Daedalus R6 Released |

UPDATE: One of our avid readers, Morgan, gave us a heads up on what StrmnNrmn has been doing. This time around, the developer has made some relevant improvements on the dynarec (dynamic recompiler). The amount of memory this is using has been decreased by approximately 10 to 12%, and the emulator's speed has been increased by around 7 to 10%. A bug that has been causing stability problems on PSPs using 1.0FW has also been fixed.
After the oh-so-many updates we have given you about speed improvement, graphical fixes, and its release date, finally the much-awaited build R6 for the Daedalus N64 Emulator for the PSP is released for your own downloading pleasure. StrmnNrmn has fulfilled his promise of releasing it today which was reported in our previous article about the emulator's progress.
If Daedalus seems like a foreign language to you, then you're in luck because we're here to hook you up with some info. Daedalus is a Nintendo64 emulator for Windows and PSP. Daedalus is named after the craftsman at King Minos' court who designed the labyrinth for the Minotaur. The good developer mentioned in the readme text that "this release of Daedalus for the PSP is currently in the very early stages of development. It is intended to show the potential for a N64 emulator on the PSP, but the current release has many missing features that make it far from usable. But Strmnnrmn believes that the following problems would be fixed in the coming versions:
- There is limited savegame support.
- There is no audio support.
- Not all the N64 controls can be used simultaneously.
- Many roms won't boot.
- Many roms have serious graphical glitches.
- Many roms have random lockups and crashes.
- Most roms run at a low framerate.
Changelog:
- Added over 50 new combiner modes
- Added support for c-buttons
- Load roms from ms0:N64 in addition to local roms directory
- Fixed backface culling issues
- Correctly implemented flipping to avoid flickering with certain roms
- Plugged memory leak in texture handling code, fixing various crashes
- Fixed issue which caused screenshot function to hang the emulator
Now StrmnNrmn is on a little bit of a bind since he has not yet decided on what to concentrate for R7 - will he be focusing on speed issues, compatibility problems, graphic fixes, or usability. He just released R6 and he is now thinking of R7. Wow, this guy's really amazing! So aside from telling us about R6, maybe you can give out your suggestions on what the good developer should give his attention to for R7. Tell us through your comments. For more info on the app, don't hesitate to read the readme.txt that comes with the downloads.

YESSSSS FINALLY !!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALL DAY !!!!
great to see strmnnrmn, love your releases.
The games that "will" play look excellent now!... Very minor graphical issues to report. Don't expect a speed increase for this release though (obviously, as it wasn't mentioned in the changelog), but seriously, looks nice.
Hopefully some day we can get some speed on this and make it... err.. playable.
How's the performance?
whateve happned to the full speed 64 emu?
awsome great work
MARIO KART 64 WORKS!!!!!!!!! YAHOO!!!! oh yeah and by the way ive been using this thing for 1n hour and a half
Playing Mario 64 on the new release:
About:
~14 FPS in Peach Intro
~7-8 FPS around the castle
~8.5 FPS in the castle
~13-14 FPS in small room (such as bob-omb battlefield room)
~34 FPS on the Menu screen (not that that matters)
~6-6.5 in the bob-omb battlefield level.
is this any good in speed?
Yeah what happened to that? At first they said it was going to be released pretty soon and that it was full speed. Only 3 roms but full speed.
What happened? And yeah, this one is going pretty much the same speed, but hey, he's working on it :)
Yes!!! Its Here!!! But I dont see any significant improvement from the last release.
As many people said before, graphical issues can be dealth with later, speed it up first.
same speed yust grafical isues taht sucks
:( or :) ???
SPEED SPEED SPEED....then worry about the other stuff... :)
strmnnrmn,
you're doing a great job on this. it's looking very promising, keep it up, the entire homebrew community respects what you're doing.
in regards to what to work on next, I am sure I speak with the majority of people here when I say framerate should be goal #1.
I don't care how pretty a game is if it runs at an unplayable speed. However, I would gladly play a game at a faster speed even if it were missing some textures/skins/etc.
Speed first, bells and whistles later.
Thanks,
Juggaleaux
alesome love it!
holy ***** everybody, try mario kart. 13 FPS in game and graphics are nearly perfect. GREAT improvement StrmnNrmn.
u should try adding audio support and speed
its a bout efin time bin waitin for this like for ever
SPEED!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
cant wait test this
the first thing that you should focus on is without a doubt speed!
What are the most playable games for this emulator? I'd like to try it out for the first time.
I'd greatly appreciate a response.
Thanks A LOT StrmnNrmn!
Hope further work on this emulator continues smoothly. If your looking for something to work on, try to get Zelda: Ocarina of time to work smoothly. This way many speed issues and graphical issues can be tackled at the same time, and of course everyone will love you (even more) for it!!!
Thanks again.
SUPER MARIO 64
-----------------------
(With Tesselate Large Tris ON)
~12 FPS in Peach Intro
~7-8 FPS around the castle
~8.5 FPS in the castle
~13-14 FPS in small room (such as bob-omb battlefield room)
~34 FPS on the Menu screen (not that that matters)
~6-6.5 in the bob-omb battlefield level.
>
~24 FPS Main Menu
~11-15 Lakitu Intro
~10-11 Around Castle
~11 In Castle
~18! in small room
~7.5 Bob-omb BattleField
Sorry, thought it was only fair to have both types.
weve been waitin' for this a looooong time now and it should be pretty good cant wait to try great job StrmnNrmn we just need speed and speed!
