PSP MAME4ALL 4.9r1 Hires - Image 1Developer TTYman's letting the word out that he's releasing a new build of his Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME) homebrew, dubbed PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r1 Hires. At the forefront of this new build is an EBOOT built specifically for the PSP Slim - it should be available (and clearly marked) in the file bundle alongside the standard (PSP Fat) version.

Moving on, here are the rest of the noted changes since MAME4ALL v4.7r3 Hires:
  • Crash when sampled used.
  • Unified builds, thanks to new Z80 core, Mame 0.53 based, compatible with system16, neogeo and classic roms.
  • Implemented PSP-2000 (slim) specific support, so double memory available to load roms, thanks to keiich-san code.
Installation and full changelog details should be available in the file's readme. Guys interested in posting their feedback regarding PSP MAME4ALL will also want to visit TTYman's release site. Enjoy the download.

I'd be more enthusiastic if I could find a compatibility list for this particular version of MAME.

Okay, what exactly does this mean, a new build is coming down the road?? surprise surprise!! QJ writers are idiots sometimes... a room of 5 monkeys with typewriters could do better!

"Also to look out for is a new update which gives PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r1 Hires better compatibility with roms of our favorite arcade classics. Visit the full article for the comprehensive changelog. " - okay so i'm looking... ?

This is the best release I have yet to put on the PSP. So many games are near perfect even with sound!!!!

to name a few

MS Pacman

1941, 9142, Ikari, Galaga, Gyruss, Galaxian

Commando,Gunsmo ke,Asteroids Deluxe, Donkey Kong,

battlezone (sound is still messed up)

gorf, ghouls and ghosts

missile Command

side arms

silkworm

space duel (still cant get selection to start game)

Star Trek no sound

Star Wars bad sound

Stargate

Tapper sound is bad

twin cobra

two tigers

Xevious (perfect)

Zaxxon no sound

I dont have samples to test with and still have many more roms to try but this is finally a MAME worth having on the MIGHTY PSP!!!!

I have a Slim, but still use (and prefer) my phat. Does anyone know if this release is compatible with both Slim and fat?

# have to try this!delta191 2007-11-05 19:23
been waiting for the new release, i'm so glad TTyman is still trying to get mame on the PSP, he deserves credit, i've followed his progress and he keeps posting updates fairly regular.

my main gripe was that when you included sound samples, the emulator crashed a few seconds after playing. not good.

I'll try this version and post back.

thanx TTyman ;O)

# none working on phat or slim 3.71 m33delta191 2007-11-05 20:57
TTYman I have tried evrything on my psp slim with 3.71 m33 and on my phat psp with 3.71 m33 with 1.5 kernel mode, neither work, just a black screen then psp shutdown.

there is a major problem here, not sure if its with the 3.71 m33.

looks like other people have the same problem, what firmware have you tested it on?
