Ó
News fresh from our forums: developer Exophase has released an update to to the Gameboy Advance emulator for the PSP, gpSP 0.6. Version 0.6, by the way, was released on August 25, so if this is the first time you're going to try this emulator out, feel good, it updates fast. Exophase is hoping that most of the games that used to work with his previous update will still do with this one. He also warns users to not think of this emulator as anything more than a beta.
Here are some of the more notable things that came along with the readme:
Bug FIX:
- Fixed a dynarec bug involving flags generating functions in contiguous conditional blocks. Fixes music in Super Mario Advance 2-4.
- Fixed a dynarec bug where Thumb mov imm instructions wouldn't set flags. Fixes Zelda: Minish Cap, Megaman Battle Network, probably others. Comes at a slight speed cost.
- Fixed a MIPS dynarec bug where some delay slots might not get filled rarely, causing chaos. Don't know if it improves any games.
- Improved self-modifying code detection. Makes Golden Sun, Golden Sun 2, and Madden 2007 sorta work but excruciatingly slowly. Looking for a game-specific workaround for this - if you want to play these games you'll have to wait for now :(
- Fixed a bug causing the interrupt disable flag to go down when SWIs are entered, causing crashes/resets. Fixes Super Mario Advance 2-4.
- Fixed menu crashing when strings with certain characters are printed (for instance going to the menu after loading the BIOS)
- Accidentally forgot to render win0 + win1 + objwin when all active at the same time, many weeks ago. Added that, should fix some parts in games that had frozen screens.
- Fixed some issues with gpsp.cfg needing to be present and corrupting, hopefully. At the very least sanity checks are performed on the config file.
- Made it so assigning the frameskip button to something besides triangle actually worked as expected.
- Fixed ability to restart current game if nothing is loaded (ie, crash)
- Added interrupt on cpsr modification support to the dynarec (fixes backgrounds in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance)
- Added open addressing for ldm/stm instructions (fixes Super Mario Advance 3)
- Improved cycle accuracy a little. Don't know of anything this fixes, but games with idle loops will run a little better w/o idle loop elimination (but should still be added when possible)
- Fixed some bugs causing sound to play sometimes when it shouldn't.
- Added dead flag elimination for Thumb code. May possibly have noticeable performance increases (Thumb emited coded size can have a reduction of 20% or more)
- Added code generation for divide SWI. May have a small speed increase in some games.
- Added analog nub support (special thanks to psp298 for the code)
- Added fractional frameskip. Go below 0 to get them. A frameskip of 1/2 for instance means render 2 out of every 3 frames, 2/3 means render 3 out of every 4 frames, etc. Possibly useful for games that are not quite fast enough at fs0 but fullspeed at fs1...

i'm not english, and in the game_config.txt there are only fixes for us versions.
Sometimes exophase found an idle loop for the european version, in which case he said to try this special euro idle loop instead of the us, but it doesnt work, at least with pokemons.
And the way to find yourself the idle loops is a little complicated, and to be honest, i didnt understand anything to the method :) !

Advance Wars not only works, but runs at FULLSPEED now!
Final Fantasy Tactics now FULLSPEED at 1 frameskip with PERFECT SOUND.
Golden Sun now works and doesnt crash and yes, it is fullspeed.
The NEW Lego Star Wars II game which is actually protected with a new type of security, runs flawlessly at 100% fullspeed with just 1 frameskip. *Awesome.*
Lord of the Rings 2 towers and RoTK both games are playing at fullspeed w/perfect sound and music. (portable Diablo woot.)
And, last but not least Tactics Ogre now works fullspeed with sound at 0 frameskip. (My favorite game!)
I never ever thought I would say this but, because of this emu, I officially replaced my spankin new DS Lite with my psp as my handheld of choice to travel with.
Thank You creator of this program. You are the best.

With Devhook, it's just like having dual firmwares. I am experiencing 98% compatibility on all the roms I have tried so far. Only 2 measly roms are not working for me. All the MAJOR games(AW, Metroid,Pokemon ,Mario, etc.) work without flaw and usually at fullspeed. Im almost certain it's because of my 1.5 firmware. I run gbsp through IRSHELL and ramp the cpu to 333mhz. Most games run fullspeed at 222 though.

I am really impressed by the speed and the sound (finally can play metroid games, fullspeed, nice sound, without crashing) and the compatiblity (even still early) is still great !
Keep up the good work !

Your telling me it would be easier to down load the emu, install it, hunt and find the bios install it, hunt and find the rom i want, install it.....just to see if it works?
Are you retarded or what? Why would i do all that when i can ask someone on here that has it all ready and can just answer my question......
Can we find something more petty to ***** about? go away.....

