CAPCOM CPS2 Emulator Test Version 5 |
Ó
We've been told that the cache files (system) that had to be written prior to running the games had to be overhauled. As such, those who will download the the CPS2 Test Version 5 (and that's a lot of readers!) would have to make a new cache file for their game, otherwise the games will load up an error.
Also, the sprite management and processing were re-written anew to improve speed and stability with shooting and side scroll action. Sprite drawing and processing were substantially modified. NJ managed to correct the problems encountered with sprite masking process. He used a method that does not decrease the speed of the system.
NJ has posted some screenshots that show the problems he encountered when running several games (CS Club, Super Street Fighter II: Tournament, Dimahoo, Giga Wing, Progear, Dungeons & Dragons, and Shadow Over Mystara). If you encounter problems, just let NJ know through the comments section.
Thanks Rom Chau for the heads up!

Trying it right now!!
tried it already its very smooth.
Now, it may just be me, but mvc seems to run a lot faster than in the previous version. Awesome emulator NJ!! Good work!
so nj speaks ENglish and is part of this community? I thought most of the japanese homebrew community have their own small tightnite group? Anyway, zx and creator of daelus should use this cahce file system for gba and n64.
I don't see anything wrong with them @ the circles...? maybe we need screens from a pc-emulator to compare ;)
There are sprites missing or wrong priorities (sprite drawn on top of another while it should be the opposite)
this emulator has improved drastically in speed... good job!!!!!!!!!!!! NJ FOREVER!
Amazing!!!
i agree with 4. i think think n64 emu's should use a cache system...but hey, that's just me.
nine you are a dumb $hit
I wonder when this guy is getting sued for using a trademark like CAPCOM for an emulator what plays illegal roms on a hacked PSP. Pretty stupid move.
No 11 your nuts. Roms are 100% legal. I got raided by the UN and told them i was only testing the roms for a 24hr period and was going to delete them but kept them incase al quaida destroyed Capcom which is owned by George Bush and then I could sell capcom back my roms to preserve them. Psp hacking is allowed by sony check page 187 in the psp manual also capcom means probono (free) in japanese so its all 4 free also number 10 you are dumbnutz
I ned sum advise I briked ppsp when use capcom emulater but i also droppedd psp from window and it falls downs and hit the floor so i think it safer to drop ppsp from window because it unbricked my psp when i hits ground!!!!
lol at your bull***** story about Telling the UN al quaida would blow up capcom hahaha
I put my sony memorystik into psp from my sony digital camera and now my psp can take 5.2 megapixel shots i also have made a mirror mod for psp for only $46 you can attach this handcrafted mirroer to psp with homemade superglue!!! also have a flotation device for psp that prevents it from going underwater if you accident drop it from a bridge!!!
This has to be the BEST emulator for the psp...Thank you so much NJ
any nice psp hackin homebrelovin hot women here wanting to meet rich tough senseticve psp hackmaster
Denny Crane QC from CRANE, POOLE & SMITH Law firm. I have just confirmed with my Japanese counterparts that roms are legal as long as you say that you have paid for the games in your youth at the arcades by putting in at least 1 credit. This CONSTITUTES payment of the game and ownership rights!!! Lets class action suit against Capcom!!!
No 14 I would believe no 12 cos the United Nations was only formed after Coffee Anan played UN Squadron Capcom game thats why the UN is after ppl ripping off capcon CAPCOM created the UN or at least inspired the idea Roms are only used by terrorists The london bombers and 911 hijackers ALL HAD HACKED PSPS AND ISOS!!!!!
Hello my name is SUZUIKI TOYOTA CAPCOM and we are loggin you ip addresses and sue you for steaming capcom games this site is illegal capcom TM is not for free
Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo il tutti fucci al penne pasta diavoli !!! Al Tonno completti tatare bon aparte !! The MAfia will get you torrent terrorist with your stinking roms! Capcom is italian, you can ask that Mario bastard if you don't believe me! -x x x Luigi
Man, I wore out my Square button playing this Emu. It rocks! Good Job. Brings back good memories...
dude, u are my hero. im a 2D fighter fanatic, especially capcom and snk....this emu rocks.. the speed is better. i noticed when i was playing xmen vs. streetfighter, it was laggy for a few seconds in the first match, but then ...PRESTO!!! ...LAGGING GONE!!!!, it didnt hit me until later on in the match that it wasnt lagging anymore . the MS light wasnt flashing, so it was reading from the card. dude. KEEP IT UP!!! this emu is getting better and better. i got one request...PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FIX UP THE NEOGEO EMU....WE NEED SOUND!!! on the bigger games like the KOF series, MetalSlug series,RBFF especially MARK OF THE WOLVES AND SNK VS CAPCOM, please bro, just do it!!!
For Those Who Can't Read Japanese on NJ's Website go Here: http://www.freewebs.com/neogeocdz/ ------- original website: http://neocdz.hp.infoseek.co.jp/psp/index.html
Okay first of all! who cares if its illegal or legal. The whole damn point is that you can play the original games from the arcade you enjoyed back then on your portable PSP, so stop whining about lawsuits and illegal actions. You are the kind of people who just cries about everything or even bi tch about everything. So just find yourself another website that talks about LEGAL stuff okay and talk about your life story of how you never did anything illegal in your life.
