gpSP GBA emulatorTakka seems to be on a mission of getting the most out of Exophase's gpSP. Now in the latest update, he has ported gpSP 0.8 kai 2.4 to firmware 2.80! You will be able to run it using Noobz' latest eLoader - 0.995. Here's a rough translation of his release info:

When it sets to 333MHz with user mode, when it is dropped into 222MHz mandatorily, because it is thing, in one for 2.80 it tried trying to operate with 300MHz.

The release log states that this version will run at 300MHz, good enough to run GBA games. Apart from that, everything is unchanged from the original gpSP 0.8 kai 2.4. Please make sure that you have the latest eLoader (0.995) to run homebrew on your 2.80 PSP.

"that problem have I

When I select game Zelda: Minish Cap psp just turns off

But Metroid Zero Mission + Fusion working

Whats wrong?"

it's usually the files that cause the thing crash .

Zip files sometimes comes with a ton garbage like :

torrent tracker links

htmls

jpgs of boxart

and nfo files

JUST USE THE .GBA FILE IN A ZIP FOLDER AND PLACE IN BY ITSELF. PRACTICALLY EVERY ROM THAT GET NOW HAS AT LEAST 2 OUT OF 3 THE THINGS ABOVE.,SO CHECK THEM OUT.

REMEMBER TO HAVE A GOOD BIOS IT TOOK TWO TO THREE FILES TO GET A GOOD ONE.

this worked 100 percent so far with bad files. i Had one bad rom so far but it didn't cause it to crash (just a black screen) and the option menu showed it was loaded.

BTW, THE EMULATOR ROCKS. THE SPEED WAS ALREADY INCREDIBLE I WISHED THAT GUI WAS A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE SNESTYL FORM,,NO BIGGIE.

P.S. to the @sshole that posted:

"OH HE MUST OF FORGOT.. we wanted to load bigger games! Like pokemon!"

Leave your noob comments to yourself all your doing is discouraging people who make the homebrew apps and emu s or people from using them which goes back to the fist.

I only fault him for not having stated certain things in the faq (i'm under assumption most people read them anyway by the posting on most the boards)but he built and emulator that 's faster than alot pc gba emulators.

» bigger rom support

For those that are complaining that the maker of this emu should have added larger rom size support, please remember that Exophase created GPSP, these kai releases are from someone (granted with some talent) that is only making minor changes to the emu. If you want larger rom support, then wait for the next EXOPHASE gpsp release (hopefully there will be one.) You da man Exophase!

by Exophase - 2006-11-19 18:52
» *deep sigh*

The MHz capping and the ROM size limitations are both deficiencies in eLoader, not gpSP. However, I will add to the next (official) version the ability to select clock speed and to lower the size of the ROM buffer to allow for playing 16MB ROMs when they can't fit entirely in memory.

Maybe this will stop the sudden neverending stream of people who upgraded to 2.8 and are complaining about the emulator not working.

» GBA BIOS

ZELDA MINISH CAP WORKS 100% WITH THIS RELEASE FINALLY. ALL YUGIOH GAMES AS WELL. EVERY GAME I'VE TRIED NOW WORKS. MAKE SURE YOU GET AN AUTHENTIC BIOS WITH A VALID CHECKSUM. A LOT OF GAMES WON'T RUN WITH ANY GBA BIOS THAT ARE NOT 100% IDENTICAL.

BELOW IS THE **REAL AUTHENTIC** BIOS!!!!!!!!! MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE U GET IT!!!!!!! FASTER SPEED AND MORE COMPATIBILITY!! !!!!!!

» ok for starter-2.8.....but need a better release....

This is acceptable release for the new hombrew familiy 2.8. This is lame for most non 2.8+ users. You cant play games that are higher than 9mb.

Hope there's a new emulator release for 2.8 soon.

by cloud - 2006-11-21 06:48
» heres what to do!!!

i got the the gpsp and it lets you play games that are over 9mb.i was playing pokemon that is 16mb!!!

If there are any noobs out there that need help...then your lucky you found me!!!

THIS PROGRAM IS NOT 100% SAFE AS A BLUE ERROR MESSAGE CAME UP ON MY PSP ONCE BUT LUCKILY IT DIDENT GET BRICKED SO USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

1. download the eloader and install it on your psp.

2. download the gpsp and copy the 2 files gpsp and gpsp% into psp/games.

3. download an gba_bios file! u can get an gba_bios file from: http://darkfader.net/gba/files/GBA.ROM.zip . (the file is only 16kb).

4. place the gba_bios file into psp/games/gpsp.

5.download a gba rom from somewhere and place it in psp/games/gpsp.

6.turn your psp on and go to photo, go to the eloder 0995, then select gpsp and select the game you want to play by preesing the start button.

7.ENJOY THE GAME!!!

NOTE:not all gba roms work on the gpsp.

Hmm i played the Zelda Minish Cap for a while and now i'm in the Temple of Droplets. In the middle of the boss fight i get a blue screen. Is there any other emulator (for windows) that can load the save state so i can get past this?

Tnx in advance.

» HMMM

I was wondering just how bad this emulator is. I have heard from my friends that this is basically the crappiest thing in the world. They recommended Snes9xTYL, to be used instead, cause basically it had the same games, except, it's GUI is better, and it has a little catchy background tune. So I just wanted your opinion, on all of the flashy features of GpSp, not that I really care about Exophase...
