Team M33 makes us wait no more: CFW v3.71 released |

The wait is finally over guys (although it really wasn't that long, after all, thank goodness)! The much coveted Team M33 PSP v3.71 CFW is finally here! Now, according to this wonder-team, this will be their "last but one release". Not to worry though, cause there certainly seems to be a lot more good things just waiting in line to happen.
Quoting directly from the Team M33 site, so it'll be clear just what you guys should expect in the future, "... it will be released a Slim&Fat Unbricker, and a 1.50 kernel patch." Exciting, eh? But of course, what's even more exciting is the actual release of Team M33 PSP 3.71 CFW. Yeah, so we did get worried that they wouldn't release it yet. But apparently, they just can't keep from making us happy.
And without further ado, here's the changelog for CFW 3.71:
- Now uses 3.71
- VSH Menu is not longer launched using HOME key, but using SELECT now. This is to not interfere with the XMB function of home, which is now more useful in this firmware.
- Psp Slim: umdcache was allocating memory even when homebrew was launched, wasting memory that homebrew programs may want to use. Now umdcache module is stopped before it can allocate any memory, only in the case homebrew is launched.
- Also, memory is unprotected for user memory usage by M33 core (only when homebrew is launched).
- Developer, for a sample of how to use the extra memory, see the extra ram sample of the M33 sdk.
- Both version boot now from 3.XX ipl, and are independent of 1.50.
- The main installer will not install 1.50 kernel anymore.
- A 1.50 kernel addon for 3.71 M33 that will install inside 3.71 M33 will be released in a few days (for fat only)
- due to some changes in kernel nids by Sony, you can expect a lot of kernel plugins not working anymore.
- Programmers: refer to the sdk readme for details.
- First method for both psp, the preferred when possible:
- Requeriments: a fat psp slim with 3.52 M33-3 or 3.52 M33-4. Previous versions of M33 won't work, due to a bug that affects them and OE; or a psp slim with 3.60 M33.
- Copy the UPDATE directory into /PSP/GAME/UPDATE and copy the EBOOT.PBP of the 3.71 Sony updater there but with name "371.PBP". Note: the program will not even show if you copy it to a different folder than that.
- If you are in the fat psp, make sure you have configured the psp to run the game folder in the 3.XX kernel.
- Press X, and the Sony updater will begin. Sit and enjoy while Sony code installs 3.71 M33
- When finished, the updater will ask you to reboot (pressing X or O). DO IT. Do not skip this step shutting down the psp by yourself, or you'll end with a brick.
- You should be now in 3.71 M33
Oh, and this ought to be a bigger treat for you guys. Good ol' Dark_AleX just confirmed himself that he is, in fact, M33. You all got us there, mate! Good job!

That's because it installs the full 3.71 firmware.

I'm installing with 3.52M33-4, yet it says I need to be running 3.52M3-3 and above. What's happening? I'm in 3.XX kernel.
Should have sed before but i really did.
I was having that same problem, but I changed it to 3.52kernel and worked like a charm. double check. just in case

you need to update to 3.52 m33 first since the installer uses the 3.52 kernel.
Actually, we've known this for quite a while. It wasn't immediately posted because we weren't sure if DA really wanted this info out there. Just trying to respect the devs before jumping on a bandwagon - other sites should consider doing the same. ;)
this is great news that DAX was M33. but.. that only means we'll have to say goodbye to him again. he says after he lets out the 2 other things, that will be it
great job, but isn't this basically an official firmware for PSP-1000 users? Because now hardly any homebrew is supported(well the ones I use) Guess I will have to wait for their update in a couple of days...

You can still run PSX Rips/Pirated Copies and ISO Rips/Pirated Copies.
You can use Pandora. Oh wait... not on the slim yet.

