PSPUAE v0.54 |
Ó

Clear the decks for this one, folks. After a one month hiatus, Ric and Fol have finally come out with the new version, v0.54, of their homebrew Amiga emulator PSPUAE. And this is one doozy of an upgrade. They sure were busy during the month of August!
Wanna know what's new? Here's what Fol says:
- Based on e-uae 0.8.29 WIP3
- Ditched harddrive support to gain speed as I still can't get it to work with WIP3
- Removed support for serial ports to gain speed
- Several optimizations to the e-uae code primarily removing stuff that doesn't make a lot of sense on the PSP
- Added cpu speed option - thanks to FOL
- Added profiling support
- Fixed memory issues - now allows 6MB for PSP V1.50 and 5.5MB for PSP V2.00+
- Should run using kxploit and the eloader (So V1.50 release works with all)
- Switched middle and right mouse button
- Fixed screenshot
- only displays leds for 2 drives as only 2 are enabled (will not accept 4 drives as I have disabled the last 2 for performance reasons)
- disabled debugging support (can be enabled again it doesnt really make a performance hit)
- only possible to select valid memory configurations (up to 2 Mb chip, 1.5 Mb bogo and 2.5Mb fast)
- Fixed keyboard mappings
- when mapping keyboard keys to psp buttons the behaviour is to keep the key down until the psp button is released.
- removed 2 drives from the disk menu
- added msg box for when no kickstart rom is present and also for when changing kickstart roms while using PSPUAE
- added msg box for when PSPUAE runs out of memory instead of crashing (makes it very hard to crash PSPUAE now)
- added KickStart 2.04 & 2.05 to the Rom selection menu
For those of you who haven't been able to install PSPUAE before (shame!), please take note of the readme file. Here's to more retro games! Cheers!

I'm gonna give it a try!!! Last AMIGA emu I tried was slow as a turtle race...
anybody know if trackers like octamed work for this?
Is there a way to convert old Amiga format games into an .adf file to use on this emulator? Will a PC floppy drive read an Amiga disk?

Just search the net for downloadable adf files.. theyre about! no, pcs cant read floppys... just download!
Well, very nice to see you guys working on it Hopefully we will see a playable Amiga Emu on PSP somewhen... But: This Emu is still slow as hell.... no fun ! My suggestion: Start porting 0.71 - less compatibility and features but much more speed !!! First versions had been fast enough on a 133Mhz Pentium1 in 1999 You implemented such a lot of features but who can enjoy them if speed is so bad ??? Anyway keep up the good work you´d make lots of people happy ...
No, the speed is great and now you can get the sound to work really great - which mean most games is 100% playable. Its all about to know how the setting should be. For instance, here is setting Im using: Frameskip: 2 Direct VRAM Access: ON Zoom: 0% Chipset: ecs_agnus Collision Mode: Playfields CPU Type: 68000 CPU speed: chipset Fastmen Size: 0kb Chipmen Size: 512kb Bogomen Size: 512kb Sound EMulotion: Normal Stereo: Mono Kickstart: 1.3 Floppy Speed: Normal Show Leds: OFF Havent try to change the option in this releease, but I bet the speed can be improved. Great release, i'm lovin' it.
no thats not true Turrican I + II stuttering using your settings who gets playable results with this emu ??
good luck with octamed man! i've been trying to get trackers running on pocketuae to no avail. i wonder if the author tried image based hard drive files instead of directory based? a REAL tracker on the psp would be nice but it seems like noone gives a ***** enouh to make one.
why dont you make one? or that rick guy.
For turrican, use Fearks settings above and set CPU to chipset. Octamed 5 runs fine, with CPU set to chipset and frameskip 4, plus in octamed turn off wave analyzer in settings. Makes it very usable. Need to play with settings more, as you can get better speed with different options.
