Ó

Keep your salt grains ready, readers, as we report what looks like a new version of iR Shell under works. This floated to our attention earlier via a youtube posted by psp1477. The video demonstrated iR Shell running on the PSP's custom firmware 3.40 OE-A:

Still got that salt handy? We're not too sure if this was posted by Ahman, given that the dev has been out of the coding scene since last year - the last iR Shell version we've had was coincidentally from last Christmas. For the moment, we advise readers to keep alert in case we pick up more information on this new development. And of course - enjoy the video!

» sounds great

my IRShell already runs on 3.40 oe-a, but if there's a newer one, I'll be happy to try it out.

» Or maybe it is someone proving something

I've been using iR Shell on my 3.40 OE-A PSP since the custom firmware came out, makes me think this video was just someone proving something to someone else.

» eh

how did this fake made it to a news site?

by cuizable - 2007-05-10 18:49
» Did you notice?

This PSP is not a firmware 3.40 OE PSP..

Just watch the last two seconds..It seems like a 1.50..

I know irShell works both on those firmwares, but the title says it is a special version for 3.40 OE.. :)

Weird..

» ?

Is that a .wmv-file he opens in the end?

by Karl Marx - 2007-05-10 19:36
» That's what it does

He switched it into the 1.5 version of irshell (the version for cf's comes with 2 eboots). As far as irshell knows it is on 1.5, which is exactly what it's designed to do.

by Karl Marx - 2007-05-10 19:43
» Nope

It's a UMD

by DCJoeDog - 2007-05-10 19:55
» Huh?

Is he streaming a UMD video at the end or is it int he actual drive is what Ii want to know.

by AlianF - 2007-05-10 21:17
» A true version

It's true, I got it too, but it's an Insider's version. I dunno who's the coward that leeched this video, Ahman will be upset.

» Morons!!

Yeah iR shell works on 3.40 OE but did you morons forget that iso's can't be launched through ir Shell !!! Also you morons should have remembered that whenever we go launch xmb it'll crash all of you are morons !!

by Sevenz - 2007-05-11 00:25
» o.o

» UMD ISO

It seems the person is streaming and emulating a UMD video ISO file from the computer.

» so freakin cool!

OMG OMG OMG! It's like a dream come true!

There's so many things in this clip that proves this is a new update. Just look at the version number, 3.41se newest version on the homepage is 3.1 So it can't be fake.

Can't wait for this to be released!

by rob - 2007-05-11 03:15
» called editing

could have just edited the version title...would be sweet if its true though, but just seems so unlikely

by Loonix - 2007-05-11 03:43
» You are right

You are right, all the network thingis are missing.

no webbrowser, no remote play...

This looks fishi ^^

» .

Did anyone notice when he clicked game it kicked out automatically on both game and pops, and the fact that he loaded an ISO which Ahman never implemented, remember the ISO loader version some idiot made, pissed him off. Not to mention if you look closely after he exits the ISO game he is in a completely different folder with no ISO in it. Definetely claim fake on this.

by AkiraPsychic - 2007-05-11 03:50
» .

I meant exit when I said game first if that is confusing -.-

by MozyMan - 2007-05-11 03:59
» ???

I dunno, looks real enough, dat iso nd psx game seemed 2 b runnin fairly well to b streaming ova da wifi dow...

by shrimpdude - 2007-05-11 04:33
» Looks pretty good to me.

You can't currently run user-mode irShell in 3.40OE-A with what's publicly released. The user mode version allows ISO booting, and booting PS1 games. You can't do that with 1.5 irShell.

Of course it's 1.5 in the end.

Did you not see the REBOOT TO 1.5 VERSION he pushed when he restarted irshell?! *****, you people are dense. You need to switch to the 1.5 kernel irShell to run 1.5 homebrew.

» Wtf

WTF is Irshell?

by wierdo - 2007-05-11 08:55

» .

He is at 3.40 mode when he launches the POPS

by jrfhoutx - 2007-05-11 10:00
» ...

you obviously never used iRShell for 2.71SE... there was a plugin that launched ISOs (made by StoneCut), and that version never crashed when exiting to the XMB... now what was that you were saying about morons?...

by nuclear j - 2007-05-11 11:30
» wait and see

Well we'll find out sooner or later. Hopefully sooner than later though!

Who doesn't care abou this app? I admire Ahman's delvoping skills and am not trying to be rude; just asking a question.

» interesting

by ninja - 2007-05-12 01:35
» yaaa

by Clever Devil - 2007-05-12 01:46
» jrf....some stupid name

Hey you jrf something did'nt you see i said launch xmb not exit to xmb.........You're a real darn stupid ass idiot that's like a moron..........

by Smiter - 2007-05-12 16:27
» you must be like 11 years old.

you sure are acting immaturely, and you can launch xmb within irshell on custom firmwares yuo need 1.50 devhook folder with the dump or some ***** like that, and when you select launch xmb it will bring you into a devhooked 1.50 xmb. put that in your monosyllabic vocabulary and smoke it.

» irshell

which irshell is working for u all on 3.40 OE-A?

by Jumpin Jehosaphat - 2007-05-19 12:20
» Be good when this one comes out...

If this is ever released to the public, just keep this in mind... iR Shell closed its doors last time not because AhMan was tired of coding, he was tired of the nonstop complaining. Someone was bold enough to march into the forms and call iR Shell obsolete because AhMan didn't upgrade to the latest OE a few days after it came out, That idiot suggested that we just shut down the forums so we wouldn't be misleading people. And we did.

iR Shell didn't go away for any reason other than ingratitude, so if AhMan is nice enough to release this one, don't cause him any undue grief.

by iwantanimac - 2007-05-19 14:29
» Holy hell, a lot of idiots here, eh?

I think this would be awesome. If a 3.xx version was released, that would mean i could use nethost with my WPA-PSK network. I'm fine with IR shell the way it is, but this would be so much better.

To those of you asking "What is IR shell? What's it do?" where have you been for the past few years? Seriously.

Awesome news if it's true.
