A pleasant surprise has sprung up from deep in the night, thanks to the DaedalusX64 Team. The latest build, Alpha Rev 436, for their on-going wonder project, DaedalusX64, has just been released.

Team member Kreationz provides the changelog for this release, revealing that this is mostly for fixing stability issues:
  • [~]Fixed a compiler warning
  • [!]Fixed Batch Test framework to not need Asserts to compile [Bug #47]
  • [~]Fixed typo on the Advanced Options Menu [Bug #53]
  • [!]Fixed Paper Mario not playable for more than ~30 seconds [Bug #44] Note: Still has freezing issues just not as often]
  • [~]Leveraged similarities between the PSP and N64 Float registers [Smaller Code] Note: More work to be done with other registers
  • [~]Reverted part of changes in 432 so KnownValues are handled again. [Small speed-up under certain circumstances]  Note: Need to finish testing these so faster code is earlier in logic
Tip from Jock K.

» yay

love the fact that this gets updated on a regular basis :)

i have deffinitly noticed a speed difference within the last 5 or so revisions

mario 64 works full speed with sound (but lags a bti when alot is going on)

and super smash bros is nearly there

» yeah

i'm with you on the smash bros. thing, it's the only reason why i use Daedalus (best game ever)

i have been testing Zelda OoT every once in a while, and that game's pretty good too as far as speed, just that the text displays all screwy sometimes

» @thrik

Go into preferences in the emulator, and change Texture Update Check from Disabled to every 10 or 15 frames.

That will cure the text problem.

Hope that helps. :o)

I never thought i would actually see the day where an n64 emulator was running so well on a psp n___n

» nice

thanks dude, do you have any other tips on getting OoT to run better/faster?

by haxor - 2009-10-18 06:43
» i knows

most games ive tried are running at either full speed or near full speed.

a few games can even run full speed with sound but thats still something that needs to be worked on

» Great!

I tried this one but i noticed that they still haven't fixed the bug in Mario64 where using async audio, the sound crashes and does nothing, then eventually after that the game freezes.

MarioKart64 has a small speedup especially when i changed some things in the advanced menu.

Pokemon Stadium 2 Runs great, a lot of the missing textures show up now, and there is almost no lag when sound is off.

Starcraft still wont load and gets stuck at a black screen no matter what i do.

» hey

for starcraft try both PAL and NTSC versions, it sometimes makes a difference

and using syncrious audio (cant spell) in mario 64 works fine with me, the async tends to be more buggy

» Yeah...........

try this, frameskip set to 2, will make a big difference.

Try looking at the compatibility list found here->

i find it funny that a year ago people said it would be impossible to run n64 game at a playable speed. Im glad you proved them wrong

» Hmm

Never convinced to actually use this. But from the positive comments and the lack of negative ones it seems this emu is really going uphill...

Might just try it out :)

I hope some day I can play Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2, and Super Smash Bros at full speed (with sound) in PSP. That would be AWEOSOME.