I must say this emulator is coming along quite fantastically. Do continue to make more updates to this amazing n64 emulator. Tis a fine achievement indeed...
Is there ANY WAY there will be a full speed Goldeneye64 on PSP?
mario kart is chill on this great job!
Same speed as every other emu i really see no change but its not done yet so theres still more to come
decompressing a rom takes so long my psp falls asleep.
hey i can't download it
People if you wanna be impressed look for aerogauge !!! only missing some speed !!
SPEED SHOULD BE THE #1 PRiority!!!
its the same thing california apeed doent even work. amd thats the best game on there
hopefully he can fix the in game crashes and fps in R7. good jod StrmnNrmn.
To most people it's going to look like the same thing... given the month it's been since the last release, I was expecting a little more as well... but...
this one crappy emu why bother to anounce one day before its release and give a emulator that only gives a 0.1% of security of working C'mon give us something to believe. theres many things aut there that worth the waiting not this ahhhrgg this sucks how disapointing.... :( ill give you an F for this $h!7
Since you have not decided what to work on, i suggest speed. Graphical fixes and sound and stuff can come after the speed is improved more. That is only my opinion though.
Great job though, keep up the hard work and I prove all the people who say we will never have a good N64 emu wrong!
A speed increase would definitly be something to look forward to for r7. Espically with the graphical fixs in this release. speed should be a main focus.
in R7 he should put the ability to frame skip.
This was... well... pretty.. well... well... *****. Sorry to say but, it was very, very bad... but I have to admit it is the best one out there.
...get a life. dont you have something better to do than write speed 500 times?
Oh snap my favorite system is getting better i love seeing work in progress...i think he should work on speed thats really the main thing for somethiing this good.oh crap man i can play without my game freezing.hopefully i can play chameleon twist 1 and 2 ,dark rift ,megaman 64 and super smash bros. rock on strmnnrmn rock on :)
Im willing to wait as long as it takes for this emulator to kick ass!the graphics have gotten better!speed lacks but we crawl before we walk...much repect to the developer of this emulator..you got skills:)
Some people are asshats. Do you guys know how much work is behind this? If you can do it better, then go for it. Stop criticising and be thankful that he works for YOU.
I agree with 40 (wow it rhymes)
I'm not even that interested anymore because of the
minor improvement everytime it is released.
I mean I respect all the work that is been done so far,
But it's still disappointing.
By the way what happened to monkey?
And the 3 roms specified emu?
trmnNrmn Keep It Up, Ure Doin A Great Job......
Yea Here and There the Speed is Still Glitchy but Hey! It's Still Good.
-Thanks for Spendin Your Time On This Project and Sacrificin ure daily life, lol. Well I Think You Should Go Out More and Lay-Off The Project For Awhile, u know... for a outstandin effort.
To start off, can i just say, great job StrmnNrmn, your work is really starting to take shape, 1 step at a time eh, keep up the good work.
Now to my point, its developers like StrmnNrmn who really make the psp scene worth being a part of, and it gives us something to look forward to, but what really pisses me off, is the FULL SPEED N64 EMULATOR which qj.net were so sure was real that they would BET there entire REPUTATION on it. The fact that they had it as front page news alongside all the other worthy developments makes it even more frustrating. This fake development which everybody could see is a 'fake' (like night and day) had a huge news post on a site like this which sort of brought a slight hope to people that it may be possible, why else would qj post it.... well, my gut feeling was right, it was a a fake to get people all rattled in their cages and qj was starved for attention. Why else post something as bogus as this when time and time again we have been duped into vapourware like this N64 TAT which brings praise to these H0axerz and less to real developers like psmonkey and StrmnNrmn. Heres these two developers coding away trying their utmost best to further their developments for the community, but then you got THIS site who posts up crap about someone claiming to have a better app then these two devs which makes their work obsolete (Full speed emu instead of real working tested WIP emu) and all this without an ounce of evidence. WHAAAAA, what is this world comming to when people get frontpage news without even doing anything, and on a site like qj.net...which i have to point out, i have lost ALL respect for.
This is absolutly ridiculous that we, the readers (what make one half of the blog a success), have to take in this garbage and then the utter disrespect towards the developers (which makes the other half of the blog a success). Such discontent for both readers and developers alike, it makes you wonder why nobody else is questioning qj.nets reliability, because from where i stand, qj.net is not worthy of making news posts, what i dont get is the people writing the posts should really thing long and hard before pressing that submit story button, but something like that news post about full speed n64 emu isnt really something you have to think long and hard about, if in doubt, reply back to the developer claiming this and ask for some proof, don't settle for 'i give you my word' or any other lame excuse, becuase you know its only going to bite you in the arse, someone like me is bound to question the validity of this site.
I don't know about you guys but i think this is damn right unreasonable to be fed this garbage, i mean how many of you come to qj.net to get bogus news, if i wanted bogus news i would go to shoutwire, but i come to here to get my daily fix of psp NEWS and latest DEVELOPMENTS, not talk about a supposed full speed n64 emulator, which if you really had half a brain, would realise that this is impossible especially this early in time.
I myself regard this as abuse of the readers as all they are doing is getting people who they call its readers, all worked up, and for what? for nothing, thats what.
But enough of my ranting, i hope you people wake up and shout your opinions on this matter too. I would like to thank StrmnNrmn for all his efforts, especially for continuing his work even after reading bogus claims backed by none other then pspupdates, these developers are what make this scene interesting, not fake self proclaimed developers with not an ounce of proof and stupid excuses.