1. So if I'm reading this right, this version of M33 (or I guess OE, really, but yeah) doesn't support 1.50 apps on the fat by default? Couldn't the installer just check this when you run it and install the core then? Seems a bit cheap, really - the overwhelming majority of PSP users are the ones having to go through trouble to get everything working right this time around. 2. Dark_AleX is M33, eh? Hah! I suppose I'm not surprised, really, since there were a few clues to suggest it. Cool stuff, though, and well played!

how can i get back to 3.60 M33 from this buggy 3.71 CFW??? It's freeze at recovery. andt it's not compatible with any of my HB's and plugins!

So if I do this update now then all of my homebrew emulators (98%) require 1.5 wont work anymore? Thats pretty much mainstay on my psp these days, I will definately wait until the 1.5 addon is released. They said it will be out soon but I have seen soon turn into months, gotta have my retro gaming morso than enything!

C'mon Freeplay, I *know* you're smarter than that. For one, its pretty obvious if you think about it. Secondly, you know that there were a handful of people (devs and such) who were in on the secret. They can't keep a custom firmware from leaking, you think that the fact that M33 + DA isn't gonna make it outside a circle of friends. The idea that this information was completely unknown until DA decided to "exclusively" (LOL) tell MC is absurd. Like I said, out of respect, we kept this info to ourselves. (And you've still got my IM, if you want to you can hit me up and I'll show you the logs) :)

Its showsM33 menu>configuration>Game folder hombrew (currenly 3.71 or 1.50? that means it can runs 1.50 or not!? may be not... may be its only for the Game folder and thats it! ??? Well cu'z I was testing some of the popular plugins but none of then seems to work! Actually the CFW expander plugin doesn't work at all U enable and when u exit out of recovery menu , u will heard the PSP UMD drive reading, the screen black and then the PSP will shut off on instant, U turn on and the same U have to take out the ms so the PSP doesnt read the sepplugin>cfe stuff and then PSP will turn on normal! If u want to to disable just put it back and turn on psp on recovery menu to disable the pluguins and then the PSP will be normal again! But this plugs doesn't work with this new version! I wonder if the PSP-1000 e loader runs the most of the 1.50 home brews on the fat PSP, since theres no kernel 1.50! but we'll see that tomorrow or the next day the plugins! Oh well Thanks! Again!!! DA and M33!!

1. Great release, glad to know you weren't really gone. 2. YOU CAN RUN HOMEBREW, GET THE ELOADER 1.0 APP, IT RUNS HOMEBREW SEEMLESSLY. 3. Hopefully Team AoP is DAX, but I don't think he'd pull the same stunt twice. I think he'll be back, but not like that.

as of now, here's my only hint: seeing as the psp slim is less than a month old, you are still under the exchange period. So here's what you do: 1. Re-package your PSP 2. Find your receipt 3. Go to walmart or where ever you got it from, and exchange your PSP. 4. Go to http://stores.ebay.com/PSP-Unbricker and tell them that "youarepwned" sent you. 5. Wait a little under a week. 6. Check your mailbox for your pandora kit. 7. All done! Leave him some good feedback for a job well done :D
psx games work and other stuff but the seplugins stuff doesn't seem to work in 3.71 m33. CWCheat does nothing at all. Wish I could go back to 3.6 but I've heard the CWCheat guy is working on it anyway (to make it work on 3.71)
if you turn your kxploited eboots back into 1.0 eboots (really simple using pspbrew) then just about anything e-loader will run... will run directly from the xmb.
You have a PSP-2000, so if you want to, just wait until DAX releases pandora with slim support.

I tried 3.71 M33, and it works, then I used pandora's battery to came back to 1.5 and then to 3.52 M33-4 (I need Homebrew support), and perfect. Here is my question: When I try to install 3.71 M33, the installer says than the Idstorage is corrupted, So I press X and it fixes, then I cancell the instalation with R. turn off the psp, try to go to the recovery menu, and... the psp its bricked (????) (well, it was, pandora's reflash it) So, what happened with the Idstorage?, why it brick my PSP? Gracias a Dark_Alex y al equipo Noobz por su contribución a la SCENE, Mis respetos.

