"And It's The End..." In his blog TeamOverload has announced that he's quit devving for the PSP. He has lost interest in it over the past few months. It no longer excites him as it used to. There seems to be a kicker, though, something that made him finally decide to discontinue PSP dev work. "The PSP has had its triumphs, but also its tragedies."
One "tragedy" he's talking about, the one he really highlights, is when he read about the flak that fellow dev harleyg had to fly through because of PayPal donations. "It is ridiculous how immature people act sometimes." The thankless work that devving sometimes is... "I will continue to use my PSP and visit QJ [thanks, TeamOverload], but all deving work and research for me, is pretty much finished."
It's so sad to see you go after all you've done, and we applaud the sympathy you've shown for harleyg. On behalf of QJ, thanks for everything you've done for the 'brew community, dude, and may you have fair winds and a full charge in your PSP wherever you may go from here.

Flamers won't learn. What needs to be done is for QJ to start cracking down on the people that make stupid, abusive posts and ban them permanently. Make this site sign-up only like it used to be and get the riff-raff out of here.
yes lets crack down on all the negative comments. hmmm. sounds like nazism to me. there is a thing called freedom of speech in america (where qj is located) and who is to say what is ok and what is not. when u release a homebrew you should be able to receive any kind of criticism whether it be constructive or not. same principal applies for someone saying they're quiting the scene and then stating 'having issues with refunds'. not everyone has the same point of view when it comes to things. this is a journal for users to post their opinions. if you don't like the negative comments go elsewhere. try ps2nfo. their nazism policies will fall in line nicely with your ideals. this site is for everyone...not just people who think like you.
now that that is out of the way. teamoverload you will be missed. you have done great things for the psp scene. hopefully you will consider a return at a later time. good luck in your future endeavors.

Buy a damned GP2X and stop whining, that's what. Between Sony trying to force homebrew to be non-functional and the homebrew scene not having any backbone, it's hard to see how this platform's "scene" will last past a couple more years.

Big whoop..sheesh...not a big loss. Same with HarleyG. 0okm was a big loss, if Fanjita quit THAT would be a big loss, but not these people. And I guarantee that TeamOverload will come back to the scene like he always does. I'm not saying I agree with HarleyG being flamed, and I agree that PSP is starting to lose popularity, but I don't' think that every time that a dev quits they need to make a deal about it and devote a whole article to it. All it takes is a couple of immature kids on a blog to have Devs leaving the scene? As much as I appreciate all of the hard work they put in, I can't help but think they need to have a ''thicker'' skin if they are so easily upset. The internet is full of idiots and flammers but amongst these are some intelligent and appreciative people. One should ignore all fools giving them no response and just concentrate on the positive. Team Overload sounds like he planned to leave either way, I don't know why they always add ''spin'' onto the reason why.

strangler, great the ds will be around so you'll have something to play when your tired of air jackin the wiimote on the gamecube 2's antiqated graphics and niche gameplay. hopefully this time they won't be a distant third this time but you'll eventually be *****in about being nickled and dimed on 20 yr old games due to the lack of any signifcant 3rd party(stripped down tony hawk,gimmick madden). Ds will still be selling then because the wiimote cost 60 bucks a pop with the analog and god knows how much the other peripherals parents won't want to shill out for each child of the house.
I was considering to by one but the nyc press party was a major letdown. the games overall felt like tech demo or glorified eye toy games that are tiring enjoyment wise before pyshically.i wait till it drops in price , there more interesting games, and zelda and mario superstar are players choice
Enough with fanboy posting it in every forum. Some of us own both and perfer hombrew on a better screen with great multimeadia capabilities built in, and easier interfacing to computers. I could use my 2gb MS card or buy a sd interface gameboyvideo cart that looks like sh*t and cost $20 buck. oh yeah I have to spend hour converting it into a compatible format or just go to an rss channel on my psp and download it directly on the system in the popular mp4.

fact is the psp homebrew communty always sucked if you compare it to the xbox/dreamcast/pc communities. Heck emulators and a few games like linky's quest and super mario war are the only good thing, while the pc has thousands of homebrew games that are so good psp devs are tunring them into real psp games (think every extended extra as an example). You people thought the psp scene was good cause you probably were only comparing it to a crappy system's scene like the gizmodos, but when you compare it to the big boys just like when you compare its official games to the big boys (consoles) it lacks.

