Today he's the man of the hour. Actually, he's been the man of the hour the past all hours of the week as the scene awaits for the release of an exploit that is of an avian variety, sans the flu. Let's ditch the guesswork, shall we? Am sure you've all figured this out by now anyway.
For this edition of the QJ QuickGuide Who's Who, we're setting our sights on Davee. Yes, it's you! But don't worry, we're not gonna disturb you. Feel free to continue doing whatever it is your doing *cough*HEN*cough*, we'll just be here, lurking in silence. *wink*
So who is Davee? It's easy to answer that now, thanks to his contribution to the PSP scene's new wave of development with his Kernel exploit released just a couple of weeks back. And he did make quite a splash, actually, as he's one of those whom we'd say to be quiet and unassuming.
See, prior to his Kernel exploit, Davee has been pretty much lying low on the radar, releasing homebrew applications rather thinly across the calendar. It might be because he's still a student himself (at least that's what we heard), and so his homebrew work has to take the backseat every so often. But despite the thin resume (compared to the other devs who release more regularly), what's certain is that his projects are always spot-on and are always the type that definitely brings something new to the mix in the community.
Two makes company
In the long history of QJ, Davee first surfaced last year as a developer on April of 2008, bringing with him the Universal Theme Flasher. This app was actually made in collaboration with Super-Sheep (He IS Super-Sheep. LOL). Especially with the plethora of themes to choose from, this app made it simple and hassle-free for the users to switch between PSP themes. UTF was well-received, thanks to the convenience it offered.
And then it took another half a year before he came out with another release, VSH Module Descrambler for FW 5.00. Again, this was released in collaboration with another homebrew developer, Bubbletune. And again, this one is themes related. If the UTF was for an easier switch from one theme to another, this one was specifically made with theme-makers in mind. Following this release a couple of days later was the Scramble Patcher, this time as a solo project.
And then there was one: going on solo flight
Working on collabs on his earlier projects probably did him a ton of good, as it provided him some sort of a stable ground for him to release quality brews on his own later on.
By November of last year, he was ready to fully go solo, and released his Unlimited Character Version Spoofer, which was once again well-received by the scrutinizing folks of the homebrew world. The follow-up to this project, Unlimited Character Version and Mac Address Spoofer v2, allows you to further modify your PSP's system information.
After that, he was quiet once more. But none of us was prepared for the next thing that he was gonna come out with.
Pop goes the Kernel Last month, on April 15th, Davee proved that just because he's not always releasing stuff does not mean he's got nothing in store for us to look out for. From the left field, and into the center of the PSP community's all-too aware consciousness, Davee announced that he has got a new Kernel exploit that is working on a new Homebrew Enabler. And he's been lodged there in our minds ever since.
There's been some delay in the much-awaited release of his HEN for the PSP 3000, but we personally don't mind. We've always employed the mindset of not rushing things to fruition, as we know that good things come to those who wait.

We'd have to say, though, Davee's a lucky one, cos he didn't have to wait too long to earn his time in the spotlight in a scene where folks can be very discriminating and unforgiving. Cos at this point of the article, you have to be reminded: he does have a thin resume. Now factor this in: Davee burst into the scene just a year ago; we say for that length of time, the progress he's made is damn impressive. That technically makes him a prodigy.
And hey, what do you know. The Kernel exploit sure was a great anniversary celebration, huh! His first release was on April 14, 2008 while the announcement of the kernel was on April 15, 2009. Coincidence? Maybe.

What the.... reading QJ and on the front page I see an article with the name 'Davee' in it. I was thinking... nah it couldn't be, but I decided to check anyway. Reading it through I was like.. what?! This guy is in the year below me, I knew he was good at programming, but a kernel exploit? xD Nice... and here I am, I was happy with my Hello World and basic quiz C++ PSP apps I had made but now I have been completely overwhelemed.
I have to say the whole Psp scene has been uncharacteristicly polite and patient while waiting for Davee to release this hack, normaly you hear a lot of whining from people desperate for things to be released, i just have to say a very suprised well done to everyone.
Considering all his past works are XMB modifications it wouldn't be hard for him to fake an exploit, especially since the exploit is launched from XMB too.