Love to hear your comments on that people. Thanks for reading.
Your friendly neighborhood Mogungo
It's a great project but, let's be honest, who is really going to play at that speed??? I tried it and deleted it right away.

-The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time *works* (slow and glitchy. freezes at "GREAT DEKU TREE" intro Speech.
-Super Mario 64 *works* (slow and glitchy)
-Super Smash Bros. (Medium and Glitchy, but freezes after you press start)
Do you mind explaining to me what an "Asshat" is?...
We do realize how much effort and time is put into this ***** but, we dont lie and say its amazing when its pretty ***** and doesnt even come close to the real n64.
for ppl that is saying great job and yeaahhhh i was waiting that.... stop being such of idiots and see the real thing zelda freeze it mario veeerrrryyyy S....L....O....W... dont you see Cmon ok its good hearing that there a hope of n64 emu but come i kepp waiting for this i even sleep and what it sucks soo ppl give a hell yeah if youre think like me HELL YEAHHH!!!!
i agree with you, 48 is a looser...
did you go back and check that supposed getting-my-hopes-up news. let me post it here:
---------------------------
StrmnNrmn has informed us that he will be updating his Daedalus N64 emulator by bringing out build R6 hopefully tomorrow. Here's what he said: "I've spent the last couple of days polishing a number of graphical issues and I need to set myself a target date otherwise I'll just keep tinkering for ages. I'll have a longer post tomorrow with details of the changes that have made it into R6."
StrmnNrmn has also answered a few questions that were left after his last update. Here's the information we have obtained from StrmnNrmn answering user questions:
* There will be a minor speed increase as a side-effect of fixing the memory leak, but probably nothing noticeable. It's mostly a graphical update
* The screenshot glitch has been fixed (it was getting in an infinite loop trying to create the directory for the screenshots on the memory stick)
* Screen flickering has been fixed
You can look forward to all this and more graphical updates soon, hopefully tomorrow; so stay tuned to PSPUpdates!
Thanks for the tip Morgan!
---------------------------------
now, where did it say it was going to be "FULL SPEED N64 EMULATOR which qj.net were so sure was real?" unless i misread that news update, then i am wrong. or you're referring to something else?
Good to see a new release, even if teh speed hasnt enhanced much..
What ever happened to the Emulator that was suppose to run 1 SPECIFIC game. There was one for Zelda, Mario, and Goldeneye...whatever happened to those?
HELL YEAH THANX #58
HELL YEAH!!!
you stupid nobhead what are you on about, your wrong, mogango is talking about a FULL SPEED EMULATOR as he stated so many times, you must have had your head buried up your ass, read previous comment before mogungos, we were actually told right here on pspupdates that a full speed nintendo 64 emulator that would run only run one specific game but have 3 different versions thus having 3 full speed games, would be released within the next couple of days, that was almost a month back now....Savy, you stupid prick read the entire thing before you comment.
Man, these unregistered posters who have nothing better to do then commit slander on any developement in the scene. I swear pspupdates, just disable unregistered posting so these people grow a pair and register to post, where mods can get them for their stupid comments... and ya wonder whyeveryone thinks kids these days are getting dumb. its because they are. Posting speed 500 times or saying "this sucks" doesn't make you a rebel, or cool. You wonder why people say"great, good work, keep it up"? Because we want developers to keep doing what they do. Though, most developers have enough common sense not to listen to n00bs who don't even know how homebrew is made, they just think it pops out of someones butt.
Anyone dissing a programmer for trying is f**ing looser... you don't deserve to be on this scene. Go and jack off to a real N64 or something and come back when your done.
Programmers are doing you guys a FAVOR by releasing these to the public. Don't blow them off. You can say that its slow... not that it sucks. WORK IN PROGRESS.
f**ken noobs
you missed the news update and you are wrong :-P hes nowhere remotely talking about strmnnrmn's work. hes actually respecting these two developer (including psmonkey) by criticising this news that qj.net posted. with no proof or evidence or update on since. for that matter. and yes a lot of ppl is upset over this "story" qj.net reported.
link here: http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=57643
the 48th poster and that KFC.
here's the thing:
the emu sucks, very bad, but props for StrmnNrmn's DEDICATION, TIME, EFFORT and i'm sure SACRIFICE.
you people prolly all want a full working n64 emu, right? now, what do you do? well, you don't say "it's frigging lame" or anything of that sort coz that might discourage StrmnNrmn even a little.
seriously, how old are you?
I think this is what he was talking about...
Nintendo 64 UltraHLE Emulator Alpha Teaser: Full Speed Mario, Zelda, and Goldeneye
Posted Jul 01, 2006 at 05:51PM by Jamie M.
Listed in: Homebrew Emulators, News, Nintendo 64

Well as if the 2.5 / 2.6 Downgrader wasn't big enough news for one weekend, upon checking my email today I noticed an update from longtime GBA developer and reader ZoMbi146. We have been in contact over the last few days and just today I received two brand spanking new teaser shots from ZoMbi146's new Nintendo 64 Emulator.
Work on this emulator which is based on the UltraHLE engine, has been going on for some time. It appears now the emulator will be split into separate eboots that are hard coded for specific roms. For example Mario64 and Zelda would not use the exact same loader. What this allows is for the emulator to be specifically tweaked to run the specific game at the best possible speed, sound and compatibility. A current available and rather general example would be SnesTYL switching graphic modes.
In addition "each version would have special tweaks with optimizations that would make each appropriate rom run correctly at full speed with sound." The games that are currently working in this method are Mario 64, Zelda OOT, and Goldeneye 64.
