Daedalus R13 update: Release date, progress on savestate feature |
Ó
After a month-long hiatus, StrmnNrmn finally got his broadband Internet access back after moving and blogged about another update to his N64 emulator for the PSP, Daedalus. Amidst preparations for the Tokyo Game Show, StrmnNrmn was able to take steps into adding savestate support, a feature often requested by many a Daedalus user.
You may already be familiar with savestates from emulators on your PC, which allow you to save the exact state the emulation is in at the precise moment. Aside from skipping everything from the title introductions and even the load save screen (for games with one), it would even help StrmnNrmn in quickly getting to states in the emulation for testing and debugging, for instance.
Though there's nothing tangible to test, the developer did state that he had "a little bit of work left to do" on the system and is sure to keep it as a new feature for Daedalus R13. StrmnNrmn believes there's still a lot of optimizations to run through before he could release R13, so though a September 29 release has been planned, it's likely that it could be released in the first weekend of October.
And kudos goes to Sepheroth for the cluing us in to StrmnNrmn's update.

cant wait!
Save states are great, and even that in itself as an update to the emulator would be awesome, but I would like to hear more on the updates about that 17% speed upin the emulation. great work.
Finally an Update!!! This Made my day good again =) When The release happens check out Myspace.com/DaedalusCompatibility...It will have updated compatibility... Well good luck S.N.!
i love this.
nice i hope the games run faster on this one
You got my support all the way!
that #1 it won't be too difficult to make a 3.6 compatible eboot and #2 that taking advantage of the extra memory in the slim is in the works for r14 :P
How is the sound coming? I hope that you can get that running better or just running period for some games, such as Super Smash Brothers. I am anxiously awaiting the new update though and keep up the good work. We all at the PSP homebrew community appreciate it.
Please grant StrmnNrmn the strength to complete this emulator with 100% fullspeed, sound, and everything that all the PSP homebrew enthusiasts could possibly want. amen.
Hopefully he will be able to take N64 emulation to perfect on the PSP.
nice strmnnrmn is back. hes the only reason i check this blog anymore.
