gpSP 0.8 kai 2.4 *UPDATE* |
Ó
After releasing his gpSP 0.8 kai 2.3 yesterday, Takka is back once again to bring us a better and bumped up version of his GBA Emulator for PSP.As you guys will probably remember, the gpSP concept was Exophase's brainchild. What we have right now is Takka's unofficial version of the said GBA emulator. It may not be his original idea, but heck we gotta give him snaps for not giving up on this nifty work.
For gpSP neophytes, we really don't know how to explain this further because the phrase "GBA Emulator for PSP" says it all. You ARE familiar with the GBA, right? Yes? Good. So we'll move on and tackle what's in store for us in v2.4. For this version, Takka has added a video mode and - as the migraine-inducing Engrish translation says - "Without the filter mode of mode and 1.75 times (the top and bottom 4 dot added is cut off)." Riiiight...
If you need more info on what has changed, you can check out the readme file anyway, so no need to stress over that. Just download v2.4 via the link below and you're all set. Enjoy!

UPDATE: We didn't mean to imply that Exophase has quit working on gpSP. If we gave off that impression, we're very sorry. Exophase is still working on this GBA emulator. As he said on the comments, "I haven't quit development and these releases are done completely independently of me." So there you have it...we can still expect updates from Exophase and these "kai" releases are being developed by Takka independently of Exophase.

hey dude please keep up the good work with this emu
2.5 tomorrow? Shouldn't he really wait until there's a huge big update rather than all these daily individual ones?
why?
Does Kingdom Hearts COM play well?
contraversy: You're not REQUIRED to download and use all the updates for any homebrew. You can download updates every month or so to enjoy huge list of changes since your last update if you think it's better that way. For me, I'd like to see updates as often as possible so that I can download and use them when they have features I want.
Changelog should always be included in the news post in my opinion. It's lazy to say ''If you wanna know, check the read me''. We could just say, there's a new version of the emu available somewhere on the net, if you're interested, go find it... Plus, you are wasting bandwidth in case people go download it just for the changelog and then decide not to update.
Oh look! Changelog! Wasn't so hard. -gpSP kai 2.4 Add video mode. unscaled 3:2 (existing mode) scaled 3:2(LINEAR) (existing mode) fullscreen 16:9(LINEAR) (existing mode) scaled 3:2(NEAREST) (no filter mode) fullscreen 16:9(NEAREST) (no filter mode) scaled 1.75(NEAREST) (scale 1.75 mode but top/buttom cut 4dot)
plz help me someone i dont no how to set it up because i got the rom and i try to load the game up but some writing appears and the then goes to xmb