Just on a side note, the Nintendo 64 was a good platform and did have quite a few games. One of the things that made the system suffer, however, was a rather difficult programming interface. For these games to play very well, or in this case at full speed, is quite an amazing feat.
Not sure about you but I look forward to hearing more from Zombi146 in the coming days. Until then we will be standing on our heads and drooling from the mouth (yuck) as we await the reawakening of Mario 64, Zelda OOT, and Goldeneye on the PSP. Nice work ZoMbi146, nice work!
i think this is a load of shyt..and i dnot' know y ppl like to raise the readers hopes like this... its sad...
Uhh yeah I dunno about you guys, but im not some completely spoiled jackass who after someone spends a few weeks of work on a program and releases it for everyone to use, starts talkin ***** about how its not where you want it to be yet. if he said "full speed in a few weeks guys' youd have a right to be upset. if you paid money for a full speed emulator and got this you'd have a right to be upset, if emulating a console on a handheld only took a few lines of code that everyone knew.. then you'd have a right to be upset.. or maybe not because in that case you should have *****in wrote it. I mean, ***** he even said there would be no speed increase, and everyone is like "i just tried it what a letdown its still slow" WTF???
in 4 to 6 months or more when hes done this Mammoth coding project for everyone else, you're all going to be playing it and praising his name. so have some *****ing patience and quit discouraging the someone whos trying to bring N64 gaming onto the psp.
anyway, If strmnnrmn actually takes any of these comments seriously, hopefully its the positive ones. He IS doint a pretty damn good job after all.
Super smash bros does work.....try dynamic recompiler off, and show fps, and tera= yes, and and load game, and immediately click start and x and keep clicking and clicking start and x...will bring you to menu then go to practice 2 and it will work...graphics aren't great but good work. I have screenies if anyone wants proof, and you can do it yourself. just use my setting, reply to this if anyone gets in past where they said they couldn't
Zachary Wezenberg
@zachwezenberg_ 1@hotmail.com
hope you know this DOES work, just graphics andd speed aren't great, and shows all info flashing in back, very glitchy, umm around 11 fps...try it, and reply in comments to tell me it worked...
Guys, It's working progress... They don't get pay to do this. Is anybody paying money for this? NO! It's free and it's awesome. Give people credit for develop emu and homebrew. I think every update should get notice. It's only way to encourage more people to work on homebrew and emu. They are basically doing for fame. WHy not praise them more? Instead, you guys are ungretful. People will lose interest if there is no news update every other day. I know it will happened. So, sit back and enjoy what you get.
You only need to disable dynamic recompiler, and yes to tera whatever it is... and just press start after intro screen...
Zachary Wezenberg
Keep up the good work but PLEASE on R7 work on SPEED as thats what EVERYONE wants including me
OOMG MARIO PARTY RUNS! I AM PLAYING PARTY MODE AS WE SPEAK!! THIS IS AWESOME, IM GETTING A 2.0 FR IN THE MENU, BUT 4 ON THE MAP, I AM SHOCKED AND PLEASED, THANK YOU STRMNRNMNNMERNR NR I LOVE YOU
yes, i missed that part, thanks for directing me to that newsupdate.
poster 63: you stupid *****! that's why i said "then i am wrong. or you're referring to something else?" i wasn't being sarcastic. you must have covered your eyes with ***** that you didn't see my disclaimer.
on a side note: pspupdates.qj.net admin, check the validity of your sources, it does ruin your reputation.
I have only gotten it to work with training bonus 2...will reply later if any other work....confirmed that 1p battle will FREEZE
STRRRNUM STOP MAKING SLOW EMUS. IS IT JUST ME OR IS SO SLOW???? WTF MAN WHY NOT MAKE IT FAST AS PC. HEY WHEN PSDONKEYS FULL SPEED 10 ROM n64/MEGADRIVE EMU COMES OUT STRRRRNRIRM WILL be IN THE DUST.. AFTER ALL DONKEYS IS GROUND UP!
DAMNIT I WANNA TRY THIS EMU
Come on dark alex, get us the T-082ers a 2.71 kernell access, for how long are you guys planning to stay in 1.5 firmware !!!
if he works on speed first then graphics then the speed would just fall aprt again do to graphics enhancing. he does not want to start over with speed every time graphics get better
Thanx for your hard work StrmnNrmn. i'd love to see speed improvments in the next release but you probably know what needs to be done more than me so whatever.
FIRST POST WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOO
YTMND kicks ass!!!!!
fff
Mogungo what you said is completely right. CUT IT OUT QJ.NET. I probably weren't quite as upset as you but i get wot u mean. pspupdates should check before posting.
P.S. lionheart216 is a prick, theres more evidence supporting this fact then the one about the full speed emu haha.
Lmfao that "lol internet" guy is sooo funny...
Anyway, Strmnnrmn, please make this thing work faster?
I don't care much about graphical problems. Neither do most of the people here, too. We want speed. Please?
To poster 85
i dl it and checked out the controlls and was really pleased
on how the maped them out but one suggestion that it think would be alot better is insted of holding the circle for the d pad you could hold it for the c buttons cuzz the d pad is probably used more or maby not it depends on the game your playing
Dang, this guy is pumping them out and that loser ZoMbi146 cant even release his "already working" bull***** emulator.
