Jpdeathblade has just released a video which shows his Xp Max team's work in progress: the second version of Super Mini Halo. The vid is basically a beta test of Level 11 of the homebrew game. Even though the PSP in the video has a bit of glare, we can still see how much progress they've made. Graphics are smoother now for the sprite-based side-scroller.

We're not sure when they will release the final build of Super Mini Halo v2, but Jpdeathblade says that they're aiming for a total of 50 levels to play in. He didn't mention though how far they are now. Although the video shows Level 11, that doesn't necessarily mean that that's only as far as they've accomplished. Maybe that's just the level they chose for the vid.

Regardless, Jpdeathblade promises to bring us more updates as well as more videos in the future. We'll keep you posted as soon as they drop in.

nice waves

this game may not look good compared to other homebrew (no gravity anyone?), but it is still a very enjoyable and promising game. dont shoot down developers, cause they are what keeps the psp alive
by thyvillageidiot - 2007-03-13 21:30:17
yea

don't badmouth devs, bad mouth qj for posting on each beta release and youtube vid for each little homebrew.... no gravity is one of the best homebrew games ever graphics wise, so don't hold the rest to that standard lol.

Gino D is a fking idiot

WTF are you posting this crap up for? Man QJ has some pretty crappy ass news posters. That game sucks it still uses Mario trees?? And what's this about using the SND0.at3 of Twisted Metal?? Cant they find their own *****?? THat ***** is gay

Homebrew

People making their own homebrew games is great. People using copyrighted material and blatantly using I-want-to-be-popular-so-I'll-use-popular-stuff stuff in their homebrew is amazingly lame. Mario, Halo, The Matrix, Twisted Metal ... Who knows what else they used and I just didn't notice because I didn't care any more.
by - 2007-03-14 08:48:54
Uh...WTF?

What does this have to do with Halo again?
by - 2007-03-14 08:48:57
Those waves :O

Those waves looks GODLY! I wish I knew how to edit my waves... Never understood how the programs for it works... So I dunno what to do... Sorry for being a noob, but anyone know a decent guide? The readme didn't tell me *****... :P Great-looking game btw ;) :D

seem decent

Seems pretty decent. nothing really to do with halo though. Heck I don“t feel so bad about all the sprites I used in my game

Conspiracy

From what I've gathered from SMM, all the files are fairly easy to duplicate, Super Mini Halo just looks like someone changed the sprites, background and music from Super Mini Mario, which are all fairly simple things to do. =S

garbage

How many sprites were changed? 1? and an eboot icon? Man I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS GAME!, this kid is the future of gaming!

...

This isnt a BETA version, beta's are public. This is more like a video of the alpha version. It becomes beta when they release it for testing to the public.

Wow, another BORING homebrew release!

Thank you for your contributions to the community!

Thanks for the um...."Support"

Hey guys thanks for the well nothing.... Yes this is a mod of SMM, I never said I made the game and in the readme.txt file all people are credited. The sprites were changed from the mario ones, and some (like the trees) dont really need to be. Each level is desigend for SMH and SMH only, they will look all screwy on other versions of the game. I dont take credit for the coding of the game, nor the music and stuff that you hear, I just want to make levels and keep the scene alive. Last time I checked theres like 4 things that keep people alive, like Xflash, Custom FW's, Menu Edits, and some emulators. I still plan to finish the game, and if you dont want to play then dont. 4 less people playing wont effect the game... -JpDeathBlade- htpp://xpmax.cjb.net

way to go!

i like how you handled all the n00bs who flame every little thing qj posts. I think its great that you are making 50 levels for it. I liked the SMM game, and more levels is just what i need to continue playing it.

poor ass *****

please stop releasing games that arnt fun to play even 1 second even ice climbers is way better than that

What does this have to do with halo?

Nothing in that video made me think of halo. You can't even shoot in a homebrew clone of a fps. This game has more similarities to pacman than halo. The gameplay still looks fairly fun, so I may give it a try anyway. That is if you ever release it to the public.

i liked the last one but...

i liked the last but it was a little too hard to controll you need to make it less sensitive and if you want to make your own AT3 instead of using the twisted metal one you can go to this tutorial: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=815626#p815626

Can I Play Super Mini Halo?

K, theres alot of questions floating around and I'll answer some of them: 1) When is this going to be released? There are 3 version of the game out now, SMH Beta (or version 1), SMH Alpha (version 1.5), and the Xmas version we made for Xmas. Just look it up here, they have Alpha and Xmas up for download. 2) Can I beta Test? Maybe it all depends on alot of things, more on that later 3) Why level 11? Well the last version gave you 10 levels so we wanted you to see the next one in the line. We didnt want you to beat level 10 then see level 25 on the internet and mess you up. 4) Only 11? There are alot more then 11 levels done atm, We actually have a timeline for the levels, if we get 50 before the end we might even make more. 5) Holiday Versions? With the Xmas one out we were thinking of a Halloween one. Idk about any others....maybe sometime in april 6) This game is nothing like halo, why? Well then your eyes are working. It wasnt suppost to be halo, want suppost to be a fps, It was made bc I enjoy working on it and Its addicting to play. This is a mod of SUPER MINI MARIO (...MARIO...). If you want Halo buy an xbox. -JpDeathBlade- http://xpmax.cjb.net

Thanks?

I just want to say thanks for the 6000+ views on the video. I was hoping for about 100, so I was a little happy to go onto youtube today. Now one of my "loving" fans said I used cool things to become popular bc I have master cheif and a twisted metal song and the matix thing. Well Im no traying to be popular, the twisted metal thing was actualy a place holder till i could make my own and it just stuck. I picked halo bc there wasnt anything halo based at the time i made it (the games a year old i just never really did anything with it untill resently). The matrix thing was the coolest non Resistance fall of man thing i could find, bc everyones got the blood one now-a-days... PS: the last two posters look to be the same guy...Probley in his moms basement. Hey Inatropic2 both hands on the keyboard... -JpDeathBlade- http://xpmax.cjb.net
