PSP Revolution v0.2 Released!! |

DeNitro and Devin923, from our forums, have released the
latest version of one of the greatest PSP homebrew games, PSP Revolution. PSP
Revolution is based off the popular Stepmania
game, and received outstanding support and positive remarks from the community.
The first release was revealed back in November, and about half a year later we
received the next great installment of this game! As the famous saying goes, better late than never! This long break in development came when time was tight
for the developers, but the resulting product is outstanding.
PSP Revolution v0.2 features theme support finally, something which many
have been wishing for since the first release. The new theme support is the
focus of the new version, and hopefully we will see some outstanding themes by
our users! When you fist play the game, you will be greeted by the same look
and feel as the first version allowing for easy adaptation into the new
version. However, it is recommended that you do a complete install (do not just
copy the new files over the old ones) of this game due to a new file structure.
One great thing I liked about this version was that I saw a song I recognized
from my High School French class - Un Monde Parfait (A Perfect World).
It was my teacher's favorite song, and the animation in the music video was
excellent as well. However, it happens to be one of the hard songs to play,
which left me disappointed, seeing how I am horrible at these games.
The entire change log for this great game is below -
(NEW)
- Added theme support for loading custom graphics
- Added an options menu to the song select screen (accessible by pressing SQUARE)
- Arrow Speed Modifiers available in the song options menu (see above)
- Preliminary support for song Freezes (Like in Sandstorm)
- OGG Music files are now supported
- JPG Background files are now supported
- Beginner "feet" color added
- Music preview plays for selected song at song select screen
- Marathon songs are now supported
- Letter grades are now awarded at the song score screen
(CHANGE)
- Song difficulty selection is now sorted easiest(left) to hardest(right)
- Holds are now active a little longer after button release
- Song select screen now scrolls the list with more than 18 entries
- Missed steps now are now counted as soon as they go out of "boo" range
- Combo numbers are now outlined for more definition
- Top arrows are lit up to match the song's beat
- Game now runs at the default CPU speed (222mhz) (reduces battery usage)
- Graphics mode now 32-bit
- Combo counter during gameplay now displays up to 4 digits
- Putting the PSP into suspend mode during a song will return game to main menu when resumed
- MP3's (along with OGG's) are now streamed from the Memory Stick during play
- Speed improvement when flipping through song lists
- Much improved error handling throughout the game
- Support for a wider variety of song banners (will rotate/resize them into place)
- Increased Song Compatibility
- Changed how arrows are synced
- Arrow's should no longer "drift" slightly out of sync during the duration of a song
- Fixed reading of interlaced PNG files which would previously crash song select screen
- Fixed rare cases of broken hold notes
- Fixed rare case of songs missing the first couple of steps
- Fixed bug where holds very close to a step on same column being hit with the step hit
- Fixed missing difficulty text during game and score screen
- Pressing several buttons at once no longer crashes song select screen
- No longer need to change the folder name for v2.0+ Eboot Loaders
- Fixed a small memory leak which could cause crashes after numerous songs are played.
- Fixed a bug where arrows would stop coming up during gameplay
- Other minor bug fixes

It's been awhile! Awsome.
Thanks a lot! I've been waiting for a new release! I especially like the song grades now, so I can show off to my friends =P. I also like the JPG support, most of my song BGs are JPG (Too lazy to convert xD).
lol at last and update yea cool please keep it up^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
where do i put my own songs, what format do they have to be. Thanks, all help is appreciated
español. gracias jap. arigato eng. thank you
I hope the developers are reading this. Maybe eventually you will be able to implement different arrow colors so you can tell the difference between 1/4, 1/8, etc notes? That would be fantastic!
Damn I have been waiting for this for a long time.
You two are my favorite developers (aside from exploit devs) and it's GREAT to see the New PSPR version finally! :D Keep up the great work :)
Wow, finally... :)
I LOVE IT GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was hoping for version 2 to come out GOOD WORK keep it up
At last it's released!!!!!! Gooodd job!!!
That's not that hard to do. I can do it and I've had only 2 months practice. Just keep trying. If you set your mind to it, you can get AAA on everything. I usually play 10 - 15 step and get AAA.
2 Months Practice?! AHAHA I can say this with confidence; NOOB! it took me like at least 2 days! no offence mang, but thats n00btacular!
I've been waiting for an update for this program, plz keep updating it =]
.. To play every song on challenge with your feet? Wow, I would like to see someone do that.
I LUV STEPMANIA! OMG DIS IS TITE! THNX U P33P$
GREAT GAME...wow, I dont really like the whole Dance Dance Rev thign at acardes, but i love this....If i like it this much, and i dont like DDR....people who do like DDR must love this thing.
When i start the game, it shuts off my PSP! What's up wit dis?
i been waiting for this since forever! and its great! try a song called maxxunlimited on the green steps and at x2 speed and tell me how many u get(its in the real DDR game... one of the fastest songs that even ppl i kno who are pros have a hard time doing) sooo... what is the intro song cause its not on the playlist but i want it and i wanna know where to get it... help would be appreciated
Also, this is great! Keep up the great for this this. I have been playing stepmania for a long time, and on the psp my hands hurt so much more. >_> Please keep the updates coming, maybe different noteskins so this can be much more DDR-like, and also some more mods (like up to 3x) and also the C mods would be great! Thanks again for this.
This always was my favorite homebrew, great job! Just finished playing all the songs, and I was able to get a B or above on all of them on the hardest dificulty on my first time through them!
this is been the best homebrew game for awhile now.
