Sony + Ninty = wuvTakka's been twisting a few more nuts and bolts around his little mod to Exophase's gpSP. kai v2.5 corrects a few more bugs reported in the previous version/s, and also comes in 1.0., 1.5, and eloader. Here are the bug tweaks and new changes from the Readme:
  • Addition of simple/BUGGY cheat function (not perfected, though)
  • Bug correction of VRAM write (thanks Mr.130)
  • Bug correction of SRAM size automatic operation judgment
  • Trouble correction of "Kirby Star Kagami no Daimeikyuu" (thanks Mr.5/Mr.104)
  • replacement Right channel & Left channel (thanks Mr.96)
  • Trouble correction of "Medarot Navi" (thanks Mr.5/Mr.104)
  • for eLoader
    • Division loading of over 8MB ROM
      • over 8MB ROM doesn't ZIP compression
    • Clock Speed 300MHz/Bus Speed 150MHz
For those of you new to this scene, the original gpSP was a blue-sky project that quickly became a gold standard for PSP emulation because of its ability to emulate some popular GBA games at full speed, a feature that hadn't been pulled off until then (although it did come at the price of compatibility with other games...). Later improvements sought to expand the list of compatible games, as well as add/improve the other features of the emulator.

» 300MHz in 2.71SE-C

First of all - great emulator!!

I'm sure my question is not specific to gpSP, but does anyone know of a way to get gpSP running at 300Mhz in firmware 2.71SE-C?

I'm playing Final Fantasy IV, and I'm hoping the speed increase will sort some of the audio glitches when "mode 7" is used (don't know what it's really called, but it was called that on the SNES), for example the intro, and when in an airship.

Cheers

» hey FIRST i figured out how to be second!

thats puts you in third or whatever place! ^_^

» Legend Of Zelda

Minish Cap does not work so well with this emulator, Blue screens of death when you reach the boss of "Droplets cavern" and right after that a serious blue screen that wont let me continue, when I get to the top of the mountain, I cant walk by because there is a small animation. I got 2.71SE-C, maybe will download this in a momento, I hope that this version has a sort of correction for this.

by kcao - 2006-12-06 02:06
» to nightshade

don't bother trying the zelda thing I'm stuck at the exact same place, and I'm totally screwed cause the regular save won't work, so there's no way I can export it to VBA or whatever...I'm so disappointed, maybe I'll just start it all over from the beginning on VBA...

Aside from that, anyone's got an official gpsp forum address where we can point these errors to the author??

» Fix

If its with the octo boss just use your firelamp for one second then turn it off again. It takes a few times but you can get by it, save states every so often too.

Yea, I got stuck there too (The top of the mountain). I'll download this version and see if the glitch continues to happen. I hope not, I really wanna finish this game. But the bug is most likely still not fixed.

by delta191 - 2006-12-06 18:58
» no mega improvements

All the roms that wouldn't work before, still dont seem to run! still lots of compatability problems.

examples:

space invaders freezes at intro

star wars jedi battles (blue screen of death)

Kao the kangeroo (blue screen of death)

atari anniversary advance (no sound)

millionaire second edition (no sound)

doom 2 locks up.

theirs loads more problems, needs more compatibility next.

a good emulator none the less! ;O)
