WildC*rd makes a stand: use of leaked source code |

Word from tipster EXTER had led us to an official statement by Team Wildcard - more officially branded as Team Wildc*rd - who in their own respects have done much for the PSP hhomebrew community. PSP homebrew developers and followers already know the story behind the custom firmware source code leak, but the release of such code had obvious ramifications: developers now had the opportunity to release rip-off CFWs as they saw fit.
"Out of respect to the devs that worked so hard on this source and also out of respect for Dark_AleX, Team Wildc*rd politely requested that this source be used for educational purposes only and not for public releases," said the representative from Team Wildcard. But this statement prompted the need to tackle PSPGen's Ketchup (theketchupman in QJ.NET's Forums) and his use of the code for his recent releases.
It's no secret to Wildcard that Ketchup took his code direct from their source code for his release, which brought significant concern to them. "It is not that we do not respect Ketchup's work; on the contrary, we were quite impressed with what he had achieved. What we do not wish however, is for the source to be used," claimed the team.
They would allow the reversal of code from their .prx binaries to be used, because after all, that was how they came up with their own custom firmware code. "We completely reversed DA's PRX's rather than using his direct source. ... Even though members of Team Wildcard wish to remain anonymous, there are members that know DA personally and we can assure you we have his blessings," added Wildcard.
Contrary to opposite beliefs, Team Wildcard never had aspirations to release the source code, but due to mischievous circumstances, they had to act. And perhaps because of these conflicting views, some developers will not adhere to Wildcard's sincere call. "We cannot force anyone to do whatever we want. ... We cannot force you not to, we can only ask for you to respect our wishes," responded Wildcard.
Nevertheless, Wildcard still hopes to avoid the release "ripped clones" of CFWs. "I believe we are respecting [Dark Alex'] wishes that way. [Ketchup] may release a recovery, only if it's based on our prx and not the source code," the representative concluded.

I havent upgraded my CFW since DAX's 3.10 OE. I was quite sad to hear he left cuz his was the best and everyone knew it so there wasnt any question of which CFW to get. Now that hes gone, we have these 2 other CFW's (not to say that they arent as good) but which ones better?
Point being:
Can we have an in depth comparison of the 2 CFWs so that people know which one to install on their psp's. Just give us a run down of the good bad and ugly of both and it might do some good for the community. Just a thought...

Firstly, dax reverse engineered sony's firmware, which guess wat, its illegal. He didn't release his sourse, cos it's illegal. The reverse engineer his firmware then ***** cos they release it and say pls don't use our hard work.
Second, there is no possible way to make ur "own" firmware cos in the end it has to be practical to sony's anyways, so stfu u stupid morons

Ok, I'm willing to admit my original analogy was slightly off, so here's the revision.
I continuously used my credit card in an unsafe manner, that defied common sense. In doing so my credit card information was compromised.
Then based on nothing more than an assumption (an educated assumption, but still an assumption), I decided to release my credit card information to the world, without any comment about who can or can not use it.
Then 10 days later, I decided to tell people that they can't use it.
I'm not the only one who sees how idiotic this was.
And yes the credit card analogy has one flaw. You can cancel your credit card, and the problem is solved, but the facts are there. They messed up, and where unintelligent about the way they handled it, and none of you kiss asses can handle it, so you have to come here and act all holier than thou.
And yes some of my replies may have been over the top, but it's only because I love watching the fat little nerds take it personally, and reply with their unintelligent nonsense. It amuses me when someone goes on about stupid people, while acting stupid.

Look, I told you to read their original statement and not qj' news version of it. Wildcard released the source AFTER the LAMERS released it. They didnt release it on the assumption that the LAMERS *would* release it. They released it AFTER, to stop people from going to their site. And another thing, you really really need to read more, Wildcard released this statement now because of the misconcptions people had regarding the source. They had already explained it but some devs (and noobs) still didnt understand, so they wrote this lengthy statement hoping they will now understand their stance since they didnt seem to understand the first time (like you dont seem to understand). And everyone here already knows who you are, so go back, qj dont want you here. And if you thought your comments actually meant anything why dont you go post in the forums where this statement is posted using a registered username (rather than cowardly hiding underneath anon comments).

I do a bit of scene devving, the first reply is so true here, I see all this going on and wonder if i can really be bothered, I'll just keep my brew for personal and close friends use, and anyone else who takes a keen interest.
Respect to all devs whoever they are, not everyones perfect, but having your source leaked is a *****.
I have no comments to make on "lamers" that breach the scene, they aren't worth the effort.
