With StrmnNrmn's most recent Nintendo 64 Daedalus R12 emulator released just a little over a month ago, everything's been pretty quite lately - well, excluding the whole misinformation and identity theft issue, at least. Wondering what's been up with the homebrew developer? QJ readers Tyler Dickinson and blackrave tipped us off (a million thanks, guys!), saying that StrmnNrmn's updated his blog.
Seems like StrmnNrmn's had a break since the release of R12, wanting to sit back a while and recharge his batteries. You can't blame him; R12 was quite a burden with all the dynarec bugs and fragment simulation going on. So, to summarize the things StrmnNrmn's been up to for the previous few weeks:
- a trip to Spain
- his Xbox 360 getting hit by the Red Ring of Death
- moving into a new flat in Guilford
- getting a 17" MacBook Pro
This imposes a couple of good things for all parties concerned:
- StrmnNrmn has an easier and faster time working on Daedalus,
- We can hear more about his Daedalus progress via his blog, and
- You could find Daedalus R13 on your lap as soon as tomorrow (a bit of a stretch, but hey!, we can dream too)
I'd like to continue working on speeding up the emulator to try and improve the framerate for titles that are already working. [...] There are a number of different areas I can investigate to help improve performance. The two main possibilities I want to investigate are working on further dynarec improvements, and looking at making use the Media Engine.
He says that, based on your comments, these are what you guys are most interested in seeing for R13. So, to get the ball rolling, StrmnNrmn's going to investigate these areas to tweak and will soon have details to update us with soon enough.

Is it close to full speed yet? Or at least can you see ALL the gameplay without haveing black or green spots throughout the game.

Would it be possible to release a game compatibility list with each release. I am really forward to playing Mario64 full speed with sound!
how can u play SSB? IIt is SOOOO SLOW. Its not anywhere near full speed, and increasing frameskip too much just makes it choppy. Besides...NO SOUND. SSB is not nearly the same without sound.
the best game is super mario 64. most playable game to me. I want zelda, goldeneye, and ssb to be playable.

It appears that there is a common thing about computer geeks (myself being one) in general...
whatever OS you grew up on is t3h ub3r 1337n355... I think its all wrong, raising your hand for your OS saying its best is the dumbest card to play ever...
IMO, the OS that suits your needs and uses is the best for you... personally I reside on WinXP + Linux.... I'm okay with mac... I don't hate it, and the OS is fine... it just doesn't do everything i need it to, it doesn't suit my needs.
For him to test and run every game would be too much to ask... I would rather him update us on the same games he has running, and tell us what new games he found to be running...
if the users wanna put up their own list, I can help make that happen
(using goodmerged list as my resource, and creating a PHP page to allow users to check whether its working, what fps, and whether or not sound works)

This is my favorite news to read, anything on his emulator is just amazing. But this post literally was 1% R13, 99% just, other stuff. lmao However, im not angry, anything from him is freakin awesome. He hasnt said anything in a month, so, ya. Awesome to hear R13 is in the works.
to each his/her own. and based on their needs, various OSes will meet their demands. for my personal needs tho, OSX is my choice. that's why i love it to pieces. it does whatever i can or want it to do. again, to each his/her own. ^_^ i bow down to Linux too. PS3 and Linux are soo meant for each other.

its kinda easy for the 360 to give the red ring, expecially if u have something on top of it making it heat up 10x faster lol. 1 hour of game playing and itll give me the stupid too hot ****, oh well. I hate my 360 anyway, id rather play my Wii, which doesnt overheat.
