Right before April ended, we shared with you a demo of homebrew game Vertex 3D Car v0.1b. Even though the project is still a WIP, we have to say that it really is looking great and the team of Vertex Origin is doing an excellent job. QJ.Net Forums mainstay theketchupman dropped by today and discussed new information regarding the game.

According to him, the game will be known as Vertex Racing once it's released. Speaking of which, the Vertex Origin team has still to pinpoint a concrete release date for their much-anticipated creation. It's good to know though that development is going along nicely. Some new features added include:
  • Code improvements and totally re-organized
  • Collisions detections support finished (will certainly need some improvements)
  • Light environment improved
  • Multiple car's display routine improved
  • Multiplayer support has been started
  • HUD Display will be finished soon (started too)
The following will also be incorporated to Vertex Racing once it comes out:
  • tracks and car's loading at runtime
  • Car's physics engine (Jumps, skids, etc)
  • Collisions physics engine (determining the consequence of a collision)
  • Finish the multiplayer support (ad-hoc and Infrastructure) + Unix Daemon Development for server's side (American and French servers will be available at the beginning)
  • Sound and music support
  • Cars customization tools
  • Track Maker

Nice job ya'll! These are some damn good graphics for a homebrew, the car especially. Hopefully, the graphics will get even better. I will definitely download this when the final version is released.

» Sweet-Looking

A 3D homebrew racer? For some reason, I feel like supporting the hell out of it. I think it will be a successful little game if the developers keep it up. I'm happy to see the continuing and constantly evolving homebrew gaming scene for the PSP.