This article makes it sound like Exophase quit working on this... "As you guys will probably remember, the gpSP concept was Exophase's brainchild. What we have right now is Takka's unofficial version of the said GBA emulator to continue the great work that Exophase started. It may not be his original idea, but heck we gotta give him snaps for not giving up on this nifty work"
MY BALLS STINK!!!!!!1111 Shift+1 LOLLLOLOOOOOOLLLLL
wow, the new screen resizes are awsome. Full screen normally looks like crap, but this one makes it look great.
y dosent Grand theft auto work it says bad jump help
I've tried gPSP, PSPVBA, snes 9x TYL, and Dgen. So far the only one that works well enough to play the games that I want to play is Dgen. Can someone please tell me why my psp is struggling with gameboy advance, genesis, and snes games? I mean I'm not an expert but isn't the psp supposed to be a bit more powerful? Someone please enlighten me.
Sabrewulf. Please make this game work in your next update. Thank You
I agree with kpaul_nyc. A lot of people are asking me if I quit now or if I handed off to development to Takka. I haven't quit development and these releases are done completely independently of me. And you guys asking for him to fix games are probably wasting your time.
Yes, the personwho wrote this thought it wasn't necessary to write the changelog in the news post.... if there wasn't any change, then there wouldn't be any post... so put the changelog in there so ppl don't have to download it to see whats changed. Whas his name Jex H. ..... QJ, get a rule sheet for posting about updates, so theres always a changelog added to the news, even if its not understandable.
i have a psp f/w 2.60...., i would love to play gpsp...., but previous posting from other forums says i cant .so please , if there is a tech deity amongst you ( the community ) ,tell me otherwise...
well if you are on 2.6 i would imagine you gots a ta-082 (If you arent sure you can find out just use google or search qj for how to its easy trust me) or else you would have downgraded quite some time ago. What you can do is upgrade to 2.71 (dont use network update that will take you to 2.82!!) Just use QJ's 2.71 eboot and follow the directions to install. Then you can use Dark_alex's homebrew enabler C to emulate the 1.5 firmware, letting you play gpsp! Just follow the directions and remember if you are confused Google is your friend!
you must be really downing that coffie. im gonna download this and update just cause it take like 2 seconds. i like your enthusiasm but am finding hard to keep track of what version i have all the time. not bashing at all actually i am thanking you for all your time. i currently cant use this cause my analog is broke and keeps gerking while i try to play. if you can can u post a emulator that only uses the d'pad for the menu. if not dont worry about it i have to fix my analog at some point anyways and this is just a constant reminder i have to get it done. wish the 64 emulator progress was this fast then we might see some real work. not that strmm nrmm aint workign his ass off but still. thanks for all the hard work for all us ungrateful moochers
it is not a power problem this is all homebrew witch means people r making these in there spare time. and not everything is gonna be perfect at start thats why we have updates. Its wierd that dgen is the only one that works cause thats the one ive had the most problems with. pspvba is outdated though i do like the setup alot more it is still a work in progress that was never finished. dont know why it aint working for you. but if u think everything should run perfect than your not only a hypocrit your also got really high expectations. homebrewll probly never be perfect
well the psp is actually like 10-20 times more powerful than those systems isnt tech great! however even that being the case emulating another system takes a significant amount of power. Same reason why if you wanna emulate a ps2 you need like the greatest computer out there currently and it will still be crappy. The only hope for the psp emulators are efficiency which can be attained through a dynarec. Also coding an app from the ground up can also dramatically increase the speed of an emulator. I'm pritty sure that PSPVBA, SNEs 9x TYL are computer apps that have been ported to the psp, and maybe Dgen too (not so sure about this one). Porting apps is terrible for efficiency, so while they may run, they need alot more power to run at full speed. The reason why gPSP owns PSPVBA in speed is that gPSP was coded from the ground up specifically for the psp. I know for a fact if a SNES emulator was coded from the ground up for the psp, it would run even the most power demanding games (starfox, kirby, the bigger roms) would run at full speed. So that there is why your psp is struggling because of inefficient apps. I dont really see why gPSP is givin you trouble though cause from what ive seen every game ive tried has worked flawlessly.
@PotFarmer Try Fire emblem. Slow. Terrible sound. Unplayable. Golden Sun too. But thank you for clearing things up a bit. @postal sean A hypocrite means someone who says to do one thing, and then does the opposite. So the only way for me to be a hypocrite in this case would be if I told a homebrew program to "run perfectly" and then I myself did not "run perfectly." Seeing as I am not a program and do not "run" as a program does, the word hypocrite cannot apply here. Learn what words mean before you use them, especially when you are going to accuse someone else of being that word.
well ive never really been into those rpg games but i did play golden sun for a while and it worked ifne for me but i think i got like a modded rom it changed the saving style from 32 kb savin to 16 or something like that (it was a long time ago). try google!
fire emblem works at full speed for me in most areas. the game itself writes to SRAM every turn and change so to remove the periodic mem-stick writing just set the save changed sram to on exit only.
Keep the updates comming!!! Love to know it's still be worked on - if you don't like the update, don't download it...DUH!
the only think that sucks about daily updates is that i have to redo my custom icon and background everyday
To the developers - Great Emu!!! Still compatibility issues with several games, is this something that can be addressed in future updates?
THIS IS THE *****ING BOMB!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. though the only problem is that you cannot save your settings for display and button config, how do i get around that?
Can you play Final Fantasy Tactics for this because I am trying and it will not work
got it to work, this thing is perfect
How long I must wait for I can play Tomb Raider - The Prophecy.
I just wanted to take a minute and express my gratitude for the development and every single update that you have made for this piece of psp homebrew that will forever have a stamp of legacy in the homebrew scene. I have enjoyed endless hours with this emulator and without it I would be quite bored, :p Thanks again!
I am not sure why there must be alway's some bonehead, posting nonsense in the first row... Poore Guy, nothing else to do :) Let me also thank for this piece of Software and Dude, keep up spending your free time for feeding us with new features :) Thx
i know this site is not a rom downloading site but if anyone knows a good site to get GBA games please give me a heads up it will be appreciated.
Hey thanks Takka for this release! All the games runs much better with your improvements and fixes. You are the man and I wanted to take time out to thank you. If you have a paypal donation address, then let me know so that I can donate! Thanks again, you are my hero!

I currently have gpSP 0.8 by Exophase but I really only wanted it for Golden Sun games and they seemed to work alright until I got out into the open world (Past the first town and when it lets you free roam) and now it freezes all the time...I was wondering if this current update fixes any of those bugs. Thanks