I'm in the same boat as most other folks when I say that I'm not exactly fussed about 3.71 M33. My main annoyance is the lack of 1.50 kernal support, wouldn't it have been a better idea for M33 (DAX) to have patched it first, then release the CFW in full working order. Furthermore, I'm kinda pissed that most of the plugins aren't going to work anymore; hopefully either PiKey or 3.71 M33 will have been patched before I decide to get an IR keyboard... I guess I can't really complain though, I really wouldn't have any idea how hard doing all this firmware coding must be, not to mention how great M33 have been with their time restraints so far. Hopefully the 1.50 kernel patch we've been promised won't take too long to come out anyhow; after all the firmware itself was meant to have been a few days away from now, let's just hope the patch comes together as quick! ps. Can't wait for the Custom Theme Maker to be released! Not to mention DAX's universal Pandora battery!!

I don't get something... DAX is Spanish.. how did he get the readme's in Russian? (Yes, he might have some Russian friends, but would they translate everything for him, and even the forum on the M33 website? Sounds like a conspiracy to me O_o) Anyways, nice work to M33 (as I still have my doubts on them being DAX, hahaha :-D)
M33 was labelled as a Russian team. Their releases came with readme's in English and Russian. Their website hosted a forum that was in Russian, and it was hosted on a Russian domain (.ru). How would DAX be able to pull all this off? (Bearing in mind he's a Spaniard) Some things don't add up. I know there are many similarities between DAX's and M33's releases (such as the way you install it, and the recovery menu), but it seems as there's something more to it than what they're telling us. They're up to something.
There are also a few weird things that make all these DAX is M33 theories odd. On the M33 website, there are a few donation links, like PayPal but then there is the Russian link... Well I guess DAX has really bluffed us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, how am I a bot? I'm a customer of the anti brick dude, and he helped make my pandora kit. I couldn't find anyone with a 1.50 psp, so he made mine. Thus, I'm trying to help him out by getting him some business as a little thank you. Also, please ignore my previous comment about w00ting for 3.71 M33. It turns out that m33 3.52 is loads better, as you can use it for purposes OTHER than piracy. I mean, all m33 3.72 is an official firmware with the ability to run ISOs. And frankly, I hate piracy. So m33 3.52 FTW! Of course, once the little 1.50 plug in comes, maybe then I'll like 3.72 m33 :D

Dude, it's not my $@#% auction! It's some random guy I've never met before! I did his service because I couldn't find a homebrew compatible PSP! I knew it's free, but I couldn't get a hold of any homebrew PSPs. The guy gives bonuses if you refer people to him, so that's why I'm promoting him. This is a free country, I can tell people to try his auction if I want! It's thanks to him that I have a homebrew PSP! If it wasn't for him, I'd still not be able to play emulators (for games that i own the originals to). I *would* be offering this service myself, buy unfortunately, I'm not sure how to do it, and even though he offered to teach me, I decided not to risk other peoples' PSPs. So, whatever, if you need a pandora kit, buy that guy's auction, and tell him "youarepwned" sent you.

I'll be pretty pumped for 1.50 that plugin hits... It seems that all of the apps I like are 1.50 (liteMP3, USB-SSS, etc.)... It's a good job though - DA's done himself proud again. --Databoy2k
I recommend 3.52 M33-4, the 1.5 Homebrew and the plugins work. You can go directly to 3.52 M33, and then to 3.52 M33-4, with a simple update. Its very easy, just follow the readme. You can not go to 3.60 M33 because you have a fat PSP, not a PSP-2000, 3.60 is just for slim. DAX says 3.60 for slim is a copy of 3.5X. So you don't miss anything new. I tried 3.71, and recommend to stay 3.52 M33-4 and wait for DAX's 1.5 kernel solution

I think you give FreePlay too much credit when you say you know he's smarter than that. Fact: FreePlay was one of the first people to insult team M33, using racist comments.
That's why the PSP slim sucks. It's also a fragile plastic POS. Almost no metal inside whatsoever!
I had my old psp fat on 3.52 m33-4, with my own custom theme running off cxmb(in preparation for my slim), and now I am on this sh*t, and I can't use any themes, the flash0 has all of these new rco's that rcoeditor wont edit, and none of my plugins(including cxmb) work!!!

