PSPSIM Roars to Life with v1.0.3 |
Ó
Months and months have rolled by and at last, we have an update for another Zx-81 emulator. The good homebrew developer recently updated his SamCoupé Emulator for the PSP, PSPSIM, to version 1.0.3. In case your memory banks ain't giving you a clear picture of this one, the last update was dished out by Zx last May and from then on, it has remain silent.
But now, it is roaring back with a vengeance thanks to Zx, with the help of Mr Nick666 in the graphics and settings files department. Just to give you some info on what a SAM Coupé home PC is, the product was released some time in 1989. If it's the first time you're hearing about it, that's not surprising.
Apparently, it flopped in the market and the company that made them, Miles Gordon Technology went bankrupt. Anyhow, a SAM Coupé home PC was capable of playing early version of Lemmings, Prince of Persia, and Klax. It was an 8-bit computer which was like the thing of the future at that time.
Shifting our focus back at Zx-81's creation, here is the changelog for v1.0.3.
- Icons and background images designed by Mr Nick666
- Emulator menus reorganisation (new menu for settings)
- The percent of battery left is now displayed in the emulator window
- Add a watchdog to automatically return to the emulator menu when the battery is very low (< 5%)
- New feature to save and load a distinct setting file for each games
- Add keyboard change skin option (you can add your own virtual keyboard images in the graphics directory).
- Delete files option (in the file selector)
- Screenshots are now saved in PNG format instead of BMP

OMG GUYS THIS HAS BEEN UP AT PSP-HACKS for like an HOUR! WHAT TAKES YOU GUYS SO LONG TO POST NEWS!!?
lol, sorry, I know some ass-hat is going to say something like that, so I tought I'd beat them to it.
I think if a news item is posted the day it happened, it's not late. I have no idead why people give a hard time over an hour or so. Lame.
As for the emu. . .I doubt I'll ever have any interest in it.
what kinds of games does this thing have? please someone make a virtual boy emu or port reality boy.
Most people who had spectrums (ie mainly people in UK and Spain) through the eighties would have heard of this machine. Great graphics for the day, but sadly it was soon eclipsed by the likes of the Amiga and ST.
I meant red dragon, not reality boy. reality boy sucks.