Finally they've come out with an update, I've been waiting for this for the longest time! Does anyone know any good sites to go to download more songs WITH the steps for this? Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!
i have been stopped playing stepmania for awhile but i think ill get back into it because of this thx. =D
really good/fun game
can you put your own mp3's and stuff on this? dont mean to sound retarded
Does anybody know how to get steps generated by Dancing Monkeys to work on this? I've downloaded songs others have made and they work. But when I tried a song in mp3 format with the sm file made by dancing monkeys, it froze. It always does. Do I have to have backgrounds or something?
where can i find more songs for this game?
I didn't even know the first program existed! This is remarkable! For people who want more songs, just Google Stepmania songs or something. ~Dac
yes you can. you have to register at www.bemanistyle.com and then go to the simfiles.
This is awesome simply because it has K.I. Feeling on it. Seriously. Someone bought that album besides me :D The loading screen is very nice also. Bonus points for originality and having cool music. Developers take note! Wait times do not have to be boring!
Since the first vesrion I'am waiting that more than, very good work!!! Thank you very much!
thanks alot for this awesome updated homebrew. thumbs up to the change speed option. whats the song being played on the menu? I like it
I love this game! It's the best homebrew release for the PSP yet in my opinion. Although I would appriciate it if the game is released open source like Stepmania.
best.brew.ever.
Thanx so much to DeNitro and Devin923 for this new release, no more sync problems, less songs crashing, it really rocks guy :) Every DDR addicts, grab this one !
Great but im having trouble playing chaos japan. i cant hit 2 arrows at once. *sigh* :(
KOOL GAME MAN.....but i think beatmania is better
this is amazing, all those new features! OGG, JPG, preview of the song when selecting, so much else, wow. thanks for this amazign homebrew, even though I suck at these games lol
I am still waiting for assist trick :] Good job boys
out of about 6 attempts one worked, and then crashed 1/4 way through, it looks really good, i just want to be able to play it :'(
I am using 2.6 firmware, any solution?
FLAWLESS for me, good job, this doesn't look like a 0.2 release, more like 0.8 or 0.9 ;) Keep up the good work, looking forward to future versions! ~dan
I've been waiting for another version of this since i found 0.1! XD Imma going to try it out... NOW
The first release of this is my number one favorite homebrew. Keep up the good work guys
If you install the PSP 2 TV adaptor, you can use a dance mat! It's still fun without, but that's the best way to play these games.
Hi, I just uploaded like 40 songs onto this game, and when im cycliing thru the songs, it freezes. Anyone else have this problem?
This game looks great but for some reason whenever I pick any song from the menu it suddenly freezes and my psp turns off! I have firmware 2.0 and am using the 0.97 "Bock" Eloader the 0.1 PSPRevolution worked fine so I don't know why this one doesn't Did this happen to anybody else?? Anyway the menu and options and stuff looks great already, good work.
You should downgrade to 1.5 It could be that.
there are a few underground sites that let you download all the songs from the DDR machines, all the way from the first set, up to extreme 2, extreme, max2, max, and all the ones inbetween
its not hard to hit 2 arrows at all... ill tell u a secret... . .. ... .... ... .. . all you have to do is use the buttons on the right side of the psp at the same time as u use the ones on the left side to make u an amazing pspr player btw if anyone has the song maxx unlimited... try it on x2 and see how long you last.
i was able to play it for quite a while, but last time i tried playing the data was corrupt
For those of you that having freezing problems, I've found a solution using step mania. Make sure you have the song that is freezing on PSP revolution in the My Creations folder of step mania. Start step mania and go to: Edit/sync playlists. Now select the song that is freezing. Go to steps hit the right arrow so that it is on the light level. Go down to action and select edit exsisting. After that, press esc and go down to save and hit enter. It will save your sm file. Now press esc again and select exit editor. It should still be on the song you had selected before. Now go to steps hit right so it is on standard. Then go to edit exsisting again. Do the same thing: Esc save, esc exit editor. Now it should still be on the same song. Again go to steps and hit right and it should be on heavy now. Go to edit exsisting again and do the same thing as before: Esc save, Esc exit editor.| This corrects errors in the sm file if there are any. After that it should work on PSP revolution. Just copy the folder of your song from step mania to a folder(Doesnt matter what folder. You can make a new one. Just make sure its a folder inside songs) in the songs folder of PSP revolution. It should work, its worked on all the songs thats freezed on mine. Anyway, remember, freeze arrows will NOT work on PSP revolution at the moment. That kind of annoyed me but I'm sure another version will be released with a lot more features.
were do i get new songs? i think theis is the best hombrew game ever
Does anyone know what the title of the main menu song is? Oddly enough I like it.
Ive been waiting for a new version of PSPRevolution now and im really excited about it (now if I could find my charger to be able to turn my psp on again...) Excellent work and I cant wait for the next release!
i finished the first song but with a B in SMANIAC difficulty GREAT GAME
We need Multiplayer 2 ADHC plz developers this would be 2 cool :D
Has anyone tried this on a 2.0 firmware psp? It stops working when I pick a song
I uploaded a song of mine and its playing the music like at 5x speed for some reason. Its playing so fast it sounds like chipmunks are singing rofl. Anyone have this problem? BTW the arrows are still fine its just the music.
some of my dwis have the arrows offset slightly... so when im perfectly onbeat ill get greats and sometimes goods... on stepmania i just press F12 or F11 to change the "offset".. could such a feature be implemented in this.... pleaseee??? :)
