Ah, those were the days...Yup, you read that one right. Just when you thought NeoGeo emulators - or the US state of New Jersey">NJ was *almost* through updating these useful emulators, here he comes again with (drumroll please) another update. We have here the new source code of the dev's famous emulators CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP, and MVSPSP - all for the PSP.

Here's a little background on the three mentioned emulators. The MVSPSP is a NeoGeo emulator, the CPS2PSP is a Capcom Play System 2 emulator, and the CPS1PSP is a CPS1 1 emulator.

Now that we've cleared that up, let's see what changes NJ made to the said source code (courtesy of e-lation.net):
  • In 1.21 - Reverted the masking process in Street Fighter ZERO 3 to what it was previously. This doesn't mean that I've checked everything, so don't pay much attention.
  • In 1.20 - I've rewritten the sprite management processing, and as it was more effective then I had anticipated, I'm updating this.

It looks as though CPS2 games that were on the verge of reaching 60fps, such as T.Hawk's stage in Street Fighter IIX, etc... are now running at 60fps.
(of course, this is at 333MHz with Vsync Off/Raster Effects Off) I'd bet that you can even play games such as Street Fighter Zero with Raster Effects On with no problem.
There just isn't enough memory for MVS, so there's nothing I can do about that.

Got you excited? Then head on to our DL site and download the updated version of these emulators from NJ. Enjoy your games!

» Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a cps2 game. It has worked with this emulator before, but was unplayable because it was too slow, especially when trying to do combos. This was about 6 or something months ago. I'm too busy to try it out right now, but I'm still curious. Has anybody gotten this rom to play nicely with this emulator version? It's freakin' MVC2, how can you not be excited?

» MvsC

Regardless, MvsC worked before this release. Not full speed but pretty good and not bad enough that you cant play it with a decent speed. Sure itll stutter once in a while but its gone a long way since before. Just make sure you mess around with the settings in the menu to increase the speed. I personally like sound but this game runs amazing w/o sound. I would rather deal with a little stutter here and there then no sound.
