Yaroze PSOne development program shutting down |
Ó
After 12 years, Sony is about to pull the plug on its Yaroze program, which made console development available to aspiring non-professionals. Through this service, subscribers received access to an online community, development software, as well as a very rare black PlayStation One console that allowed devs to run their own code on the system. But all is not lost. "We plan to make a copy of the site available for our original members," said SCEE's Paul Holman, adding that a get-together of sorts will be held for the development community.
The Net Yaroze project will effectively be canceled in July at a still unspecified date. At any rate, that black PSOne makes a very, very good souvenir.
They could also try Wiibrewing if they want console homebrew:

If they want to compete with the Iphone, Ipod touch, they should have an app store that lets people upload games that they have made themselves.
PSP CFW has inspired me to program and i hope that if they ever do do this they would make the psp even better and they'd make more money, because the iphone only has apps and simple games, but the psp has proper controls for good portable gaming and UMD's/Download eboot.pbp .
But if they had an appstore to host people's games more people would buy the psp than the iphone... well that's my opinion at least.

i guess most developers knows about yaroze.
i hope they'll make this one open source soon. xD
or at least make it available to the public.
@SolidSnake117
i bet they will soon once the psp go is release.
i don't think renting the psp sdk would be good on their side since it's very expensive. lol. so my best bet is that they will try and become like the itunes app store or something. xD

If I'd have known, I would've gotten one!

Note. If anyone was planning on converting these into PSP games(PS1 EMU) you'd also have to do the PAL to NTSC conversion thing.
