NJ has been hard at work trying to fix the bugs from the latest version of his Capcom Play System 2 emulator for the PSP, and you'll be happy to know that all of his hard work has paid off in this, the latest version of his CPS2 emulator your PSPs. Bad translations have led to a bit of confusion over this release, but we'll do our best to put across to you the updates in this version as best we can. NJ did originally release this emulator yesterday, but after a wealth of bugs were discovered, NJ wiped the file from his website until he could fix the bugs. Lucky for you, the time for this fixed release is now!

First of, this version is a derivative of the already released CPS2 emulator test version 5 with added bug fixes. From what we can gather from NJ's explanation, turning the sound off doesn't really increase speed, and if it does it will only increase by around 1fps. Speed and stability have been improved on many games including Street fighter ZERO 2. Along with bug fixes, here is what you can expect in this new version of NJ's CPS2 emulator:
  • Performed operation check with eLoader 0.98.
  • Used firmware 2.6/TA-082 PSP with the CPS2PSP
  • It displays the menu but freezes when loading the cache file due to memory issues.
  • Applications more than 11MB could encounter issues. Less than that is okay.
  • GTA Loader version works properly
  • Smaller games (zip files under 10MB) should run.
  • Make the same change to NGEPSP and CPS1PSP as well.
  • Applications run better with the GTA loader, and not the TIFF loader but works best with FW1.5.
Any problems you may have had with yesterdays version should have been fixed in this version as well as having the above features added to this excellent emulator - thanks NJ!

by KuffoMan_11 - 2006-09-10 13:58:51
Awsome

MvC is running way smoother, and that rom I think is the best one you can get for CPS-2, oh yeah, and Street Fighter Alpha 3. Whatever happened to NeoGeo?

rom size

why are they sooo big
by - 2006-09-10 15:48:05
save space

u can make the roms smaller by deleting some files after u make the cache for the rom. it saves alot of space. i forget which files u could delete though. look around the forums.

WHERE TO DOWNLOAD ROMS?

WHERE TO DOWNLOAD ROMS? ANY IDEA? I WOULD LIKE TO DOWNLOAD DUNGEON AND DRAGON
by - 2006-09-10 18:40:10
Cache?

I have version 4 but not 5. I remember it saying that I had to redo all the cach to use version 5 and I decided I didn't want to do that. If I upgrade with this, would I have to redo cache?
by - 2006-09-10 19:31:08
RE: Cache?

Yes you have to remake the cache. I tried using the old cache but it didn't work on the newest version.
by - 2006-09-10 19:34:03

AWESOME JOB NJ !!

To those still tring to get it to work, whatever site your downloading from, make sure you cache and test all versions of the rom. NOT ALL VERSION WORK; however, ONE WILL WORK !! Best of luck on future release NJ and cant wait to play the vs games at full speed !! ^_^
by - 2006-09-10 20:38:43

Giga Wing has problems as well it runs very well but black lines will start to appear from the bottom of the psp good luck with all the bugs NJ!!!!
by - 2006-09-10 20:50:15

Just awesome!! I hope NJ Plans to do continue on this!!
by - 2006-09-11 09:55:14
Some advice for you guys

If you already have emulator test version 5, then there's no need to download this one, cause otherwise you have to make all those cache-files over and over again. This beta version actually doesn't offer any great improvements compared to test version 5, which already can load ALL of CPS2 games in almost full-speed without noticeable bugs. Let's hope that NJ is bringing us a new version with ad-hoc functionalities!