Although TeamOverlord may not have been the best dev and lacked the groveling modesty people seem to expect from coders, I think it's safe to say that any dev leaving is a loss. Remember, these people owe us squat. They're sacrificing their *real time* which they could (should?) spend elsewhere.

As a dev in a previous life, i can tell you i never did anything for anyone but ME.
every program and every app i wrote for ME, for the satisfaction of just being able to do it and the enjoyment of using it for myself, knowing i'd written it.
If others used and liked my stuff great, if the didn't, so what i hadn't written it for them any way.
So flammers never bothered me and most devs who do it for themselves, like it did feel the same, but there are some devs who do it for the kudos, and when they get flammed it hurts them because they are doing it for you to tell them how great they are.
This guy was not a dev, he just wanted you all to tell him how he was, because if he enjoyed being a dev, he'd stick at it regardless, of what a few 10 years said.
If you want to reverse-engineer the PSP registry and font formats and write the software to edit and patch it, go right ahead. Not that TeamOverload had *anything* to do with *any* of that, but that's not the point. You could NEVER recreate the font hack.
The homebrew scene is dieing more and more everyday but more people are leaving. Good thing more are just joining :)

Aside from upgrading his PSP to the latest fw's and laming around, the only achivement was to post comments on what others have found and lame around to make 2.8 homebrew for him.
i mean. theres so much steps to take to enjoy a dumb game! In new games you have to use a overclocking module to play wifi. Then you need SEB''. I bet there are much more burdensome tasks! Wow, I have most of these, and i want to upgrade to escape it all and have a clean 4 GB memory stick!

Font hack was been done by freeplay and anoter guy(i can't remember his name)
Harleyg is awesome. His mod saved my friend's PSP from bricking from a downgrade. If it bricked, it would've been my fault. So, I'd say harleyg is much cared for, and gets more respect than you could ever hope to attain.
On another note, if we flame flamers, then that makes us the same as them. Freedom of speech is in the law, but it does have its loopholes as well. For instance, one can't shout "EARTHQUAKE!!!" just to see what people's responses are.
One thing I noticed, PSP 'brewers never start the PSP/DS homebrew arguement. DS people just HAVE to say how much BETTER they [think they] are. I used to be in favor of the DS, before I knew about homebrew. Afterwards, I noticed I would've become one of you; jealous for attention, and always wanting to be right. We PSP-ers don't need that sort of satisfaction because we already know that PSP homebrew completely overshadows DS homebrew.
You start the fight, we'll finish it.
If you think of it one way, Sony itself may be the ones flaming all the devs. They might have figured if they wanted them to leave, giving bad feedback and making all of us homebrewers look like a lot of thankless ungrateful idiot flamers, the devs would get tired of producing goods for the bads.

HarleyG was an *****, simply put. My friend, MindlessManiac and I attempted to make a module that would flash the PSP's NAND Flash meory, and he sat there and flamed us, calling us scammers, and quacks the whole way through.
Mindless and I finally extracted and flashed the NAND Chip, only to find out that it was useless, since in order to have the newly flashed chip worked, you would have to flash a bootstrap chip. This might have been alright, if flashing the NAND wasn't so difficult. When we finally used up all of our ideas, there was no way we could make a module that would simply, affordably, and effectivly reflash your PSP's firmware, so we stopped the development.
I am glad HarleyG has left, there is no need for people like him in any development scene. We need developers who facilitate newcomers, instead of trashing them.
