DGEN

And you thought you'd never get to play those Sega Genesis games like Castlevania: Bloodlines, Earthworm Jim and Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master that you spent countless hours playing as a kid or a teen... or an adult... but that's entirely beside the point, as syn-z's DGEN for the PSP is back for another run of good old retro gaming fun.

Hailed by QJ as one of the best emulators around, you know you just have to download it to find out.

Changelog according to Babelfish:
  • When approximately 20% acceleration
  • [in CONFIG] “BGM Speed Fix” addition (is turned to ON, processing becoming heavy, sound does not become slow.
  • However, there is no effect and/or depending upon the game trouble comes out.
  • In addition, at the time of communication opposition it becomes mandatorily OFF. )
Thanks a bunch to TheShadowRunner for the tip.

by boomer - 2006-08-26 07:02
Install with Firmware 1.50?

Anyone know how to install this on a PSP with firmware 1.50? The readme file gives no information nor do the forum FAQs. I can't figure out how to get this to run.

Thanks,

"And you thought you'd never get to play those Sega Genesis games like Castlevania: Bloodlines, Earthworm Jim and Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master that you spent countless hours playing as a kid or a teen"

Actually I can wiht countless computer emus, not to mention ALL the other dgens, and better yet, pspgenesis. Goodjob anna.

I hope this is better than all the other crappy dgens. Sorry, but dgen is overrtaed. PSPgenesis>dgen.

by Lips - 2006-08-26 07:25

.

"you spent countless hours playing as a kid or a teen... or an adult..." so, when a person was alive? Is that what you're saying, Anna S., you stupid idiot? Dumbass.

by stranno - 2006-08-26 07:57
...

All games i have played works fullspeed with sound (sonic 1 and 3 inclusive)

Thanks, all i can to say

by Qua? - 2006-08-26 08:37
Excuse me?

I may be a little delirious here but, from my recollection since the beginning there's been a damn near perfect Genesis emulator. 'Cause I've been using what seems like a perfect one for a long while now and this doesn't seem like such a big deal, unless its for 2.6 users or whatever. But good job nonetheless.

by smokydoggg - 2006-08-26 08:39

when i try it on 2.5 GTA loader it says 'found suspicious hard path'

by Pipo the Clone - 2006-08-26 08:41
Very Good

@boomer: use KXploit.

@7: PSPgenesis is dead and slow. Dgen is way better. For you it might be better playing PSPgenesis caus it's for slow people who can't win @full speed.

@10: GTFOH.

by metal - 2006-08-26 09:04
when

I really wonder when we will get sega cd and 32x emulaters on the psp and evetually saturn and psone

by SP5889 - 2006-08-26 09:09
20% speed increase?

Yeah... I really don't notice a speed increase from 1.60. Playing Sonic 2 seems the same

by hartleyshc - 2006-08-26 09:11
.

@7 dgen >> pspgenesis. dgen surpassed it a long time ago, on both speed and compatibility.

@15 segacd we will one day have *still not sure we havent yet.* 32x might need a little work to play perfect, especially the 32xcd games. the xbox cant even play those. psone, either by sony or homebrew we will have some form eventually. as for saturn... never. the dual cpus are hard enough to emulate on a powerful pc rig. not to mention there is very little documentation on the saturn hardware.

by lips - 2006-08-26 09:21
2.6 or no?

does this work on 2.6?

by klasd - 2006-08-26 10:17
kxploit

ok, i download kxploit and it is in some foreign language that i have no clue of. So can someone send me one that is in english or something so i can use this on 1.5. Or better yet, just send me the files allready kxploited so i just load it up and play it on 1.5. thanks people

by Nick - 2006-08-26 10:20
@14

You`re an idiot. PSPGenesis was full speed long before DGen was. I still use it, and won`t switch it until a PSPGenesis .19 comes out

by pspmedia - 2006-08-26 10:33
hellow

anyone now how to use this update ?? When i overwrite it in the folder without the % than it's says cant not load. So please if any now how to install this update.thnxx

by klasd - 2006-08-26 10:40
nevermind

im number 19, i figured it out. The only difference that i can tell on sonic is that the sound might be a bit better, and the speed is just barely better, if any.

by ballz - 2006-08-26 11:16
#20

sorry buddy, dgen is way better, in the last one they finally got it to run contra hard corps! everything runs full speed on 1 fs. dont be hard headed. you are only hurting yourself.

by Jaykay - 2006-08-26 11:33
better sound

Yess, keep the updates comin'

by no - 2006-08-26 11:48

"PSPgenesis is dead and slow. Dgen is way better. For you it might be better playing PSPgenesis caus it's for slow people who can't win"

Yea, because sonic 1-3 and vectormen are "hard" games. You must suck at gaming to think the megadrive had hard games.

play sf2 hyper editon, max difficulty and max hyper lvl....

by Combo - 2006-08-26 12:18
???