Seriously, why is ZoMbi146 being let off the hook by PSP Updates? These attention whores lying about emulators need to be chastised by the public and have their reputations ruined. The bastard even posted photos of his psp supposedly running it, he planned the entire thing out. He embarassed PSP Updates and he disrespected true developpers like StrmnNrmn by pulling that stunt.
He owes us an apology
Just to make things clear to people, it was ZoMbi146 who lied to us about the full speed emulator a few weeks ago, NOT StrmnNrmn.
PSP Updates really needs to clear the air about their post on ZoMbi146's fake full speed emulator since they made it seem like we can trust that guy. If we dont get a news update by QJ then decent developers like Strmn are going to keep getting this crap everytime he updates the emulator.
1. we all are wanting full speed playability. 2. second we want audio 3. third we want more working roms
good job dude. mario kart has awesome speed and is now playble thanks to YOUUUUUUUU> you rule keep up the good work!!!!!!!
PspDonkey was a confermed FAKE! ,as far as I remember, he had those fake fotos or video of
mariokart released. And what do youb mean with n64/MEGADRIVE EMU ?
My god you're all a bunch of idiots. The emulator that supposidly was being designed to run a few roms at full speed was an entirely different emulator... what makes you think that just because an N64 emulator updates on the surface that it is exactly what you were waiting for? Have you not been watching the progress of this emulator?
I wish teenie-boppers were banned from commenting on this site. Seriously I do.
Imagine if STRMNNMN would team up with ZX-81,this emu would really ROCK!!!!It would have sound and play at almost full speed!!!So come on whatta ya say you guys team up huh?
HEY, STAR FOX 64 WORKS AT A PLAYABLE SPEED once you get past the intro which takes a long time. But its still playable.
yeah, it is playable, but it is pretty slow. wonder what other games are reasonably playable. Hey, STRMNNMN, keep up the great work, you're doing an awsome job. Main focus, should definately be speed.
This is truely great! Keep up the great work, thank you!
do you know why strmafdoigfjghg boi(a simple nick no eh? ;)) works on everything instead of the only speed? because if he works only on speed later he will get a lot of problems to resolve graphical glitch, sound, ecc...
yo i jus wanted to kno if this would work on 2.6 i tried and it jus keeps shutting off my psp the same thing happens with my Dgen but it randomly works is it the same with this???
nice
good things come to those who wait as they say, if i was a dev and getting this much crap from people i wouldnt release on this site because there are so many ungrateful kids here who dont understand hard work, great work StrmnNrmn you deserve more respect for the work you are doing in this half ungrateful community
work on speed. Even if its just getting 1 particular rom to work. i guess these graphical fixes were sutable for a new release so im not gonna bash you.
Why do all you idiots complain strmnnrmm needs to work on speed? You don't think he's working on it? Do you have any idea how hard a system like N64 is to emulate on a resource limited PSP? This is a great release and I don't know how many developers for FREE PSP software quit because of your b*itching!
I'm Sick of Hype, and Bias.
QJ.NET = Nice Site, Nice to get most news and Download files from
DEVS like StrmnNrmn = The People putting in the raw work.
Kids on here = A pain in the neck Complaining about things and doing stupid things like saying first post, second post.
StrmnNrmn, This is good release I like the work so far, and Like most people I can't wait for the significant speed increases,
I think I speek for everyone when I say at least a 10 fps increase should be your main priority for R7
Thank you!!!!!
Are you saying goldeneye works???
I'll say that Mario Kart works pretty well. Mine froze though a little into it. I used the one that was like this:
Mario Kart 64 (E) (V1.0) [!].z64
There are a bunch of others. Which one is the best? BTW, I own the original Mario Kart 64 for you pirating accusing peeps on the web. I can show you it if you want, lol.
you should definitely work on speed for R7. the graphics look fine right now and i wouldn't mind small glitches if the games worked at full speed.
speed and compatibility are the most important things because they determine wether the games are playable or not.
honestly dude, I respect you and youre work but dont release something if its no diffrent than the last one. People dont want graphical fixes they want speed increases
maybe in 10yrs we'll see a good snes emu on psp2..
I think speed would be a good thing to work on, becuase imo getting a game running well is better than get loads of games working slow, but nice work! I'm very impressed with everything so far.
Peace
does anyone know if those 2 games in the description work plus how good are the graphics now in super mario? and what are the best settings for the emu?
I thought up a good key mapping scheme that should work great for almost all games. Have 2 different schemes selectable by the select button. Home button would bring up a menu. All would have start=start, and R=right trigger, A=X, B=square, and user selectable circle and triangle buttons. #1 would be L=Z button, and D pad= C pad (yellow buttons) with the analog stick for analog control. #2 would be for digital control games and have L=L, D pad= D pad, and analog stick for C buttons. This would have the most used buttons permanently mapped and square and triangle could be customized depending on the game.
mario is running at 8-14 fps for me with the dynarec engine and tesselate large triads on. Excellent improvement. I can't wait for the next release!
hey, mabe this will play more games than the last version, like banjo kazooie. great game
***** ur mums
I think the majority of people here wanna play mario 64 on their PSP. Consentrate on just that playing at full speed with sound.
Better yet, is it possible to just take a mario 64 rom and switch it up into a lua game or something like that?
This seems no different to the last release, im sure strummmnnnammma nannmmnrnrnrrrr mmmmrmm is a cool programer
but if we are going to just get an update every 4-6 weeks and the differences are this slight, then shouldn't he let some other folk help??
why not work with that PSDonkey guy or something??? then take a month or three and hit us with something mindblowing!!
By the way when is the Nintendo 64 UltraHLE Emulator coming out???
