PSP MAME4ALL v4.7r3 Hires |
Ó
PSP Homebrew developer TTYman is back to keep the old school emulation action on the PSP alive! This time, he comes with good things, as well as the latest version for the epic piece of software that lets us play MAME games on the go, PSP MAME4ALL v4.7r3.
Lots of bug fixes and overall improvements on this one, and most of them have to do with the cute chirping sounds those good retro games make as you're having your way with them. Let's check the changelog and see what's been modified from the previous version:
Fixed from v4.7r2
- Sounds now are near arcade perfect, with minor glitches in some sound chips emulations;
- Gold (CPS1, System16 and Neogeo) specific emulations are now stand-alone, as require different z80 cpu implementation
- Improved performance with sounds, oldies with 0 frame skip and vsync on, others with auto-1 and auto-2
- 22KHz with 16 voices predefined sounds
- 33KHz and 44KHz frequencies with 4, 8 and 16 voices combinations added
- Preliminary analog support

Comments [refresh]
Is that not all games even work on this emulator and some
games that do work are very slow. The rest run find or
normal.
Thanks for keeping it updated though.
huh?
in this release; now I can get my arcade ninja gaiden on!!
Games I tried so far using the complete verified GPX 4.7 MAME romset MAME GP2X GAMELIST (1202 romsets)
10 yard Fight (seems good)
Donkey Kong -US- (played a bit slow and sound was glitchy.... OK for 20 seconds then locked up my PSP.. need to reboot.
I will try more in a bit. Also.. I can't figure out how to quit the game to the main menu.. I tried everything I could and even read the README...
It says
"Buttons L+R+PUSH, L+R+START or L+R+SELECT simultaneously: Exit to selection menu to select another game."
Please help with this. Anyone else getting a complete lock up while playing a game? It locks, then turns off my PSP.
I am using an original PSP running 3.40-oe firmware. Every other emulator and homebrew work perfectly.. I really wanted this to be the one!
I struggled with this for a few minutes, but the trick is how long you hold down L+R. If you click both buttons quickly, the screen size will change. If done multiple times, you can find the one you like best (stretched for me, like my lady friend , haha). If you hold L+R for a couple of seconds, a screen will show that you can press 'Home' to go back to the game menu. Hope this helps. Good emulator!! Frameskip at 3 or 4, change the PSP to 333 mHz, put video at 160%, and most games will run smoothly, if not fast. Adjust accordingly. Thanks tty! Only problem is analog sticks at points in the game; when you try to move, it won't allow it for a second or two.
I know it's not much, coming from a noob like me, but THANKS a lot for your hard work in advancing the homebrew scene! I appreciate your hardwork, and hope you the best of luck in perfecting your project!
Also, incidentally, had I not been a pda geek a few years back, I would have misread the title of this article as PSPMAME4Allv4.73r "hires". As in "the boss hires many people". Of course, I've since learned that hires is a misspelling of hi-res.
Kind of random, but then again, so am I!
I cant get this to work, I get a black screen then psp reset.
I,ve tried it on 3.71 m33 4 psp
and on slim psp with 3.60 m33
can anyone confirm that it works on any of the above?
I wish the older games could run at full speed without audio hiccups though.
I find that the 2nd FIXED video mode looks the best on the PSP.. no crunched lines. A vertical option would be great for the old Namco games and shooters.. etc.
L+R hold for 2 seconds does in fact brings up quit to menu screen. Thanks to Curt Blizzah for letting me know. :)
DK JR, Dig-Dug work great.
Double Dragon takes a loooong time to get out of the WORK RAM screen... I gave up on it after about 5 minutes of waiting.
Galaga works nice, a few audio blips here and there,
Gauntlet (good), Ghosts N Goblins (great), Jungle King (great), Lifeforce (slow), Mable Madness ( little slow)
Mario Bros. Played great for a while then gave me the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH :( Argh...
I hope this keep improving.. it still has a lot of room for improvement.
It's here! I'm really hoping this project keeps progressing.
If anyone is interested, I cant get this working on my 8 gig pro duo memory stick! very odd, it does work on my 2 gig one.
still has major unstability issues, everytime I play old favourites like space invaders with my mame 0.34 roms and samples, it plays for quite some time, then crashes the psp, totally locking it and power off.
games that dont use samples seem more stable however.
we have analogue support, which helps no end.
It's getting better and better and I really plead for continued work, many many thanks TTYman.
I'm not touching this until it can play The Simpson's Arcade Game, oh and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I'm guessing it's a bootleg. Unfortunately there's a ton of bootleg cards out now. If you buy it from ebay or some other unauthorized seller you really can't tell. You certainly can't base it on Feedback either since many buyer's leave feedback before filling the card to it's maximum capacitiy so the seller might be selling boots and have 100% FB.
If your card has any corruption beyond a certain size : IE 2GB, 4GB it might be fake. They just use a smaller card and print 8GB on it. My friend bought a 4GB card off ebay and it turned out to be a 512MB card.
Good luck
It would be an awesome unlockable in the new Simpsons game. Maybe you could stumble through an arcade and see the classic Konami arcade cabinet and walk up and play a game
I have no idea if it's in there. Just saying if it is than EA rocks!
no, the pro duo stick is fine with other stuff, iso's and emulators, almost upto the 8 gig limit. when i run it off the 8gig stick, the emuator goes to black screen and psp powers off.
no idea why at all.
works on my 2 gig anyways.
just need sample support without crashing now.
This emulator works good when it works, but has weird problems.
Sometimes after selecting a rom, the screen freezes and I can't change anything or start the rom. I have to reboot. Also the music is annoying and too loud. I'm going to delete it and see if the emulator still runs.
anyone want to see this in action, I have posted my video on u tube to let you see how it runs!
