DaedalusIt's been a while since we've heard from either StrmnNrmn or Wally, and maybe some of you guys might be thinking that Daedalus is as dead as Elvis(?)... But fear not. If Booster's back in the scene, then why not bolster up the homebrew community with another update?

Wally's dedicated to the Daedalus project just as much as the MIA StrmnNrmn, and now, he's released the Daedalus Spiff Up v1.3 which was originally intended on the R9 release of Daedalus itself.

Here's Wally's update:
  • Ocarina of Time -  I dont plan to start from the start of OOT, Will do the temples which may help with everything. Marketplace and intro are now fixed
  • Road Rash - Still trying to figure out why some of the guys only have wheels for a bike but its fun!
  • Mortal Kombat 4 - Menu text, characters, background i think is related to mirroring. Powers etc fixed.
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Added in-game stuff however doesn't work properly yet.
  • Super Smash Bros - Still working out how to fix this game up good, getting somewhere though
  • S.C.A.R.S. - Added Most in-game stuff still not 100%
  • Sin and Punishment - Works quite well on level 1, never tried level 2, guessing more stuff to implement
  • Quest 64 - Various Fixes (Hasnt been checked yet)
  • San Fransisco Rush - Isn't quite normal but getting there
It might be three full months since R8 came out, but with this Spiff Up, we've still got hope that this project won't die on us. No one would like that, now would they?

It's about time

I was beginning to think that the N64 scene was going to die out. Finally some news on it. This homebrew emulator is taking more time than I would of guessed but I am appreciative that someone is taking the time to try to better it. Thanx for the update.. keep up the struggle to bring N64 to portable.

The n64 was my favorite consol ever made. I still play and buy games for the thing. I am SO happy that daedalus isnt gone... this thing is prolly the main reason i will never upgrade past 2.71...

by - 2006-11-29 18:04:43

by seargent007 - 2006-11-29 18:26:57
hey

hey numbskulls ever realize wally only makes PATCHES!? yea, as in dl R8 and apply this over. and if it doesnt work on 1.5, its your fault you havent seen the light of 2.71 SE-C
by - 2006-11-29 18:31:54
Nice

Ok, I tried it, and I must say it's pretty damn good! Games are still laggy and still no sound, but we're getting there guys! Mario runs very well, but lacks of speed, while zelda lacks of speed big time and sometimes has problems with the text (At one point, it was writing "Teh" instead of the. Lol.)
by - 2006-11-29 18:32:57
How I got it working

When using Dark Alex's custom 2.7 version you can just put the daedalius folder in your Game directory as it also caters for v1.0 boots. (Gotta love Dark Alex). This also gets rid of thsoe annoying corrupted data icons.
by - 2006-11-29 18:33:43
?

does this work on kriek for 2.8
by pollux - 2006-11-29 18:35:03
np

prolly need 2 use kxploit, you can download that program here
by - 2006-11-29 18:43:15
.

You DONT need any previous version at all. SImply download and use KXploit v.0.3, choose the eboot that comes with download, run prog, will install to psp, then take and COPY all the other files that is in download to the folder, NOT the % folder but the other one. Now, with roms, i put super mario 64 .zip in roms folder and nothing worked, so i unziped it and it runs fine.
by - 2006-11-29 18:46:48
prob

prob kause i loaded it in 2.71 that way.
by - 2006-11-29 18:57:32
nice

this is sweet but i wish it ran conker:( thats my favorite game. someone should make a port just for that. anyone up for the challenge?:)
by - 2006-11-29 19:00:31
To make it works...

Use the SeiPSPTool, or some other KXploit program. The pbp in the RAR is not "kxploited".
by - 2006-11-29 19:02:16
Wanna bet?

Yes, they can. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/413868
by - 2006-11-29 19:04:17
.

Yah, works perfectly fine. I think i noticed a way to make it run a bit faster. Run devhook, choose any iso or umd and choose 1.50F, then choose 333mhz. Devhook will boot back into XMB, and since your STILL under 1.50, you can run the emulator, but only in 333mhz. it seems to have givin me about a 5% + speed.
by - 2006-11-29 19:06:28
try it!!

