Ó

Let us begin with a refresher course on Odyssey for a better understanding of what this emulator is all about. The Magnavox Odyssey is the first home video game console, predating the Atari Pong home consoles by three years. To show how ancient it is to play the games, the user had to place special plastic overlays on the screen that had all the background graphics of the games, because the system could not display them. It uses two joystick controllers to control characters.

I had a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out how everything worked at first. I think this is because of the fact that I haven't used an Odyssey before. Good thing there's a controller guide along with the application. Personally, I think the right trigger could still be utilized to make the controls much easier to handle.

The game that's included is called Acrobat. Basically, you'd have to jump from the platform to the see-saw to catapult your partner toward the balls situated on top of the screen. Aside from the controls being a little bit tricky, just estimating your landing is quite a task. Trial and error proved to be the best solution.

According to Consolius' Read Me File: "Executing this emulator several times results in no sound anymore until a cold reboot of the PSP. It has been tested on a 2.5 firmware, executed through the eLoader."

If your craving for some old school gaming, then this emulator is definitely for you.

This is a Odyssey or Odyssey 2 emulator?

The text says Odyssey but the screenshots like Odyssey 2.

It does the odyssey2 roms perfectly. Haven't found any odyssey roms to try. This lools like it's based off of the O2EM emulator so you can double check with the specs with that one. I'm assuming no odyssey support.

Make sure your 'roms' folder is in the root of your Memory Stick. So the structure goes X:\roms\romsodd \{your roms here}. (where 'X' is the drive letter of your Memory Stick).

I also had to run the EBOOT through the KXploit tool to make it work on my 1.5

Good Luck.

i mean X:_roms_romsodd _{your roms here}

substitute the underscore for a slash. I didn't know slashes were not allowed. :D

# Not odyssey...Guest 2006-05-27 17:04
This is definately not an odyssey emulator, but an odyssey2 emulator. The original odyssey didn't have the ability to display anything approaching that amount of detail, and it didn't have any kind of on-screen numbers for scoring or anything. the console itself actually had sliders on them so you could keep score yourself.
