Ó

Circus NES game - Image 1It's not like we don't have NES emulators for the PSP. PSP users have had the feature-packed Snes9xTYL and NesterJ emulators for quite some time but that doesn't mean another NES emulator isn't welcome - after all, there hasn't been a new NES emulator in quite some time.

Today, Tinnus has released a proof of concept NES emulator for PSP, a module from his Little John package of emulators for PalmOS. The NES emulator features:
  • Full speed (@333Mhz and v-sync ON)
  • Full screen
  • Full sound at 44 KHz
  • Full controls (D-Pad, X = A, O = B)
  • Biggest mapper and overall compatibility ever (I'm yet to find a game that doesn't work)
The biggest thing that this emulator doesn't feature is any type of configuration. This could decrease compatibility with certain ROMs, but remember this is a proof of concept, not the final version of the emulator.

Well, why release a POC so early on? Well, remember the Little John package for PalmOS we mentioned earlier? Currently it emulates the NES, SNES, Gameboy/Gameboy Color, Sega Genesis/Megadrive, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Bandai Wonderswan/Wonderswan Color, and the NeoGeo Pocket/NeoGeo Pocket Color for PalmOS - now Tinnus is planning on porting this to the PSP.

That's right, in the future you should be able to play games from all of the listed consoles using just one emulator from the Little John project. We're quite excited about this and we'll be looking out for more releases from Tinnus. Stay tuned.

Cool... Can't wait, great job!

nice

what we need is an emulator that can play ad-hoc against other psp's and computers too. Nobody has made that yet, except for the Snes9xTYL, but thats only 2 players :o. Why can't someone make one that supports 5?

ANYONE

knows the name of that game shown at the pic in the article..plz
by - 2007-01-29 16:57:36
well the snes

only supports 2 controllers, but it would be nice if this snes emu could support the heavier (literally) snes games that require more power from the snes like star fox and that kirby game which was alirght on tyl but still a wee bit slugish at times. in fact one written from the bottom up for the psp like that gba emu exophase made would be freakin sweet rather than all those ports. prolly save alot of battery life too not having to overclock just to get more speed out of it.

RE: well the snes

I agree with PotFarmer. I'd rather have seperate emulators that are each built from the ground up and support full speed in most if not all of the game available at full speed and sound. Mega Man X2 an X3 seem to currently be bogging down on me on SNES9x TYL, however the exophase gpSP is perfect on Mega Man Zero 1-4....

cant wait

so it loads it all in one emulator? I CANT WAIT!

Very nice!

Very nice emulator, works like a charm. An all-in-one emulator is more than welcome -- thanks Tinnus!

yes...

Ok I rlly appreciate the deving of a NES emu. I rlly do and if u r doin it for fun better. But communitywise there are still some emus that ppl have been askin for quite some time and they r still buggy and/or not playable. For example is the Neo Geo Pocket Color... I have this console and it have some awesome games like the snk vs capcom. But still its very slow. I think that maybe a dedicated emulator will increase its steadiness and compatibility better than a Swissarmy emu.

Nice

I played LJZ on a friend's Zodiac, it was amazing. Can't wait to have it on my PSP :)

It's not working!

It says "I regret to Inform you that your PSP has crashed" followed by a wierd error code! No, my PSP is NOT bricked but I need to know how to get the NES emulator to work!
by - 2007-01-29 19:51:14
hmm im surprised

I'm surprised no one has done this yet YEAAAAH, WHHHHHAT WHAAAT YEAAAAAH OKAY!
by - 2007-01-29 20:15:03
what game would you play

what nes, snes,gb,gbc, etc games support 5 players. None that I'm aware of.

Wrong PotFarmer

er, well just on one part. The SNES had a multitap. Games like Bomberman series, and Tiny Toons Whacky Sports had 1-4 players.
by - 2007-01-29 21:39:53
Well..

The ONE problem I can say about an all-in-one emulator is that the saves won`t work, thus I`ll have to start every game all over again. Unless he makes it so that it loads the same type of saves..?
by - 2007-01-29 23:36:02
mmmmmmmm

it would be cool if this could be incorporated into the firmware somehow, like a prx or something so you can run roms from the xmb
by - 2007-01-30 00:23:36
e[mulator]

E[mulator] seems to do just fine.
by - 2007-01-30 07:18:13
?

Dgen (genesis), Snes9x (SNES), NesterJ (NES), and even the a sega master system emulator has ad-hoc 2 player.
by - 2007-01-30 12:57:34
=)

Nice me LIKE
by - 2007-01-30 15:16:33
