PicoDrive: A Sega Genesis/Sega CD emulator for the PSP |
Listed in: Homebrew Emulators, Emulators Tags: BIOS, notaz, PicoDrive, Pocket PC, psp homebrew emulators, Sega Genesis
Ó
Homebrew developer notaz has ported PicoDrive to the PSP. Based on Dave's (fdave, finalburn)
PicoDrive 0.30 for Pocket PC and
Stephane Dallongeville's Gens, this application is an emulator for Sega Genesis/ Megadrive and Sega CD/ Mega CD games. While the application lacks some of the "fancier" options such as dynarecs/asm cores, it can run most games at full speed without having to resort to using frameskip and uses hardware MP3 decoding via the audio codec library of the PSP. Since the emulator is still in its early phases of development, it still has some VDP quirks and may have a few glitches because of inaccurate timing and sync between the emulated chips.
More details on how to use this application can be found in the comprehensive documentation included with the emulator, so be sure to go over it before doing anything. That said, enjoy PicoDrive.

Full speed on almost every Sega CD game I've tried so far. Genesis emulation is also significantly faster than in DGen.

but PROPS!
I've been waiting for a scd emu for a while now to play the good ol' sonic and lunar and stuff.
scd had some great no name games as it didn't really make a big impact.

Don't be a fanboy iamback, I love Nintendo as much as the next guy, but even the DS version was a port of the Pocket PC Version.

First off thanks for hosting this file QJ.net. Thanks notaz this release is emmaculate, thanks for making a decent GUI too makes and breaks an emu if you ask me.
I cant believe how nice this runs. I mean we all expect a lot more from our hardware but after 3-4 years without a decent genesis emulator you begin to loose faith that anyone has any interest at all.
Audio is great too. Not perfect but much better than a lot of other smd emus ive used.
THANKS THANKS THANKS! This first release owns all other emus so far. GOOD JOB!

Have to tweak it to get Sonic CD runnin', both other than that, PURE PSP gold.
If it has suppoer for 32X games, then I would REALLY worship you as the new Jesus Christ. (Just kiddin', DA is the Jesus of the PSP, but I would still love you nonetheless.)

I mean, take a poll here and ask people "What system was Daedalus, the Nintendo 64 emulator, designed for?" And I bet 8/10 people will reply "The PSP, doofus!". The other 2/10 people will immediately shout out the correct response: The PC. So, I guess I'm not a fanboy after all. I hope. :)

a. Did you get that (unregistered) idea from me? If so, I guess that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", so thanks
b. As for the reply, thanks for telling me about the Sega Saturn's complications. I knew that the PC was bad at emulating it, but I just assumed that no one cared enough about it to continue work on emulation (Kind of how the DreamCast emulator isn't being developed anymore, to the best of my knowledge). Kewl, and thanks again, lol(unregistere d).