I first upgrated to this CFW and then it all work just fine! The next mornig when I turn on my PSP and go to the browser hit scan and it said internal error (00000000001) and then I ask myself! Why this happen I didn't fell the PSP on ground or any other part! So what did I did wrong ? Then I tried to use the RECOVERY boot ( from 2.71SE , that also work with all CFW except 3.71M33) and didn't work! So then I use Pandora's umbricker and it work just fine! Then I update again to 3.52 M33 and now it connects to the internet without internal error ! So I upgraded the PSP CFW 3.52M33-4 to 3.71M33 again! It works just fin conect to wifi etc! Ok so I wake up next day and turn on PSP and go browser and its said again internal error, but the led keep working, so I figure out that this malfuncion was thanks to this NEW CFW 3.71!!!!! Well ! tHE HING IS THAT i PUT 3.71M33 ON MY PSP AND THEN THE NEXT DAY OR FEW HOURS THE WIFI CONECT TO BROWSER SAYS "INTERNAL ERROR" SO if somebody out there got a PSP that this happens with this CFW 3.71! this malfunction! Tell me please ! So i know that my PSP its not the only one with problem when I put this CFW(3.71) I mean I go back to 3.52M33-4 and works perfect no more internal ERROR! But with this new CFW it happens, all the time!! SO please and thanks!