First of all... TRY IT GOD DAMNIT! DONT ASK, JUST TRY IT! Second... Yes.
by - 2006-11-29 19:15:30
.

"» Wanna bet? Yes, they can. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/413868" lmao my god that guy is retarded beyond repair haha
by - 2006-11-29 19:29:49
The 333Mhz thing might be a good idea.

Running the PSP at 333 will reduce battery life. I've stated before, can someone tell me if this is true. When you check your PSP's battery life at 100%, it says 7 hours roughly. If you dim the brightness down to level 1, it goes to 8 hours, and if you turn your sound off, it goes to 8:15 or somewhere around there. But the moment you run your UMD game, the hours drop down to about 3 and a half since it has to spin the UMD. Does running homebrew (Such as a PSX Emulator, N64 emulator, ect) make the hours stay at 7+ since it has no UMD to run? Or since it has to do other things it still drains life more as opposed to watching a video.
by - 2006-11-29 19:39:14
exactly

yeh thx too, btw, thx strmnrmn, u rock, hope this reach 100%!

HOLY *****

by - 2006-11-29 21:06:49
mhz

Naw, emulators like Daedalus usually always run on 333mhz. So booting Devhook doesnt change a bit.
by - 2006-11-29 21:20:34
.

Yah, i re-tested and the framerate was the same. i just got lucky and had a quick speed boost for that ONE time lol thought it was somthing else. lol. But inmario 64, the FASTEST place i found was in the BACK of the castle, where all the boo's are outside. runs over 30 FPS. now if only the rest of the game would lol. I have this idea though, and wanted to run it past you peoples first. On PC, you can actually HACK any emulator to run fast. it doesnt take a genious, just when your frame rate drops, and when it raises, you hack and find out WHAT is making it change, and you HIGHER it. like i said, on pc, this method works fully, and you can make games run hyper speed. i guess if FORCES the emulator itself ot run faster. well, im pondering if this same thing in possible here. i will test it with the gpSP GBA emulator first, and if i get a speed gain, i will move on to other emus. psx emu would then be my next. The only issue with this N64 emu, is i cant get my hack device to pop up while running the emu. unlike all other emus that i can. Either way, if you are interested in helping me out with this, not just THIS emu, but any emu that lags, hit me up on www.OneHitGamer.com , My psp code creation site. i can teach you the basics if your a noob, and if your pro, lets tag team this beotch lol.

I didn't do anything

I didn’t do anything. All I did was copy the missing mux files that strmnnrmn made and added them to the game. Anyone with an IQ of 10 can do the same thing so please stop saying that I did anything because I didn’t do *****. All I know how to do is copy and paste and that is ALL that I did. I am sorry for making it out like I did something when all I did was copy and paste missing mux files that strmnnrmn made. Sorry.
by - 2006-11-29 23:14:51
Um...

2.71 SE-C is still not as perfect as 1.5. Idiot
by - 2006-11-29 23:18:17
Wow.

I stand corrected. Haha!
by - 2006-11-30 02:29:32
.....

"you hack and find out WHAT is making it change, and you HIGHER it" ............... ok
by - 2006-11-30 07:16:05
Quit

Ok first of all, alot ofe people here think strmnnrmns back, hes not, this is a guy called wally, and he made a patch , and there is no speed increase, just bug fixes in some games that didnt work well. As for strmnnrmn, it is my personal belief that he has indeed stoped development on daedalus psp, why? because the same thing happened to daedalus PC back in 2003, infact strmnnrmn's last posts about work and family life getting in the way are almost identical on both sites, you can check them for yourself PC-> http://daedalus.boob.co.uk/ PSP-> http://strmnnrmn.blogspot.com/ look familiar? that was 3 years ago....do the math, its finished.

Anal pep rally

I didn't notice a speed boost at all. But I did notice that the sprites in Mario 64 and ESPECIALLY zelda were GREATLY improved. It's interesting. I didn't think n64 roms were so small (under 32mb)
by - 2006-11-30 09:05:55
What happened?

What happened to ps2nfo.com? Can't get there the last 3 days. Is their server down?
