Basilisk II PSP Port test release 14 |
Ó
Developer J.F. has recently rolled out a new build of the Basilisk II port for the Sony PlayStation Portable. In case you weren't around previously, this application is a Mac open source emulator that allows you to run the the 680x0-based Apple Macintosh computer on your PSP. J.F. has added quite a number of updates in the last few builds, including the implementation of IR keyboard support and Memory Stick access, with the latter now running on AppleDouble format instead of B2. We remind the readers that this release is strictly for test purposes only - the dev expects that all who use this application are fully aware of what they're doing.
We've posted a brief rundown of the changes here. Those interested in the further details regarding this emulator, or want to report any experienced bugs, will want to visit J.F.'s release thread via the source link below.
- Test 10
- Add input mapping. There's nothing in the GUI for it at this time - you have to make them with a text editor and then copy them to the imaps directory in the B2 directory.
- I fixed a bug in the OSK where the Command key got stuck once you used it. It's why people reported that sometimes the OSK quit working - it was still working, but the CMD qualifier was stuck.
- I also added the ability to create blank floppies in the Create Hardfile sub-menu of the Volumes sub-menu. It makes a blank 1.44 MB file that you can then insert and format in the emulation from the Mac desktop.
- Test 11
- I made a minor change to the interpretation of the NOT SET field of the button map. It used to be any of the bits in the NOT SET field made it not match.
- Big change for this update is memstick access!! Now I don't have to put up with noobs whining about not being able to use HFVExplorer. The emulator will now mount the files directory in the B2 directory when enabled.
- Test 12
- Had a stupid goof in the new button code that (among other things) prevented you from naming a hardfile at format time. Also, once you enabled the memstick, it was on for life.
- Test 13
- Now uses AppleDouble format instead of B2 format on the memstick
- Also, directories can have finder info as well, so after running this on the memstick, you'll find "._files" in the main B2 directory. That is the AppleDouble file that holds the finder info for the main directory "files/". That is normal.
- Test 14
- IR keyboard support! At least if you're on 3.52 or older. I forgot Sony doesn't load IRDA.PRX in games anymore. I'll add code for that on the next version. Tested in 3.52 M33-4 with Targus and Palm keyboards.

Does this work on the slim?
I've used it before buy only using the basilisk and not the basilisk% folder. It worked in the GUI but then crashed when I tried to launch mac.
It works now, I just had to get a proper mac image.
Been following this for a while and its getting better and better :) I like it to play the Boulder Dash adaption Balderdoush