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Nintendo-64-UltraHLE-Emulator-Alpha-Teaser-Full-Speed-Mario-Zelda-and-Goldeneye/pg/49/aid/57643
the article implied it was very soon and virtually fullspeed, it was dated 1st july???!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?
I love pspupdates, but about 2-3 weeks you`ve said something about FULL SPEED-Emu from a guy named Zombi or something! What about that, where you re getting your information from?
Then you could also write this: Great News: a guy, somewhere has been working on a x-box 360 Emu for PSP with full speed support
...sorry about that, but I`m not happy about false information....
anywhere, go on, great work...
thanks for your hard work on this looking forward to the next update .Don't let the stupid comments stop you working on this great project . We all know how difficult it is to emulate the 64 console and all your work and efforts is much appreciated .
"Absolute Garbage" should be the name of the next version. QJ.Net is full of ****. The only thing that they have going for them is their page scraper code that scrapes from other prominent hacking sites. I've tried this emu and it is a complete dissapointment, not form the author, but from QJ's lies. QJ, why don't you start finding your own news to update all of you scraped pages for all of the consoles. The truth is that no one person from QJ knows anyone in the scene for any console. This is why there information is inaccurate. Bunch of rip-offs.
qj.net is full of bs......they told us a full speed n64 emu just to gather all of the attention frum other hacking sites!
middle finger to qj.net !
I want some speed, in R7
Yes it works for 2.6, you need to download the 1.00 version and make sure u have the Eloader made by Fanjita(which u can find on this site) and a copy of Grand Theft Auto LCS. I have 2.6 too.
QJ.NET FESS UP ABOUT Zombi146!
You have a responsibility to update people about the supposed "full speed emulator" so that real emulators dont get compared to fake ones with insane expectations.
It was obvious that a full speed n64 emulator that was simply "designed for a specific game" was fake, but you made it seem like Zombi was a trusted developer and that he couldnt be lying. Now we have all these newbies expecting StrmnNrmn to come out with a full speed emulator too.
These guys know no one from the scene. They are poser, hacker, emugod wannabes. They are only here to generate income from unsuspecting users coming to their sites and clicking on advertisements. They care nothing about their users or the scene. Thanks for ripping off the real sceners and making a mockery of them. For all of you who wish to see the real sites and forums that these posers are stealing their information from take a look at the links. They speak for themselves.
http://www.xbox-scene.com/ = http://360updates.com
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/= http://pspupdates.com
Hey bastards, don´t use this to dissapoint the world.
THIS EMU IS A MASTERPIECE WANKERS, IF YU CAN DO IT BETTER DO A COMMENT... IF NO GET LOSS.
Pspupdates the best page about PSP and no more stupids comments.
PD: This emu has future, the other one about full speed is a proof of concept to play 2 or 3 games. SO DON´T ***** THE WORLD WITH USELESS COMMENTS PLEASE.
MOTHER *****ERS!
All of you whining "forget the graphics, focus on speed" obviously know nothing of prgramming.
For speed to be increased the code must be optimized, now why would anyone want to waste time optimizing code that isn't complete or working properly yet? I wouldn't....
You people should be happy with whatever releases these developers feel fit to let you have!
Hell, it's not like you're paying for them...
Great job

Strnm, very good job on this version, more compatibility and better renders, SLIGHTY more speed.
But what we'd really like is an emulator that has sound and at least 40FPS, in-game. Graphics are not an issue, as long as they are not INVISIBLE.
Wish i had a 1.5 just to try this out. Also, to these people that say the emu sucks, did you even read the *****ing article?
"It is intended to show the potential for a N64 emulator on the PSP, but the current release has many missing features that make it far from usable."
This is not meant to be a goddamn playable product. From the statement it seems to be a PROOF OF CONCEPT.
Awesome work, I totally support you n' all, but fer real. What's up with that fullspeed emulator? I'm sure it takes a while to do that sort of thing, but you should totally keep us more informed on it. You're implementing all of this small (yet so great :D) stuff for the N64 emu, but I thought that you boasting like that would mean you figured it all out. Er, something like that. =P
Keep up the good work, you rock.
wow real gay and slow
I WANT AUDIO MOTHA *****A
YOUR BEING *****ING *****HEADS
Appreciate what the man is doing, working his *****ing ass off!
You are just going to keep complaining, and when it comes out, your the sort of *****er that will just be like "about *****ing time wanker" like what the ***** is this *****
your a stupid dumb *****, lots of you are, for posting comments like 'SPEED' and 'NO AUDIO THIZ IZ ***** LOL'
i would LOVE to see you try harder.
AWSOME work StrmnNrmn, keep it up.
to number 139
GET OUT!
gr8t work StrmnNrmn, i hav been following ur wicked emu for ages now.