How the hell can you say that PSP Genesis is faster and better than Dgen 1.70?

I've tried them both, and the results are:

Sonic 1, frameskip 1, 22.050khz.

Streets of Rage, frameskip 1, 22.050khz.

PSP Genesis...very slow!!!

Dgen...fullspeed!!!

So be real, and don't diss Dgen.

by angry man - 2006-08-26 12:23
grrr no full speed?

doe you still need frameskip at 1 to run most games without any slowdown?

or can games run fine with frameskip set at zero?

by no - 2006-08-26 12:32

"How the hell can you say that PSP Genesis is faster and better than Dgen 1.70?"

Can you read? I said I hope dgen is better than other dgens. I was talking about older dgens to pspgenesis.

"play sf2 hyper editon, max difficulty and max hyper lvl...."

I shall.

Lol thats funny i have evreything at frameskip 0 on all my games and they all work fine full speed on pspgenesis! So i dont know what bull***** you got very slow from!

by lips - 2006-08-26 12:57
2.6 compatible?

anyone?

by Illegal Machine - 2006-08-26 13:08
who cares if its 2.6 compatible?

if you have a 2.6 downgrade that *****ker

by 2.6 - 2006-08-26 14:32
:)

# 13 press x and it will either crash or run the game.

to everyone else asking if it works on 2.6 try it and find out.... really it takes more time to post and wait for an answer than it does to try for yourself. use your head....

BTW: i couldn't understand the change log but i'll download anyway. i have 2.6 and don't expect me to post if it works or not. lazy asses

Whst's your version of pspgenesis?

I have tried it on pspgenesis v0.18c.....

by Lips - 2006-08-26 14:52
2.6?

does it work on 2.6

by Skyye - 2006-08-26 15:05
PSPGenesis v.18c? DGEN v1.70?

I prefer PSPGenesis for its simplicity and faster ROM scrolling, but I really like DGEN's on-the-fly screen adjustment and slightly better sound.

The emulators don't take up much room on the memory stick, so I'll just use both.

by dude ham - 2006-08-26 17:44

by pollux - 2006-08-26 20:53
50fps

With frameskip 0, I'm getting between 48 and 52 fps on SOR2, SOR3, Sonic 1, Shinobi 3, and 43 fps with ad-hoc mode, it's certainly faster than before

by metalspector - 2006-08-27 10:18
lol

those are crappy imiations , I have a lkspsp that looks like a psp but it's from a different company , only has 7 games available now but the graphics are better than the psp's ( games have half life 2 kind of graphics ) and has 60 gb of memory ( it plays videos , songs and images ( even animated .gif images )).

by lips - 2006-08-27 12:00
2.6 compatible?

dfgsdfgsbnmgh or no?

by Mahare - 2006-08-29 15:20
WTF?

So it appears that the only download I'm getting is the one for 1.0, however, I do not have a 1.0. Is there a 1.5 download I'm missing somewhere?

by Mahare - 2006-08-29 16:10
Never mind!

Well, it seems I forgot about that spiffy feature called Sei PSP Tool. Works like a charm, and plays Beyond Oasis for me. Exile and Mega Man - The Wily Wars still don't work though.

by 1 - 2006-09-01 13:37

does this work with 1.5?

by 1 - 2006-09-01 15:38

can someone tell me which exploit to DL please i have 1.5FW

by Cyberman - 2006-10-12 21:29
Perfect!

Fantastic work! This emulator realy kick ass!

by Shaggy - 2006-10-23 19:33
Help?

whenever i try to run the emulator it says "found suspicious hard path at 08A313A0 ms0:/psp/GAME/
