Ó
Yeah, we hear everyone clamoring for N64 emulator for PSP">Daedalus' R9 release from StrmnNrmn and Wally's recent Spiff Up seemed to fill the unsettling N64 void. Operative word, of course, is "seemed". Because, face it, despite how we all love Wally's "spiffy," one can't help but wonder about Daedalus itself. Is Daedalus daed dead?
Here's to hoping that it isn't. funk_man was able to obtain Daedalus Shifty homebrew developer">Shifty Beta 1 from his friend in school: homebrew programmer Shifty. funk_man attests that the games he's played on it have definitely sped up. It's still not full speed, but he comments that it's faster than StrmnNrmn's Daedalus R8.
Here are some notes from Shifty:
- only roms in .z64 format will run at high speed
- all other rom files have some what slower speeds, but load textures better
- some .z64 files have textures that don't load, like the water in Mario 64
Cheers to Shifty and shout outs to StrmnNrmn! Keep this emu alive!

"Less than what it had before, same speed DOWNLOAD IMMIDIATELY"
i don't know i could really care less if this homebrew makes it to full speed.
BUT A QUALITY RELEASE WOULD ATLEAST BE NEWS WORTHY...

Little releases like this make it here so that you, the player, gets FREE emulation on your tiny wittle psp. be it a perfect emulator, or a WAY early beta, doesnt matter. how many "betas" do we play, and still enjoy? as SOME games run decent enough to have fun.
Trust me, you CAN run full windows 95 on your psp...the N64 emulator WILL be complete one day. untill then, keep my ass up to date and entertained by a tweaked emu.
The rest of you who disagree.....shut your dam/n mouth and go play your DS. (which btw, CANNOT emulate the N64 like the PSP can! lol hahahahah hardy har har har hack! cough! her!)

This pure craptastic emulator runs slower than STRMN NRMN's grandma! This is so "Your base are belong to us"! Flame me *****es, cause I know that if this coders really worked hard they would have done this already like PSDONKEY! Did you all know I know psmonkey in real life? He studies at MIT and he has full scholarship till his master degree! He left because he said he hated the homebrew scene since many din't know ***** about homebrew and entered and that he hated coding noobs that din't compare to him! And even though his emulator took him a few months (around 6) he has it working at around 95-98% full speed with sound *****es!

Uh, no QJ. You`re wrong. StrmnNrmn doesn`t have to do *****. What he codes on his spare time and releases to us is up to him, we just wait for it. Don`t be ungrateful!

Also, Hi tenshu.
to FLAME_ME_*****! ,
You confused the names there. You listed me as going to MIT (guess you ment Donkey). I never went to MIT or university (i'm a self taught coder).
I made amens with Donkey but I still have yet to see anything creditable regarding his emu. I do hope that he will in the future maybe release the source or a simple beta (even locked to a hb game) to show off his work. If not its a total waste.

You know... Just saying... =X
((Oh, and I won't be popping back in here, so flaming is useless... Sorry.))
Anyways, here's to hoping that Jet Force Gemini works! ^^
And Strmn, thanks for all of your hard work!!
... *I* appreciate it... >.

I have worked basically every minute I got in order to think of an idea, that half of u ppl wouldn't understant
d. It is in the middle fo the school year, I am still in high school, and don't have access to a computer everywhere i go, especially one where it can be compiled for testing
Now, a little info, for all of you ppl who think that all I did was rip Wally and StrmnNrmn.
1) It has not been completed enough to actually be judged. This was just a quick build, to test whether or not it could actually be used with one of my new ideas.
2)My new idea was to not play around with the framerate of the actual emulator, but only with the actual roms.
3)My intended way of doing so, was to create a nice small, compact function, that would be called to load the entire rom into memory, dynamically edit the rom upon loading to basically say, 'go faster', run this through the entire rom, unload the rom, except for the part that was changed, then resume with the actual emulation. This function is only to be called once, after you choose which rom to load. In the end, this would not save and modifications made to the actual rom upon loading.
4) I am sorry that I had failed to explain this to funkman.
5) Now just to let you know, I have changed a rom(SuperMario6 4) in a rom modifier, and booted it up on good ol' Daedalus Wally to test it. It worked, it had a smoother, faster moving feel to the game, running at what looks to be "almost full speed", ALTHOUGH THE ACTUAL FRAMERATE MY NOT CHANGE
Now you may be thinking that this is similar to frameskip, but in fact it isn't. It is somewhat hard to understand the logic of how the human eye may see somthing one way, then they see it another way.
6)All I have done with the unoffical release that was given to funkman, was insert a function in the file 'daedalus\Source \Interface\RomD B
that is called upon loading a rom
7)Once again, I am sorry. This was just a one day thing so far, so when I get my dynamic rom speed modifier working for daedalus, you can probably expect to see what funkman had originally said, that I will get it to run at full speed.
If I have time I might work on some sort of interface so ppl can play around with a few of the settings.
Currently i am working on the rom modifyer, so expect some major speed increase within the next month or so. Until then

I apologize to Shifty_ for giving out false information. And I would like to thank all of you who tried different games and actually used different file extensions to see which games you could get to run faster.
Shifty_, i bet most of us are looking forward to your next release

This has nothing to do with daedalus and purely doing with someone making wild claims to take credit from strmnnrmn who has done a huge amount of work on this emu.

PSPU staff, if you're reading this, I really hope you take down this imposter's download.