P.s keep up the wicked work
At number 139
You are gay u mother*****er piece of ***** lets see u do better
Great work StrmnNrmn! Keep it up!
wow you are amazing, this may not be full speed, but SM64 is terrific, 6 months ago if u told somone u were makin a N64 emu for PSP they would look at u like u were osama bin laden, but man u did it! this is something u could deff be proud of! KEEP THE GOOD WORK UP!
ok guys listen...... all of u giving Strmnnrmn crap are retards if u think u can do better by all means DO SO.. seriously if ur guna play this emu and be like this is crap dont play it.... i for one thing that Strmnnrmn is a god for atempting the 64 emu its awsome....look at his first one on my psp it ran about 1.0 fps for mario 64(out side castle) and now r6 is running 9.24-13.11 fps outside the castle thats some major improvement considering he is keeping it looking awsome
also at first i had a problem that he didnt have all the buttens yet and a few other things.....think about it like a few others have said if u work speed first then add the buttens/graphics/fix gliches/ect... then when u try to play it again ull have no speed because u filled it up too much ...overload....seriously have some common sence here this guy is makeing something just about ever gamer loves N64 on the go... and hes doing it on his own time out of the goodness of himself.... if ur guna bytch n moan DONT DL IT....DONT PLAY IT.... AND IF U REALLY THINK ITS CRAP BUILD UR OWN
p.s. sorry for everyone else im kinda venting the fact that people arent appreciated anymore for doing kind things specially when they take alota work.
and to Strmnnrmn AWSOME MAN KEEP IT UP and hopefully speed will increase alot more it seams like ur ona roll...shyt if i had money i'd be paying u for this lol.... keep up the awsome work and good luck in the future!!!
All you *****s that are just complaining need to shut there butthole.. Strmnnrmn is doing his very best to develop a great emulator, just let him release some versions and work with some space.. You guys being such asses isn't getting the emulator done you know! Just be supportive to this legendary developer.. You've definitelly earned my respect buddy :) Keep it up!
Um... why was this bumped to the top again? Yeah, there's an update, but that update isn't incorporated into R6. StrmnNrmn simply made a post on his blog about some improvements that'll probably show up in R7.
to every1 who loves strmmmn for making dis.........kiss my @22!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! gay gay gay! this emu sux worst than strmmn girlfriend! middle finger to strmmn! and every1 who is honestly being gay by jumping this bull*****! strrmmn is a big effing lier! i will give this guy exactly 0credit....simply bcuz he sux ass at making emu's! thats it! i can make a better emu than him just so you know......and what yall r gunna probly say go make 1 then......well considering i helped make project64......i dont think i need to say much.......strmmn yur gay bcuzx you lied! not like i have an psp but when emu makers like us lie and get everry1 happy over sumthing so tootally not true...thats just gay!
to 148 im sure u could make a better emu then y dont u do it. U r an a$$wipe that thinks they are so cool by writing like this yur bcuzx everry u cant spell. StrmnNrmn is doing a great job so shut StrmnNrmm keep going this is fantastic work u rock
Is #148 none other than ZoMbi146?
It sounds like something that punk ass liar would say to try and make it seem he knows more about making an n64 emulator than Strmn
DUDE THIS WAS A GOOD UPDATE I CAN SEE THE PROGRESS!how about people use less time judging his hard work and more time making a better one..if not they should just shut the f*** up!at least he does it for free and at his own time, the best thing you guys do for free is talk SH**...sooner or later you who doubt him will be on his testicels when you see his work at its best!
Is this a new re-release of R6 or what....?
yes
i pwn
You guys are lame. Go get a life you idiots instead of slobbering on your computer holding your pnis waiting for the emulator to run at full speed. Then you get your panies in a knot when it is not runnig at full speed. You ungratefull a$$wholes stop flaming qj and the developer, why dont you go and finish this emulator yourself? Oh yes you cant because you are too dumb and lazy to even know where to start. You are NOT supposed to bite the hand that feeds. For all you ungrateful flamers, go F*** your mom. By the way kudos to StrmnNrmn
I cant belive how many ungrateful *****wits there are.. (148)
Would luv to see strmmmn get it @ a good speed with sound, and release a vid of him running it
or did u just find out something new about the emulator, but same files?
anyone know why it freezes after a minute in amrio kart?
To #148: You need some serious help. I could help you: Get lost.
at 148
Yeah, you were REALLY part of project64! I dont see that many retarded spelling mistakes in the GUI unlike your post, maybe you were involved in another area... like sucking the ACTUAL devs c0cks maybe?
Go wait for your 12th birthday kiddo and stay the ***** off the net. Its funny how many people think there clever for posting crap in the comments. The N64 is a hard system to emulate d1ckwads, thats why its taking time to get up to speed. I gues EVERY SINGLE *****1NG EMULATOR should have been ditched for not running full speed right away. EVERY PIECE OF HOMEBREW SHOULD HAVE BEEN DITCHED for not doing everything right on the first few releases.
S0dding retards, grow a brain, learn to spell, get some mates, learn social skills, realise that mouthing off on the internet isnt big or clever and your attitude will probably either earn you several beatings throughout your life, no girlfriend/wife, no job because you wont even be able to spell right on the application form. Enjoy your sh1tty little sad life mouthing off on comment sections hiding behind the internet like a real big man.
Strmnnrmn, keep it up mate. Great job! (I say great job because no-one else is even bothering to work on a N64 emu an Im gratefull someone is, get that you retards? No-one else is doing jack all so give it a rest)

oh my god this emu rocks! plays mario kart at 70%, it will be perfect soon
looking at the new update on this article, i am happy to see these improvements to the dynarec engine. I am hoping for a great speed improvement in the next release, and i think it'll happen after seeing the news update. Excellent work StrmnNrmn!
For everyone that keeps playing this emulator down...
First off....
Do you see that R before the 6? It isn't a final version, just a release of the "work in progress". This is simply to show how its going, and let people tinker, and test the program.
You will NOT get full speed, and honestly if you were expecting it please get off the internet....you don't deserve to use it.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to code an N64 emulator? Nevertheless get it working on a 333mhz processor, with 32MB ram...
Not to mention not even a standard PC...
This is an achievement that would not only be amazing not only for the PSP scene, but all homebrew scenes.