This version is a big improvement. You don't even have to use any frameskip on most games.
Hey, i've been trying many times to get this to work, but it always gives me the same error that "This Game Doesn't Work" i put the roms in the rom folder, and i created the Cache file and put it in the cache folder... is there something else i'm supposed to do?
wow. just wow. after reading through some of these posts is this site should not allow unregistered users to post. and anyone who makes retarded comments, like some of the above should be BANNED!!! Does anybody (website owner maybe) even care?
I agree with post 23. We need sound in the NEO-GEO Cart Emu (MS3, KOF, Etc). also, should the sound be cleaned up in this emu? The music on some games sounds distorted or something?
Jesus Christ himself plays this emu......yeah,it's that good.
NJ.. You are a masta ! You enabled PSP owners to rock MVC out while taking a dump.. NJ FOR PRESIDENT !!
work on 2.6? just wondering....
I don't know if the previous version featured save states but this one has it. Press start+select to get the menu and then press the R shoulder button to get the Save States menu. This emulator simply rocks and makes me remember why I will never get rid of 1.5 firmware!! The speed is excellent too, the dev should really be proud. I feel honoured to be playing this and it brings back alot of memories too. 1.5 forever (and my Modchip)!!
After the trouble NJ had getting this running and it being labeled test etc..I wasn't expecting much, but it's *****ing fantastic! the games look gorgeous, play suprisingly fast and (i know it's only a small thing) the menus are easy to navigate and look great, you can change the dip switches, configure buttons and use save slates without fuss, superb job NJ this is a top drawer emulator.
Examples.........To Guide You You Download This File Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes (Euro 980112) -mvsc Make a Cache File out of it, looks like this "mvsc_cache" use the CPS2 Converter to do this Process You Now Download This File Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes (US 980123) -mvscu Put Both "mvsc" & "mvscu" in the same Rom Folder and Put the "mvsc_cache" in the cache folder, your game shound now start. You Will see a gray text Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes and a White Text of that game. The White one works, do not erase the the gray one, you need both files. -Go to this website: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/ then on the left bottom, you'll see "driver" go there and look for "cps2.c" Oh and The Files are called Parent & Clone Example: -Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes (Euro 980112) [Parent File] -Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes (US 980123) [Clone File] All You Need To Do Is Put the Parent and Clone File in the same Rom Folder to make the Game work. Another Example: -Parent File [MUST PUT THIS IN THE ROM FOLDER AT ALL TIMES] Marvel Vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes (Euro 980112) -Clone File [Choose Anyone of these clones to put in with the Parent File inside the Rom Folder] Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Asia 980112) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Asia 980123) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Brazil 980123) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Hispanic 980123) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Japan 980112) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Japan 980123) Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (US 980123)
Anyone running into a "romcnv.exe" carsh error upon using the cache converter program in the this latest release? I can't even cache any files. Any ideas?
I have beta 4. What do I have to do differently to get the roms running on test 5? Thanks.
thanks, the emulator works great :o) its been a while since i've played many of these games.
@35 you have to obviously download the new beta 5, then you have to re cache your roms to work with the new beta. I can't get the converter to work. I keep getting a crash error- even tried it on 2 different computers. Not sure if some dll files are outdated on my computer or what? I seem to recall this happening in the past with a different program.
I've re cached some of my roms but when I go to run them I get this message "Error: could not open block_empty (cache block skip flags)". Any suggestions? Thanks
LOL n/m figured it out. Thanks
Excellent release,
Thank You so much for working on this so tirelessly NJ. Your work should be in some sort of hall-of-fame!!
To whoever asked above, YES this works with 2.6 firmware! Man... all those hours spent playing super streetfighter II on the snes emu... now I have the real thing and it's FASTER! Also, dunno if anyone's mentioned this but you can now change the sound quality without restarting the game, and lots of games will run at full speed with the highest setting.
hey i get this error on mvx that says cpu1 or crc32 not correct wat does that mean
The converter that comes with the emu files gives me error when I try to convert the SFA.zip file.
Anyone know if NJ is working on future updates for this great emu? Can't wait to be playing the bigger/later CPS2 games without any slowdown :)
its seems like a nice emu. but how do i get it to work? why cant there just be like downloading a rom and play it? this sux :P
WOW!! im so impressed! i mean this is the best emu on the psp so far. the only one that can compare is the new gba emu gpSP. I really hope NJ are going to emulate something like this with some other cool 16 - 64 Mbit systems :D Many thanx. this is what we all have been waiting for!!!
This emulator looks great, but everytime i load up a rom i get to the line "loading sprite cache" then the actvity light on my memory stick flashes and then stops, then my psp switches itself off. I'm using a UK 2.0 PSP with fanjitas 0.98 eloader if this helps. Any help with this would be great, this looks like an amazing emu!
Im using a version 2.5 psp. The 0.98 eloader. And when its loading the rom, it stops at loading cache sprite error and turns off. please someone explain why this happening.
