest and ill be good is it hard for you to make an emulator for 2.0 users i would really apreciate it if it were possible for it to be done
my eloader freezes everytime i load the emu
what does the save battery thing mean. is it that it shows how much battery is left for the psp, or is it used for games like pokemon, where u need the time and stuff, great emulator btw
You are doing a great job man, just like the MSX emlator. You the man...that's all I have to say!!!
zx-81 plz keep working on the gba emulator insted of teh old weird consoles, it will be nice 2 get a full speed gba emulator so i can play pokémon
Thank you zx! you are literally a porting god!
and zx, dont mind 41, im sure hes eager to play full speed pokemon as I am... but I AM CERTAIN that someone out there appretiates your old console emulators as it would bring back a lot of good memory/use their old favorite programs on the beloved psp!
@37 He said the game was V-Rally 3 (made by the same people who made the Stuntman game for GBA)
But anyways as far as FPS goes, I am currently played both Stuntman and V-Rally 3 on VBA on my good computer and the framerate is 20fps. It doesn't change it all but the percentage does so with that said I'm guessing once he gets to 20 fps it will be fine as long as it holds 20fps. Sometimes during 3d games like this and Max Payne my older computers would slow down.
But hey good work mate.
I forgot I had Frameskip on 2 so now that it's on 0 it's at 60fps. But hey the games but playable at 20 so if we can get that great.
And good to hear about kernel mode. There should be a good increase in speed for the next release.
is there a sight w/ gba roms. i found one. adn i really want a star fox one. i got a star fox demo, but i want the star fox REAL GAME. also, on my snes emulator, starfox chagnes the screen to a solid purple color and it continues playinng... but i can't see anything. is that a bad emulator or what. can aybody get that rom to work?
kernal mode is gonna pwn
2.x users can downgrade now :) i did u can 2
halo 3 iz gonna b teh best gam evr!
