*UPDATE* Harleyg to stop developing for 0x89 |
Thanks to PSPJunkie for the word on this bit of news.Developer harleyg has decided to stop working on the 0x89 project because of the recent release of 2.71SE-B by Dark_Alex and (in his opinion) the lack of interest int he 0x89 project. Don't fret though, the project will still continue thanks to Zettablade and some other volunteers.
Here's harleyg's pertinent post in the 0x89 Development forums:
In light of recent events, such as Alex's custom firmware etc, I have
come to the conclusion that my interest in this project has waned, I
have next to no input into the actual coding these days and I have been
busy in real-life, therefore I would like to move onto other projects
etc. Most of the stuff we were aiming for in 0x89 has been done in 2.71
SE, apart from the GUI change etc... If the rest of the team decide to
carry on I am cool with that, I will keep domain and forum going etc.
If any of you need a hand etc. Just let me know.
I can not seem
to refund paypal donations to me for 0x89 as it deducts x amount every
donation and therefore I haven't enough to refund.
PSPTouchME will carry on as planned I guess... we will work at our own pace.

Well harleyg, we here at QJ respect your decision. Real-life does have a certain weight to it, when it comes to priorities and such. Just be sure to clear up all those paypal donations issues, as people (haters/flamers/trolls most especially) will be curious about that. More power to you, and good luck on your future endeavors!
UPDATE: The dude got flamed for all the PayPal issues but he's not gonna sit around and take those comments sitting down - he's actually gonna do something about it; in fact, he already did. harleyg posts in the QJ forums that he has just refunded all the donations he has received. And he clarifies that he never asked for donations. He ends the forum post with, "Now, can I get on without being called a scammer?" I don't know about you, but we here at QJ thinks he does deserve to be granted that request... Check out harleyg's statement over at the QJ forums.

With the paypal refund, I know what he is talking about, but it is just bad wording on their part. Since paypal takes a cut of all money transferred using their services, the amount he has in his account would be less than the actual donations, HOWEVER, when you issue a refund, paypal also refunds what it has taken out, so it works out fine. If someone could pass this on to him, I'm sure many donators would appreciate it.

what a bullsh*ter.... you click the transaction details and at the very bottom, there is a button that says refund. The refund button will reverse the transaction with no fees whatsoever. So the conclusion is, never donate until you get the real thing.

I was really looking forward to this, especially the video player. I hate doing the stupid conversion to MP4. I hope the rest of the team keeps working on it, and I could care less about my donation as I am using his custom firmware already.

there is way more to making a custom firmware than just some coding skills. hell, they never even stated what they're coding in. Its not some f*cking windows xp setup... 0x89 was never gonna happen. nuff said! nuff said.

Harleyg is nothing more than a scammer who wants people to donate money when he knew that he wasn't going to finish any project that he started. He purposely scammed people out of their money so that he can stop working on the project and rake in the cash. WHAT A F UCKEN LOSER YOU ARE HARLEYG!
Tbh you all seem to be quite het up over the donations affair, for what was I believe a total of 4-5 donations.... I hope he enjoys his KFC bucket. In all seriousness though, there was some mix-up as to how the donations refund process works, as it seemed to be taking a percentage for performing the refund transaction. As soon as it was explained to Harley he did something about it as you can see from the update to this article.

why convert to mp4? pmpmod avc is so much better forget that 320X200 (or whatever it is) 480X272 AVC rocks. or try pimpstreamer / pmpvlc as they both stream video without recoding first.

This post is a compliment and not a flame but if you are telling the truth about the $12, the facts in the article skewed this out of proportion. So if you are telling the truth, the article is to blame for the flames (hey that rhymed!) Let me provide examples. 1. The article said "I can not seem to refund paypal donations to me for 0x89 as it deducts x amount every donation and therefore I haven't enough to refund.". If it was $12 dollars then what was the problem? I hope that would not put you out on the streets... plus when you refund, it gives the x amount back also. 2. You say you didn't ask for donations but people got a hold of your paypal info somehow.. But really, you deserve a pat on the back because when I first read this article, it reminded me when Yoshi had enough donations to buy a new psp plus more and he left his so called project with the good.
