PSPMSX v1.0.5

Zx-81 is really on a roll! Imagine, in a span of a week he has come up with not one, not two, but four updates of his creation- the PSPMSX. And it is not surprising that the good developer has once again updated this homebrew emulator to the PSPMSX v1.0.5. Now that is a miracle worker!

Anyways, if you wanna know what is new in this latest update, here it is:
  • Option to eject the rom
  • Disk change doesn't reboot anymore the MSX (useful to play games with multiple disks)
  • Sound improvement
Zx-81 also extends his thanks to Paul Boselaar for his help on the sound issue, his advices and useful feedback. In case you are at a lost on what to do, everything is in the README.txt file, which will surely be helpful to newbies. According to Zx-81, "sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license, read COPYING.txt file for more information about it." Surely, the developer will appreciate your constructive criticisms and observations about the homebrew emulator, so don't hesitate to think out loud through your comments.

No offense again

Four updates to PSPMSX, four to his Intellivision one, all in the span of a week. 8 updates wasting space on PSPupdate's blog that could've just been one. Please, just once a week send out releases of the things your working on, and end it there.

No offense, h

Nah, send 'em out when you've got 'em, ZX. Ignore the n00bs who've never programmed a line of code in their lives.

Alienating your userbase

One of the most important thing about programming well is to come up with a predictable release schedule, and one that does not flood your userbase with updates. Don't act like every person who has a complaint about the number of updates by ZX is a 12 year old who wouldn't know programming from writing a short story on ducks. I -have- programmed, at least in small bits, and am going to be doing more in the future.

I agree with #3

Go figure. 2 posts in and someone is already crying about Zx-81's hard work and constant updates. To the crying baby that posted the #2 comment...regular updates like these are common when new emulators are released. Doesn't matter which system it's for, it'll ALWAYS get updated every 1-2 days until all the minor bugs are worked out of it. Remember the NeoGeo CD emulator? (oh, you prob don't because the system is more than 5 years old) Anyway, that one got updated at least twice a day until all the bugs got worked out of it and the updates finally slowed down. We love you ZX-81!!!

Ridiculous...

There are a lot of very successful software designers that have extremely unpredictable release cycles - Slysoft (AnyDVD) and their products come out at random times, and G-Force Screensaver to name a couple off the top of my head. These guys are top notch programmers and have no "release schedule," but make plenty of money off their software. Why would I expect homebrew programmers who aren't getting paid to set out release schedules like Mozilla? You aren't paying for it, so get over it.

#4....WTF?

Predictable release schedules??? WTF? ZX-81 is just some dude programing some old homebrew emulators for the PSP (for free). It's not like he's programing for Microsoft. LOL!

@all

thanks :) @4: i wish you to develop as many (free) software as i already do ;) ... i ve begun more than 25 years ago, but you're so good, you gonna do more in few days, and i will call you god !

give up now please

you bleat on about how good you are, you say produce as much programs as me, no one else produces as much as you because- a) most developers at least try to put some effort into producing something good b) most of them dont produce so many buggy programs c) most of them dont produce so many pointless updates d) most of them would rather be known for producing quality not quantity e) most of them dont like there names in lights as much as you obviously do i just wish for once, you either produce something original, modern, or you ported something up to date! Now i know it may scare you, that you'd actually have to put effort into your programming but enuff's enuff please just give it a rest now, lets have a month or so without stupid olde worlde emulators, try and get a gameboy advance working or something, and before you bleat on about it too hard, you say you've been programming for years, so find a way round it, if they can get an n64 running (yes i know it slow at the mo but they're at least trying) you should be able to do GBA, and if you do we'd all be very grateful, but this is just lazing programming and a waste of time

OMG !

I'm really impressed by the amount of pointless arguments crammed in some of the negative comments above. All done by people who could not even start to do the things zx-81 does, or worse, to do the ones they ask him to do (N64 and GBA emus). How ironic...

To comment #16

Haven't it passed on your mind that zx-81 could not be interested in programming the emus YOU'd like him to program ? If he doesn't program the stuff you want, then he is not good at programming ? Do you really think he has to prove something to YOU ? Sometimes life is more amazing than fiction...

take a break

seriously m8, have a break. u spend loads of time makin these, and not many ppl want them.
by - 2006-06-12 11:57:44
@20

You just don't know how wrong you are.... But anyway, what could I expect from someone so arrogant and supposing to think himself as the real 'modern' person and all the other people around as 'geeks'? Go and learn some C++, and when you've got something 'original' to show us, we will leave some pointless negative comment on it...
by - 2006-06-12 12:55:58
@22

calm down old man, im not calling everyone geeks just the old folk here like you, your probly in your late 30's going on 40, scruffy hair, poor eyesight, still live with your mummy, got a top notch pc and stuff coz thats all you spend your money on and all you do is go on the computer/psp, coz your too old to have a life and you've got nothing better to do than play really old crap while wondering what happened to the last 20 years..... Basically you wouldn't know fanny if it sat on your face

@weirdocollector: thanks :). BTW, i won't read or answer comments anymore on PSU , i'm a bit fed up to read stupid comments like "your emu sux, zx is a g a y" by annonymous retarded childs ... i'm really sorry for others who do enjoy those old-school stuff, or who have real technical questions or requests. My blog is still open. This was my last comment.