Most people thought the PSP wouldn't even have enough power to be doing what it's doing right now...
Many thanks to StrmnNrmn for his hard work, and also picking up probably the hardest programing task (when it comes to homebrew).
Can't wait to see the progress in your next build!
this does not make me want to download this.... it still runs at a slow framerate...
if he keeps NOT working on the framerate, hell i won't give him any support at all
Wasn't R6 released a couple of days ago, I don't understand, is this the exact same one, or did the numbering get messed up some how?
It was re-upped because "avid reader Morgan" updated qj and they bumped it back to the top. In reality strmn nrmn updated his blog that anyone can check and qj obviously doesnt even visit it, so they had to wait for a user (who probably isnt an "avid reader") to email them that nrmn updated his blog and said he had a productive weekend/made some changes
ur rite guys people dont seem 2 understand how much effort a project lyke this needs. i mean some people who flame others need 2 get a life and stop sucking on their mothers breasts. strmnrmn deserves credit 4 such an achievement even though the emulator runs slow with no sound. i wos playing star fox 64 and it was running at about 8 fps on the training mode (it had crashed on the main game) but i was amazed none the less. SSB kept crashing which was a shame bcos its my fav game of all time but im not so bothered cos i got an N64 with a lot of games so im not complaining. emulating a 93.75 mhz processor on a 333 mhz processor is near impossible but give it up 2 strmnnrmn 4 trying neways! good work man and i hope some speed issues can be fixed in the next release
sorry my name was supposed 2 be beansta. my keyboard is shyte
I'm 18, why would you want to know? If you can't do BETTER, don't come here and flame Strmnnrmn's work. Do you guys even KNOW how to port an emulator? Do you know how hard it is to code it?
I sure don't know how to do it, but if only 1 person out of hundreds of homebrew developers is trying to accomplish it, it sure as hell it can't be easy. You guys are those spoiled 12 year-old kids that have everything they want. You don't have a full-speed emu? Then let's go yell at the creator so he does it quick! Heck, If I were in his position, I'd probably give up with all these crappy people shouting saying how my work sucks. Of course, there's the other population, the minor part of people that tries to support the developer and not bring him down. The only reason I'd keep working would be for these individuals.
Grow up, get a life, stop being a spoiled brat.
Yeah I tipped Qj that StrmnNrmn had updated his blog, that's why you guys see the daedalus article back up. I'm not really an "avid reader" I just follow Daedalus and test roms for StrmnNrmn. I think they called me "avid" because the last like 3 daedalus updares were brought to Qj's attention by me. Enjoy R7 when it comes out guys!
You're a *****in idot. Holy crap.
MY SUGGESTION AS OF MANY MANY MANY PPL OTHER PPL Is that u focus on the speed and only the speed... Make everything pretty AFTER u fix it up.. i'm not like most of these UNGRATFUL BASTARDS and really love your work and your contruibution to the homebrew communitee.. i love it and can't wait til you master it
You goddam stupid mother*****ers who say to optimize the framerate when the graphics and memory exceptions aren't even sorted out, listen up: if he were to do so in that order he would be right back to the very *****ing beginning when adding more combiners/fixing graphical glitches/memory bugs and would need to optimize the speed all over again.
I'm sorry (most of) you guys don't understand how programming languages work but they work the same way any language is written; If you change the ending, you'll need to go back and change the beginning so you start by changing the beginning, which in programming an emulator is making sure the graphics works and the core doesn't have any exceptions, or at the very least a minimal amount.
To whom it may concern: I apologize for the language but the sheer ignorance in the majority of comments in this article is rediculous. You don't bash something you get for free from someone else's dedication of their free time. Hell, you don't bash something you don't even have any understanding of. You say "its slow, im a programmer and i could do better" well I don't see you giving any goddam advice worth a sh1t. Do everyone a favor and shut the ***** up if all you're going to do is whine like a little b1tch.

Personally, I think everyone who comes here to rant about what the emulator ISN'T doing for them can take their opinions and shove them in the largest empty bodily orifice available (chances are it's their head, not their ass). If YOU want an N64 emulator that runs 100% speed SO damn bad, then make one yourself. Don't whine and complain at the people who are actually trying to make it happen, for FREE, or the people that are still working hard at presenting you with a more glitch-free release (see also, the 3-game emu everyone keeps talking about). Just because you aren't playing it yet doesn't mean they aren't working on it.
I can't believe how completely and utterly ignorant and selfish the majority of QJ.Net readers are. You're literally taking your own oblivion and ineptitude and somehow converting it into the fault of QJ.net developers and authors just because you think it's reasonable that you're asking for instant, cost-free gratification on your PSP. If anything, the fact that we are even playing homebrew on our PSPs is a PRIVELEGE courtesy of the homebrew creators AND the distributive help of QJ.net.
Strmnrmn, I want to thank you GREATLY for all your hard work on the emulator. You give me something to do on my lunch breaks, which is play through Mario 64. You say it's far from usuable, but I've already got three stars and access to nearly all the castle levels now thanks to your new savegame feature. You keep doin what you're doin and you're going to be famous for an emulator of this quality. Don't let all these pre-teen idiots get you down, it's the ignorant majority unfortunately that speaks for us, because all the smart people are tapping away at their PSPs playing your emulator :)
Looking forward to R7!

Agreed about comments.. makes coming to the site like sitting in remedial class.. hmmm is that the right spelling.. nothing wrong with remedial class.. but ignorant peoples views cloud the thoughtful comment
