PSP homebrew - Snes9X Euphoria R2.1 |
Ó
Homebrew coder Zack has dropped by our forums to release a new update for Snes9X Euphoria, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulators for the PSP based on Ruka's Snes9xTyl. The latest update is mostly a bug fix release.
Changelogs:
Version R2.1:
- fixes a bug with loading a new rom (it would crash the psp)
- Bug where you couldn't have more than 200 roms in the ROMS folder or the emulator would crash is now fixed. (I tested with 800 roms in there)
- Bug where the emulator would freeze then hard-power-off your PSP after trying to load more than 3 roms is now fixed. (I tried loading rom after rom at least 12 times with no issues)
- Bug where you couldn't return to the menu after running a game is now fixed. (thank god lol)
- Bug where emulator would hard-power-off PSP when exiting rather than return to the Xmb is now fixed (both in file menu and main menu)
- Bug where the emulator wouldn't start on Gen firmware fixed (tested by myself on 5.50GenC and Cmbeke on 5.50GenB)
- Possible minor speedups from code cleanup.
- Removed the intro screen for now. (will be configurable in the next build)
- Added the latest version of the snesadvance.dat file (Adds more speedhacks)

Comments [refresh]
zack, you're a good person :)
So, I gave this release a run around as well. First, the good news:
The menu bug is fixed! Also, the rendering priority is also fixed, meaning things like characters being in front of what they should be, and text overlays display properly.
Now, the bad news:
While the menu bug was fixed, now when you go to the menu, it says "Please wait" for about five seconds, every time, before leaving the game. Also, with the graphical glitch fix, there's a new one. Thankfully, you won't see this one much. Occasionally, you'll get black horizontal "tearing" lines across the screen. An easy way to see this is to make a message pop up on screen, like setting engine change to a key, and using it. Turning on VSync will fix this, though. Also, it says "Building ROM list... Please wait" every time you go to load a new game, or when you start up the emulator (I have almost 800 games though, so it may be a very quick flash of a message for anyone else). Also sadly, the speed increase still isn't there. I'm getting identical FPS to the previous versions, and compared to TYL.
Don't take this all as me complaining, I'm simply giving feedback to the author (which I hope he sees this). Anyone doing work on SNES is good in my book.
Plays DKC with Speed limit FPS auto, Frameskip Auto, PSP Accelerated, Sound at lowest, CPU Frequency 222.. I havent tried any other games just yet but this one is working awesome. THanks so much! I'll probably try Mario RPG tomorrow lol
to see that someone is working to create a faster snes emulator, and some of the gliches and bugs are gone But... ^^
take a look at Zelda - A link to the past!
Links shield is on his back instead of in his hands :S
And there is some other Layer order problems to,
But I dont know if its only for zelda..
Anyway! Great great great to see someone working on this
Now this is an update, every thing he did is a great improvement, thanks man.
You have to equip the shield, and press the assigned button to use it.
Frames on SMRPG are much better than before, is there anyway I can contact you directly so I can point out what needs to be worked on? I most likely would run through all the high profile SNES games. It has a bug when you quit, it freezes.
HAha wow, no you don't! No you don't! The shield is automatic in LTTP and should be infront of the player.
Hahah. Still wow!
The map in Zelda doesn't work. Super Metroid is very broke.
Going back to the last version that worked.
Stupid question and I'm sure this is my fault...I can't find the ROMs folder...or the Snes9XEuphoria folder for that matter. My structure is F:/PSP/GAMES/Snes9XEuphoria
ROMS folder is in the Snes9XEuphoria folder, which is not displayed when I navigate through the emu
If anyone would be as kind as to point out the error in my ways
PSP 2000 M33
Say it isn't so, not Metroid, aren't there laws or something?
I had the same problem once with Snes9x tyl ^^ However I solved it. The problem was that the snes folder was marked as hidden so I jusst unmarked (Hidden) from my computer ^^
Jusst right click on the Snes9XEuphoria folder and go down to properties and then you uncheck the (Hidden) box and click apply!
Try that :) worked for me
Your roms folder may be set to (hidden).
But you should make sure that none of your snes folders are hidden caus it seems that the emulator does not detect hidden folders.
There was a bug that caused the CPU speed to allways stay at 333. Even if I put it on 222.
How I found it out:
- Irshell
- When putting speed to 333, check FPS, then put it back to 222, the FPS is allways the same. (about 200 frames)
If you can fix this anoying bug our battery can last like 30% longer!!
it didn't work for me at first either. You have to adjust the settings for it to show correctly. Hold L+R, then press select (or start, I don't remember) to scroll through the different modes. Some of them show the map correctly.
In case anyone else is having the same problem I was, ensure that archive is NOT checked - r click on folder, properties and uncheck archive,,,fixed everything.
Next, confirmed that Super Metroid is way screwed-up!
Thank you sickofitall. Only thing is I don't want to be doing that, I want the emulator to work as well as it used to.
Shame I overwrote it... I had my own icon for the last version too :(
