PSPVBA v1.0.6 Minor Update |
Ó

A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator that will be compatible with 2.0-2.6 firmware (he's going to downgrade to 1.5 and try to improve speed using kernel access). So, this quick update is quite a surprise. But then again, you know how it is in the homebrew scene, developers just can't keep still knowing that there's still some more work to do. So, Zx-81 is back with PSPVBA v1.0.6, and we're not complaining! We love updates from the homebrew guru! The new version is not teeming with new features as it's only considered a minor update, but still, it makes GBA emulation in our PSP even smoother.
Here's what's new in PSPVBA v1.0.6:
- New screen resize option (Ymin/Ymax) to reduce the size of the screen and then speed up the emulation. This works best in car games such as V-rally 3. It's simple but it hopes to win up to 5% on CPU speed.
- Press Start+Select to return to the emulator menu (whatever the key mapping you have set). This feature overcomes the issue encountered in previous versions, wherein players couldn't go back in the emulator menu because the assigned key isn't responding.
- Added the save battery feature. This is already available in the original VBA source code, but it hasn't been tested in the new version.

Zx-81, you should start dealing with kernel.
All you 2.50/2.60 people MUST downgrade.
2.70/2.71ers can't run homebrew, anyway.
So you must deal with kernel.
(HOPING FOR THE 2.70/2.71 SALVATION, EVEN IF I'M AN 1.50 USER)

Shut your immature mouth and think before posting.

How about you learn to read, low life know nothing?
If you could actually read and read the comments, you would know that it originally said:
""A couple of days ago, Zx-81 said that the PSPVBA V1.0.5 may be the final version of the awesome Gameboy Advance emulator for the PSP."
And, if you would read comment #11, you would know that Jamie said that she changed the post.
Go back to playing Pokemon.

and hey it's good to know he's embracing 1.5 because I would loooooooooooove for a full speed GBA emulator since all we have had are crappy ones so far.
Zx-81 FTW!!!

I was wondering if you would be able to add a smoothing option in the future to make it look better.
By the way I have a 2.60 PSP and hope fanjita and ditlev make kernel support soon to help you out possibly on getting the results you seek. I don't want to downgrade my PSP. I like to have troublefree when playing newer games and the other options.
Thanks for all your hard work.

@31: 60 fps ...
@34: image smoothing is for now done using the main CPU (not GPU) so if you want a good looking result, it will be very slow ;).

and zx, dont mind 41, im sure hes eager to play full speed pokemon as I am... but I AM CERTAIN that someone out there appretiates your old console emulators as it would bring back a lot of good memory/use their old favorite programs on the beloved psp!

But anyways as far as FPS goes, I am currently played both Stuntman and V-Rally 3 on VBA on my good computer and the framerate is 20fps. It doesn't change it all but the percentage does so with that said I'm guessing once he gets to 20 fps it will be fine as long as it holds 20fps. Sometimes during 3d games like this and Max Payne my older computers would slow down.
But hey good work mate.

And good to hear about kernel mode. There should be a good increase in speed for the next release.