Somebody have to say something! I mean, this supose to be the newest CFW ,but, its a little crappy tough! 1.Doesn't run 1.50 homebrews! 2.Its not compatible with any or most of the homebrews out there . 3. It makes PSP TA-82 wi fi useless with this CFW 3.71M33 after u used first day the next day the PSP will be internal error if u try to use scan on browser! ( but even the green led blinks it doesn't work, unless u downgrade and put back other fw or CFW before 3.71M33(like 3.52M33-4). 4.It doesn't take the customs themes alredy made! 5.Its not well develop as other CFW before.(like 3.52M33) 6.It have Bugs, that make PSP slower, freeze, doesnt run plugins etc! Its not well develop as older CFW (like 3.52M33-4) , because it use the sony updater and that may be creates bugs on the CFW alredy installed! (like wifi-useless on this CFW 3.71M33) On 3.52M33 (with patch 4 too) It work perfectly everything in his space nothing giving problems and disorders! but "no" , to make CFW easy for develop lets just put the Sony updater ! And some stuff mess up !! So Team M33 and Dark Alex if u read this POST Please re-make or at least make any patch to fix this problem of running this CFW on the PSP TA-82 and the wifi becomes useless! I'm kind of new with this and I don't want to be an annoying noob. I upgraded my firmware to 3.71 m33 on my fat psp and now all my homebrew games don't work (Daedulus, UAE-PSP, Snes9x & Scummvm), i can get an error message (ISO work fine though). I wanted to cry because I spent weeks collecting games and emulators and now I can't play any of them. I assume this is because the 1.50 kernel is not compatible with the 3.71 M33 firmware and I have to wait for a patch (pls correct me if I'm wrong). If M33 are unable to create a patch and the worse comes to the worse, could you be so kind to let me know how I can downgrade the CFW 3.71 back to CFW 3.52-4? I noticed you did it, but it was all Chinese to me - is there an easier way of doing it without using Pandora's umbricker? If there isn't, can you give me idiot proof instructions to using Pandorra's unbricker? Hate to be a pain ..... but I'm dying without my homebrew games and I'm too impatient to see if a kernal 1.50 will come out.
Hay dude just download the 3.52m33 custom firmware make the m33 installer using sony 1.50 and 3.52 eboots(there is a reedme in the 3.52m33 download) then run the installer as usual and then run the 3.52-4 update patch. with custom firmwares you can jump between them(upgrade or downgrade) by just installing the one you want. no pandora or umd exploit needed, pandora and other downgrade exploits are only if you are on sony official firmwares. Well here I got some UPDATES for the "New CFW 3.71 M33": In the last comment that I post, I wrote a lot of reasons and bugs that the "New CFW 3.71 M33" brings to an PSP unit! Now I got some more! Here: 1.When U go to flash 0 u suppose to c all folders that are there rigth? Well... Don' be so sure because When u enter to the flash 0 theres no Kn & kd, well they're not visible even if u put show hidden folders, I tried on few pc's and the same in both! So the only way u can see a directory like kd , u have to type the direction on the browser line ex: F:\kd, type that and u should see the content of the kd folder but inside of it u wouldn't see all files U will see a few of them but when u copy an prx file that u expect is no there it is there its just invisible! So what kind of trap is this an sony trap to fool us or some error of psp CFW version? Theres no kn folder its not invisible because u type F:kn and its shows the path can not be found or doesn't exist! So it doesn't exist ! ( or sony move them to other place) The thing is that this version its not well develop like older ones ( like 3.52M33) ! 2. Again with the wifi- internal error ! Even with this "internalk error " I had a connection already done it from the day I install the CFW 3.71 for third time! And the next morning I turn on My PSP and scan on browser and it show Internal error with the green light blinking, so I thought when A wifi card is damege its when the light doesn't blink! And it was true the wifi card wasn't damage! I used the already done connection on PSP and The PSP conect to the Internet perfectly! So I check again scan and internal error I check my conection it conects! I turn off psp and go scan and it scan ! At last but this doesn't supose to be like that its when the PSP wants to scan or its when I want!? Well this version controls itself to the failure! The wifi scan internal error its an runtime error on the PSP thanks to this CFW 3.71! It occur when PSP its off for extended period and then u turn on in the next day go scan on browser and internal error even if the wifi card its fine!! That means its the CFW 3.71 M33 what its wrong! Not the PSP, not the wifi card! Because when I am on 3.52 M33-4 the scan on browse works fine, even if is off all the eternity!! Nothing bad happens to it! Because that CFW was well developed ! The CFW 3.71 it wasn't! By the way my PSP its an Ta-82! But it has all of registry and ID STORAGE fine! SO its not the PSP its the CFW 3.71M33! 3. The other thing its the select button it supose to be the VHS menu right?! Well sometimes it doesnt want to show! Its not my fault its CFW 3.71 M33 Fault!! By the way, My PSP its fine , running 3.52m33-4 ! But when it runs this CFW 3.71 M33 ( actually installed for more investigation of it!) it runs bad ! I even installed the CFW 3.52M33 from pandora's Box extended version!For correct by my own the ID storage and other bugs or prob that can be on when downgrade to 1.50! So I installed the CFW 3.52 M33 from pandora ext. version! And it work then I patch and then Installed this CFW 3.71 M33! But it doesn't show the Id storage problem for downgrading! GOOD! But the scan internal error at the next day again! It work perfect the first day u install this but the second day... Try to scan from instaly turning your PSP on and U will see "internal error" ( even if your PSP's Wifi card its fine! SO its an error of the CFW 3.71! 9 WELL i CAN SAY ITS FOR psp TA-82) But it can be fixed!? Don't know! Just M33 and Dark Alex ( which its still the same guy) just review your CFW 3.71 and fix any of this Problems! Well: Zedstar If u dont' want to use the Pandora's box, U can't downgrade! my psp got stuck on 99% while upgrading, i dont know what to do please someone help me.
i installed 3.71 m33 flawlessly without problems, and tried some themes from sony - and installed his 1.50 patch...then i tried to replace the wave of the xmb, and it semi-bricked. got to the recovery menu and tried the "format flash1 and restore settings"-nothing happened. before this i tried to go to the flash0 but it wouldn't let me, it just kept on sending me to the memorystick, i finally got to flash0 and put in the original wave and it worked. the problem is everytime i want to install the official sony themes it gives me an error= An internal error has occured (80108351) and everytime i set a picture as a wallpaper and then reboot, the wallpaper is gone and is set to the monthly BG...Do yall have suggstions?i'm thinking about going back to 1.50 then 3.52 3 M33 then back up to 3.71 M33-which i have no clue how to do