"load the emu, install it, hunt and find the bios install it, hunt and find the rom i want"
in under 10 minutes. It's been how many hours since you asked, and got no reply?
So yes it would be easier to check yourself!
Talk about retarted!

So what was such a big deal with that, thaty you had to whine??
NOTHING your just one of those lame ppl that has nothing better to do.....
Reply
Lighten up guys this site is for helping people for *****s sake.
If you cant find something better to complain about, please kill yourselves now and save us from having to hear your pointless whining.....
@91 Dont waste your time arguing with them man, douche bags like that are on every board on earth........unfortunately we cant kill them all.....

And think about it. If someone says, yes that games DOES work, then what's he going to do? He's going to go download the emu, bios, and rom anyways. WTF is the point in being too lazy to just do that in the first place?
There was not one complaint about a developer. There's a big difference between an ungrateful prick (and I agree that sometimes it seems that's all you see on here), and someone pointing out lazyness, and obviously hitting a nerve.
dOOBER - stick to fighting battles that make sense to fight, especially when they have nothing to do with you.
Gee . . . suggesting murder and suicide makes you a much better person than someone who points out someone's lazyness. But you're obviously really young, so go at er I guess. One day you'll realize that you're actually part of the problem with the mentality you use to post.
hmm - I know you're young also, so whatever. The point isn't that you shouldn't ask questions, the point is that you shouldn't ask "lazy" questions. And you didn't get an answer in here within an hour.
The funny thing though, is that if you hadn't been too lazy to read the other posts, you would have seen that your question was actually answered before you asked it.
Too lazy to read the previous posts, or take a couple minutes to test for yourself, but not too lazy to come back here and attempt to start a flamefest.
Youth . . .

You know crap man, im 26 and was at work, I just wanted to know if advanced wars worked so i had something to look forward to when i get off....
That is still a completely asinine thing at whine about....Someone asking a question???? That just sounds completely insane........
Reply
It just doesn't make sense to ask questions here, you're more likely to get an answer in the forums. You might as well ask if you'd save money by switching to Geico in here. But you obviously just don't get it, or you would realize that the real asinine insanity is thinking that the average person in here actually wants to help you, and getting so worked up over something so trivial. Relax, and enjoy some advance wars man! (when you're done work :P)

Yeah, I'd do that, too. Except that the PSP ISN'T MINE... it belongs to an elder family member who doesn't trust me with flashing stuff anymore after a run-in with an old Sony Clie.
I've done bios flashes on my PDA-phone successfully, tho, so I'm not partial to trying this stuff out - it's already confirmed safe, and I've already confirmed the board in question isn't a TA-082. But you know how it is - I told the person to get a 1.5, but someone wants it in White, Brand New, there aren't any 1.5 Whites that aren't second hand, and I'm not allowed to do any drastic stuff that has even a 0.1% chance of bricking anything.
Appreciate it if the TIFF 2.6 version turns up.

Now, for my own issues. I have tried playing MMBN2, to great vexation. In v.6, it would load the game just fine, but the sprites were gone. Now, when I try to play it in v.7, upon selecting New Game, it just gives me a blank screen, which is apparently the menu. The location is something like Virus Lab. Not sure.
Next is Medabots. Both Metabee and Rokusho versions get either a "bad jump" or BSoD when I'm on my way to the house for that damnable show he insists on watching.
If anyone can offer suggestions for these issues, I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks. :)

Metroid Zero Mission plays perfectly on FS2 but if you try to run the "Original Metroid" option, it crashes.
Tetris Worlds, Grand Theft Auto crashes
I think it might just be the ROM but as the previous guy said MMBN2 has issues.
Other than that, I've been playing this thing nonstop for the last 3 days =D

I searches just for fun for wallpapers and psp demos and what do i find?
A GENIUS named exophase making nearly some magic by wrtiting a emu for PSP.
That's incredible.. but this caught my attention because i'm really no good at these things and then i find you guys giving that much of helpful advices.
Though i have still to figure it out how i should make i run on my psp i just want to thank all of you and of course Exophase.

But i can't downgrad my psp though. I did not know how difficult it would be to downgrad a psp and i've updatet it to V.2.81. :-(
Concluding from what i have seen so far, there is still no way to downgrad that version, so i guess that i have to be patient before selling my GBA.
Well i wonder what is going to happen first. I guess that there will be a device hock to downgrad 2.81 but i its also possible that exophase is making it run his emu on all psp versions.
So do your Best!
