NeoGeoJust one day after the release of the NeoGeo Emulator beta 3, NJ has updated his brilliant NeoGeo emulator for the PSP to beta 4! Japanese devs are truly quick - I'm sure NJ could even give Zx-81 a run for his money!

QJ's resident translator/blogger/all around wonder guy Jeff Chen has been kind enough to translate the changelog for us, and here's what it says:

  • The file browser will now display game names instead of the zip file name. If the zip file name is correct (MAME 0.106's file name), the game name will be displayed correctly. If the zip file name is not correct, it will be displayed in red color (and it will not be playable as well).
  • When using the Japanese version, please decompress the enclosed resouce_jp.zip into the ngepsp folder. This way, the game names will be displayed in Japanese.
There you have it, now you can name your zip files whatever you want and still have the correct game name display in this wonderful NeoGeo emulator for the PSP. NeoGeo Emulator beta 4 comes packaged in a zip file with 1.0 and 1.5 formatted eboots, as well as a converter application for Windows.

can someone please make a full speed one that doesn't use MAME as its core? I hate having to put the files in the exact right place and have the exact right file name. It is dumb. It is easier just to browse for files

» this is awesome.

#3- You'll need to find the bios and place it under psp/game/ngepsp/roms in order for it to work. Just google it (neogeo bios).

#5- The larger games will work, but you'll have to create cache files for them beforehand. Use the included converter to make cache files, then place the caches under psp/game/ngepsp/cache. Trust me,this is MUCH better than the NGCD emu (more games).

hope this helps.

» Nice Progress!!!!!

OOOMMMMFFFGGG!!

These guys rock.

Thats all I can say.

All I ever wanted was Fatal Fury 2 working on my PSP. The orig arcade, or NEO-GEO cart version. The sound. It is FTW. Nothing in that era could top it.

Now I have it, thanks to these guys. Still a tad slower than their CD version, but I'm not complaining. Thank you guys so much for working on this.

» the best

How great is this, I can now play my neo geo collection on the go. Magicain Lord, Fatal Fury, KoF, Baseball AllStars, and Sam Showdown. Its a dream come true. Kudos to the devs who worked on this.

Was able to run Sengoku 3 and Shock Troopers 2, some of my fave Neo Geo games; speed is acceptable but no sound.
