Handy PSP v0.95.1: Atari Lynx emulator for PlayStation Portable |
Ó
Homebrew developer Akop Karapetyan (uberjack) has released Handy PSP v0.95.1, an Atari Lynx emulator for the PSP. This is his first attempt at porting Keith Wilkins' Handy Emulator, and it seems like he made a pretty good conversion.
Karapetyan pointed out though that the sound emulation still isn't perfect and that he still isn't sure what's causing this. Programmers who want to try their hand at fixing it should know that this application was coded in C and C++ while using the Graphical Utility toolkit for rendering. To compile the program, users will need zlib and libpng.
If you plan on downloading this Atari Lynx emulator for the PSP, be sure to go over the documentation included with the zipped file to avoid any problems with the PSP homebrew.

First!
I've followed the directions on how to install this program...I extracted the zip folder into my PSP Slim's "GAME" folder; I found lynxboot.img and put that in the folder with the EBOOT; I added some ROMs; but I just can't get this program to work. Can anyone give me a hand?
The lynx was way ahead of its time! Seriously, the graphics were almost as good as that of the GBA, which came out about 12 years later! Heck, if I'm not mistaken, this was the only handheld that surpassed its equivalent console. As in, the lynx was stronger than the current atari console out. No other system has done that (and the PSP is the closest attempt since; though admittedly the nomad and genesis would technically tie, but genesis was out way before the nomad). kthxbai
I couldnt get it to run under the 1.50, i merged it and made it 1.0. But there are graphic isses with the color. Thinks look like some of the colors are inverted. But I do like the menu setup over that of PLynx 0.9.
Just email the programmer, with the 1.0eboot I made, hope to see a fix soon.
Why not work on something that really needs help like the Vectrex..? or Odyssey or get really ambitious and make a snes emulator that can run FX and DSP games at full speed :P Just kidding.. any emulator work for the PSP is appreciated.
