PSPSIM v1.0.1 released - SAM Coupe Emulator for PSP |
Ó
Most people probably don't know the SAM Coupe home computer - that's not surprising, as it was a commercial failure which brought it's manufacturer, Miles Gordon Technology, to bankruptcy. Perhaps the SAM Coupe will now get a piece of the popularity it would have deserved as it was a really cool little machine. First released in 1989, it was a 8-bit computer and while being very advanced for that, 16-bit technology was about to be introduced to the mass market. It didn't help either that very few software houses supported the SAM Coupe's development proved to be rather difficult.
Nonetheless, the SAM Coupe software library included lots of disk magazines, as well as ports of popular games like Klax, Lemmings, and Prince Of Persia. And as with many home computers, a tight-knit community exists around the SAM Coupe still today. So there is really some fun to be had with PSPSIM - versions for both FW 1.5 and 2.5 (using Fanjita's eLoader) are provided.

FIRST COMMENT. ***** YA'LL.
The guys who make these "first comment" posts that don't contribute to the blog need to be IP banned, it's getting annoying. Anyways, zx, goddamn, you turn out a new emulator like every week! I'm not telling you to slow down though, you're doing a great job! I never heard of this SAM Coupe before though, but I will check it.
I've never heard about this Sam coupe as well, two weeks ago lol !
1989 was pretty late for an 8 bit computer. I'm sure it's not a bad machine, but too little too late. The first 16 bit home computer was made by Texas Insturments around 1983 I think.
Best thought of as a true sequal to the humble sinclair spectrum. Great work on the emulator, I'd still like to see a zx speccy emulator from this guy, not too keen on the existing one.
i asked a question about if its possible to play downloaded games and i dont go to fourms much so i havent read the guide that tells us not to ask questions about that which i didnt know and now the mofo's banned me for a fkn week. thats so *****n gay. i just hope that the dont "censor" me!!!
This is great :D This guy is an emulating machine!
does this work on 2.6 and is this emu only got 2d games?
It should work for 2.6. You should find "2d1/2" games for this emu, but don't hope to play a FPS in 3D.
Yay I can finally play my Duck Hunt game I wrote for the sam back in the good ol days. http://www.podboy.demon.co.uk/coupe/fred/issues/fred55.html Used to love that computer. he he. Matt.
got this beauty machine some years ago, now i have one in my pocket :>. if you've never heard of sam: it was a zx spectrum on steroids: half meg ram, 3,5" floppy, ay chip, midi, more colors, better resolution etc etc.
