PSPSOne: Playstation Emulator Update |
Ó
When it comes to PSP homebrew, a Playstation One emulator has kind of taken on the aura of the Holy Grail. Everyone wants it, no one can find it. Playing the role of King Arthur in our story is PacManFan who has been searching for the Grail for many, many months. During this time he's made the occasional appearance on our forums to update his progress, but they have been few and far between. But today, our once and future king has returned with impressive news, and a newer alpha build of his PSPSOne Emulator.
I've decided to release another ALPHA version of the PSPSOne emulator as a demo so everyone can see how much the speed has progressed.
No BIOS is required for this demo, I'm using the internal HLE Bios built into the emulator. This is the same Paradox demo I released last year, except this runs much faster.
Some techinical info:
-This version is running with the interpreter CPU core, not the recompiler.
-This is running with full 256x256 textures (I can get better speed with 64x64 or 128x128 textures)
-No sound
-Partial debug loggin enabled
-partially optimized build
I'll add a fps counter to all future versions so you can see speeds for yourself. Remember that this Paradox demo was designed to test the very limits of the Playstation.
Just so there is no misunderstanding, This ALPHA demo is hardwired to play a single psx demo file that I have provided, It will NOT run a game in it's current state. I plan to release a playable BETA version very soon that has a GUI, mapped controls, and the ability to select and load psx/bin/bin.gz files.
Also, would someone with a 2.0 check to see if it works?
Please remember to donate!
Comment welcome.

However, Thought it was impossible to run PSXgame on the PSP. The Amiga EMUlator to PSP doesnt run any game with full speed, which I hope it will do in future, cuz Amiga rulz... But PSXgame would be awsome! That machine had so many great games... SO many...*nostalgic*
Thanks for this and keep up the supergreat work!

A good programmer can program one game to run at 15fps on one machine.
A great programmer can program the same game to run at 20fps on a slower machine.
Nothing is set in stone when many people are involved.

PMF I've been waiting for some news on your journey for so long... I greatly admire your work... I have no regret on donating for your cause, as I know you're working seriously. And we'll be in heaven when it's done (OMG all my PSX games on the go!!!). Keep up your good work... If you'd accept one suggestion - I know you're a busy man, and has not quite that time to dedicate to this project, maybe if you wanted you could create a team (with some guy's such as fanjita) to help improve and achieve your (and mainly ours) so expected goal - the PSPOne. Don't get me wrong, please, I do find you very capable. It's only that as you mentioned before, you have your job and studies now, so I think you could invite some great programmers to help you (it's only a suggestion)...
Keep up your excellent work!!!

Okay, karcsi_925 asked this too but I didn't see an answer to it, so I'll ask it again too:
Does this work or will this work on 2.5 and 2.6 firmwares???
Thx, q.

Look the people with 2.01+ ur never gunna get a downgrader thanks to ur encrypted version file... ( With the exeption of 2.01 mabye ) and all your homebrew needs to be specialy compiled, so why dosnt one of the people with 2.01+ dedicate them selves to learn how to compile the current homebrew against fanjita's gta hack mod.
A somewhat acceptable question would be "Does it work on 2.00 with fanjita's loader?"
BTW all ur gunna have to do is burn your LEGAL PS1 cd's to a binary file, and put it on your psp, totaling in around 500mb to 700mb games ^_^
Oh well, now we wait...

I really have to agree with #56. I really think he quit work on this awsome, free emulator. Sure, sony's making an emulator, but I highly doubt you'll be able to play your own games on there :'(
